Cole's POV.

It was finally here, today was the day of the tournament.

" You nervous?" I asked Iris as we got to Beacon Hill Academy.

" Kind of." She replied honestly taking a shaky breath.

" Well don't be, you'll do great." I replied and she smiled back.

" Come on. It's show time." I said and we stepped out of the bus.

The tournament started with the test of strength which Rose participated in and got first place. Next was hand combat and I got second place but I made up for it by getting first place in leadership.

It was time for the race and Iris was the one representing our school.

The gun was fired and the were off with Iris in the lead and Carl from Beacon Hill Academy in second. He was a Peregrine Falcon, the fastest animal on Earth with a speed of about 390km/hr.

Iris somehow managed to beat him without shifting and he was mad.

" This is impossible!, How did she beat me without shifting." Carl cried in outrage.

" She must've cheated."

" I didn't cheat." Iris defended.

" If she didn't cheat then what is her animal?" The official asked and Iris sighed.

" Ah ah!, That just proves my point. This tournament is strictly for shifters you elementist!" Carl spat and I growled taking a step forward.

" Cole." Iris called giving me a warning look.

" I'm not an elementist. I just haven't shifted."

" I'm sorry but we're gonna have to disqualify you for this round." The official said and Carl smirked victoriously.

" I'm sorry guys." Iris said quietly.

" It's okay Iris, there are plenty of events left." Mr T said.

The final event was a survival match. Each team would be sent into the arena and try to eliminate the other teams. The team with the last competitor standing would win. We were given a vest with a red orb in the middle. The orb would apparently glow once we were striked by a rival team signifying game over.

We went in and played for what felt like hours. There were only two other competitors left apart from me and I wasn't sure if it was Iris or any other student from Crest Hill.

I was attacked by Carl and he knocked my sword out of my hand. He had pinned me down and all he had to do was strike my orb. But instead, he started rambling on about how Beacon Hill was better than Crest Hill then he moved on to talking about how great he was.

' Could this guy be anymore full of himself?'

He was so distracted that he didn't notice Iris sneak up on him. I kicked him off and he fell and Iris shot his orb with an arrow.

" Crest Hill High wins." A voice announced and Iris hugged me.

" I don't know Mr T. I'm really not comfortable with that idea." Iris said.

We were currently in the bus on our way back to school and Mr T and Iris had been arguing. Mr T wanted Iris to give a speech but Iris declined. She really deserved it seeing as she was the main reason Crest Hill won.

We got back to school a couple hours later and the entire school was waiting for us.

The other participants filed out first, followed by Rose, then Bryan and I. Iris came out last with the trophy and the whole school cheered.

We gathered in the auditorium where Mr T gave his speech.

" I want to thank all the teachers for training them. I would also like to thank the other students for their support and finally, I'd like to thank the participant for being incredible and making us proud. Crest Hill High won a total of 17 medals. 9 golds 5 silvers, and 4 bronze medals."

He proceeded to call our names, the events we participated in and our medals.

" Iris Gonzalez: Test of wit, gold. Test of speed, gold. Test of aim, gold. Test of bravery, gold and overall performance, gold. These are the people who led us to victory. They are our heroes." He finished and everyone clapped.

" Today all classes are cancelled in celebration of Crest Hill High's victory over our rival school Beacon Hill Academy." Mr T announced and the crowd went wild.

Iris's POV.

" So, how'd it go?" Rose asked anxiously.

" Well, they're letting me stay for an extra week. If I don't shift by then I'm going for Christmas break and never coming back."

" It will be alright Iris." Rose said.

" I'm gonna miss this place. I'm gonna miss you and Bryan and Cole." I said and she wiggled her eyebrows when I mentioned Cole's name.

" Cole huh?"

" Okay what is it?"

" You and Cole have been hanging out a lot. What's up with that?, Wait do like him?"

" It's kind of hard not to. He's an amazing guy."

" And hot too." She added and I chuckled.

" But it's never gonna happen."

" Why?"

" He's a wolf."

" So?"

" So, he has a mate."

" How are you so sure it's not you?!"

" Because I asked him and he said he hadn't met her yet. Besides, being in a relationship is the last thing on my mind right now." I said and she sighed.

Cole's POV.

Mr T was so impressed with our performance at the tournament that he gave all the participants a week off.

Iris, Rose, Bryan and I were at our hangout spot when Iris suddenly stood up.

" I gotta go guys."

" Where are you going?" Rose asked curiously.

" I'm going to try and trigger my powers."

" Okay let's go then." Bryan said.

" No. I want to do this alone. You guys have done so much already." Iris replied.

" You sure?" I asked and she nodded then she walked out of the room.

I waited for a few minutes to make sure she was gone then I spoke.

" Guys, there's something I have to tell you."

" What is it?" Rose questioned.

" I like Iris."

" Well duh, we know that." Bryan said taking a gulp from the soda can he was holding.

" Iris is my mate." I stated and he spat the drink out.

" What?!" Rose exclaimed.

" She's my mate. I've known since the first time we met in the hallway."

" Great!, Then tell her."

" I can't. She has so many things to worry about. I don't wanna add to it."

" But you have to tell her soon. She's leaving."

" I know, I know. I'll tell her."

Iris had just four days left. A part of me was sad that she was leaving but the other part was still hopeful that she would shift before then. I was finally going to tell her that she was my mate. I went to our spot but she wasn't there. I looked around the school for her and finally found her on the beach in the arena.

The arena was the biggest and coolest place in Crest Hill. That's a big achievement because Crest Hill had a lot of cool places. It was out of bounds to students unless under staff supervision but I had special access. And I'm guessing so does Iris.

The arena was located at the back of the school and there was a special elevator that would take you there. The arena was divided into four parts. There was a massive foreground with grass and seats like you would replace in the stadium.

At the east was the beach with an ocean that seemed endless. At the west were a bunch of mountains that were so high up we couldn't even see the top. And at the south, the latter end of the arena was a really huge and active volcano.

We used the arena mostly when we were holding events and sometimes when training.

" Hey!" I greeted taking a seat next to her.

" Hey!" She replied.

We chatted about random things and just sat there enjoying each others company.

" Iris there's something I have to tell you."

" What is it?"

" I-"

I was about to speak when Rose came running to us.

" You guys need to come. Like right now. We need all the help we can get." She said out of breath.

We followed her out of the arena and towards the entrance of the school.

There was a huge white tiger!

It looked translucent. Like it was being projected. Kind of like a spirit but we could feel the vibration of the floor with it's every move.

I took a closer look at it and was shocked to see it had the same lilac eyes as Iris.

The teachers and some other students were trying their best to send it away but it wasn't going anywhere.

" Aim!, Fire!" Coach Ryan yelled and the fire elementist sent fireballs at it.

But the tiger didn't budge. It let out a load roar sending some people flying.

Iris moved closer and but I held her back.

" What are you doing?!"

She pushed me back and moved closer to it. It seemed to have noticed her and it also moved closer to her.

" Hold fire!" She yelled.

" Gonzalez get out of there!" Coach yelled.

" Coach please hold fire!" Iris pleaded.

" Iris get away from it!" Mr T yelled but Iris didn't listen.

She moved closer to it and put her hand on it's head. It looked into her eyes and then,

It was gone!

Iris fell on her knees gripping her head. I ran forward to help her but stopped when her body started levitating. Wind started picking up and there was a blinding light and we all had to look away.

The light finally dimmed and it revealed Iris and she looked totally different.

She wore a white flowing gown with gold bracelets and anklets. Her hair floated around her and she had a thin band of gold on her head.

She looked like a goddess.

" She's here." Emily whispered.

" After all this years, she's finally here." Mr T added.

" All hail the Elysian." He said getting down on one knee.

My eyes widened and I gulped.

Everyone gradually got down on one knee and I was left standing. I looked at her one more time before kneeling.

" All hail the Elysian."
