Sweet Mischief’s Rollercoaster Romance -
Chapter 691
Andre quipped in response to his wife's silent question, "Yeah, it's dark out, but the garage lights are on. Some folks, you know, have eagle eyes-20/20 vision, or even better." His rare jab was softened by the fond look he gave his wife's svelte figure and their chubby-
cheeked
son.
Referred to affectionately by her husband as "some folks," Mia couldn't help but bite her tongue.
Andre walked over to the window, glanced at the newlyweds in the parking lot, and then, carrying their son who'd finally run out of energy, led his wife back into the living room. "Our little guy loves any excitement. Must've gotten that from you," he said, wrapping an arm around Mia's shoulders with adoring affection.
If their little one hadn't been under the weather, he'd be up and about, causing a ruckus alongside Mia.
During a check-up, the doctor had even commented on how lively their child was, suggesting it ran in the family.
"Who, me? He's got it from his aunt and his brother too," Mia retorted, sharing the blame.
At this, Hansen, standing nearby, nodded vigorously, "Absolutely, Mia's spot on."
Just then, Jade dashed back into the living room, curious about the laughter. "Dad, what did Mia say that got you agreeing so enthusiastically?"
Hansen chuckled, "Ah, Mia was just sharing some juicy gossip about you and Chad."
Molly immediately glared at her best friend. "Traitor!"
Mia shot back, "Look who's talking! How much of mine and Andre's dirt have you dished?"
Hansen, ever the peacemaker, intervened, "Come on, let's not fight. We're all family here."
Then, adding to the conversation, Hansen said, "Mia was just defending herself against Andre's claim that our gossip-loving Henry got it from her. She argued it actually comes from his aunt and brother."
"I think she's right. It's all the bad genes from you three, infecting my sweet grandson," Hansen joked, causing Molly to ask, "So, whose bad genes did Leo and I inherit?"
"Who knows..." Hansen laughed, but his laughter halted as he realized everyone was staring at him, silent.
Mia gave Molly a thumbs up. "Well played."
Hansen's smile faded as he jokingly threatened Molly with his cane, "You dare say it's from me!"
"I didn't name names. You said it yourself. Why not blame mom?"
Molly regretted her words, wishing Chad was there to defend her.
Pointing at her father's cane, she half-joked, "Lay a hand on me, and I won't take care of you in your old age."
Hansen scoffed, "I've got six kids. Think I'll starve without you?"
The siblings watched the family drama unfold, with the little one snuggled in his father's arms, witnessing the typical household banter.
Molly tried to play it off, "What a shame. Your son-in-law's my man, your daughter-in-law's my sister. My brother won't stand up to you, and Naomi spoils me the most. You really think you can count on me?" Frustrated, Hansen exclaimed, "I still have grandsons!"
"Oh? The grandson you've been disciplining for over twenty years or the newborn who does nothing but cry and keep us up at night?" Molly's sharp tongue struck again.
Realizing his argument was futile, Hansen ordered, "Call Chad. Tell him to come pick me up!"
Molly quickly softened, clinging to her father, "Dad, no need. I'm your little sweetheart, remember?"
Hansen was momentarily distracted, "Why 'sweetheart'?"
Molly blinked, "You know, the heart of a flower."
Hansen was speechless.
Naomi, trying to hold back laughter, turned away.
Mia whispered to her husband, "They say daughters are like their mothers. Maybe we should stick to sons, huh?"
Andre, holding their son, simply replied, "Let's focus on this one first."
Their son gurgled in agreement.
Leo, summoned by his grandfather's affectionate call in the family chat, mused suspiciously about the old man's intentions.
Anya nodded, "Grandpa was just calling Chad a workhorse."
Leo, deciding to take a break, announced, "Let's hit the food stalls."
Soon, their family chat was filled with pictures of Leo and Anya enjoying street food, further cementing their bond in the eyes of their amused relatives. Hansen, envious, put down his phone, "I'm off to bed!"
Molly teased her uncle Leo in the chat for snacks, only to be bluntly rebuffed.
Back in Mia and Naomi's bedroom, the two were busy giving their little one a bath-another serene family moment in a day full of playful banter and warmth.
"Back in the day, it was always you and Dad going at it like cats and dogs. Now that you're a mom, you've mellowed out a lot. These days, it's Molly who's taken up the mantle of the family debater," Naomi chuckled as she gently washed her little nephew's feet.
Mia yawned, "Naomi, all my energy and brainpower are completely wrapped up in this little guy." She then looked down at her chubby son and tapped his lower lip, "It's all because of you, my little munchkin, turning mom into a frazzled mess. Right? How about mom gives you a playful spanking to cheer herself up?"
The little guy, adorable as ever, stuck out his tongue and prepared to nibble on his little hands again.
