Sweet Mischief’s Rollercoaster Romance -
Chapter 751
Leo listened with a smile as the call connected. "Hello, I'm Leo, guest in room 2308. This girl here is my girlfriend. Could you give her a spare key card?"
After getting the spare key card at the front desk, Anya grinned, "See, I told you I'm his girlfriend. You didn't believe me!"
With the key card in hand, she happily went back to wait for Leo.
Around 11, after wrapping up work in his car, Leo closed his laptop and headed back.
"Chad, hurry up! I made pork bone broth ramen, way better than the stuff outside." Anya's joy came from seeing Chad eat the food she made. "I also bought whole wheat bread and brought some of my homemade jam. If you don't feel like going downstairs for breakfast, you can have bread and jam."
Leo sat down, placing his laptop on the bed. "You have an exam this afternoon. How's the prep going?"
"Don't worry, no cheat sheets this time."
Leo handed her a pair of chopsticks. "Let's eat together."
"Chad, did you go for another interview?"
Leo nodded, and Anya didn't dare ask about the outcome.
Leo said, "That company's not a good fit."
Anya thought Leo was upset because he didn't pass the interview, so she encouraged him, "Then move on to the next one. With so many companies out there, someone's bound to recognize your talent." Leo asked, "You don't mind that your Chad hasn't found a job yet?"
Anya immediately shook her head. "Chad, I'll never pressure you. I know you're trying hard and not giving up."
Soon, Leo's phone rang. He answered, "Hello?"
"Is this Leo who interviewed at Sunnew Web this morning?"
"Yes, it's me."
After a brief conversation, Leo wiped his mouth with a tissue. "Thanks. I need to think about the start date. I'll get back to you by six tonight."
Anya's eyes lit up. "A start date? Does this mean you've got the job?"
After hanging up, Anya clapped excitedly. "Chad, congrats! Which company?"
Leo put down his phone. "The one I interviewed with this morning. But don't congratulate me yet; it's not the right fit."
Anya was puzzled, "But you passed the interview. You said it wasn't right just now, and now you're saying the company isn't right. Why?"
Leo said, "I didn't mean I might not pass the interview; I meant the company isn't suitable."
Anya still didn't get it.
Leo picked up a piece of meat with his chopsticks and fed it to Anya.
She opened her mouth and ate it, then remembered there were only two pieces of meat. "Chad, that was for you."
Leo scooped up some broth and fed it to Anya. "If I can't learn anything there, why go?"
Anya's mind raced. "Chad, does this mean you've passed interviews before but chose not to go?"
Leo said, "Seems like your brain's working now."
"Why?!" Anya was now a walking question mark.
Leo fed her another piece of meat. "Silly girl, eat more meat, boost your brain, and figure it out yourself."
Anya opened her mouth, "Mmm..."
And she ate the meat.
That noon, when Leo was researching on his computer, Anya suddenly said, "Chad, are you looking for a well-established company not to learn the technology but to learn their good operating practices?" Leo leaned back in his chair, looking at Anya. "Come here, Anya, let's have a talk."
Anya blinked, "What's wrong, did I guess incorrectly?"
Andre had also guessed what his nephew wanted to do. Since he wanted to start a business, he could just go ahead, register a company, recruit talent, and get started. Leo wasn't worried about the technology; it was the experience he lacked.
The companies he aimed for could offer low salaries, require overtime, and be demanding, but they had to be in continuous operational states and in good shape. He wasn't applying to learn the technology but for the experience.
So Leo carefully selected and practiced with large corporations that had high standards he couldn't meet, focusing instead on companies without strict professional requirements and too many restrictions. Hence, he kept busy.
Moreover, he later thought that those large groups might not offer what he wanted to learn. Small and medium-sized enterprises could have both problems and continuous operational advantages. The problems were what he might face in the future, and the advantages were exactly what he wanted to learn.
Leo tapped Anya's chin. "Little girl, when did you learn to read minds? Especially your Chad's mind."
"Chad, did I guess right again?"
Anya jumped into Leo's arms, elated. "I'm just the person who understands you best."
Leo said, "Want a reward?"
"Chad, this time you better not ruin the mood by asking if I want a kiss."
Leo: "..."
At noon, Anya kept eating at Leo's, filling her stomach, and then Leo took her to her exam. "Chad, what are you going to do this afternoon?" "Look for a job, of course. My job situation has been unstable, and I've been in the red. Money isn't everything, but without it, nothing is possible." Anya nodded, then hurried off.
At school, Anya saw Mia, who had just finished an exam and was stealthily eating ice cream. "Auntie!"
"You scared me." Mia quickly hid the ice cream behind her back, but upon seeing it was her niece, she resumed eating. "Where's your boyfriend?" "Chad's out job hunting."
Mia offered her niece the ice cream she had taken a few bites from. "Want some?"
Anya shook her head, asking, "Auntie, eating ice cream at noon before an exam, won't you get a stomachache in the afternoon?"
"Shut it!"
Anya pursed her lips, not daring to speak further, fearing she might jinx it.
"Auntie, have you stopped breastfeeding?"
"Still in the process. But I can eat whatever I want now. Remember, Anya, you bumping into me sneaking ice cream today, don't tell your uncle, okay?" Anya obediently responded, sitting next to Mia.
"Auntie, where's the baby today?"
At the fifth baby store.
Four grown men, who hadn't eaten lunch, were shopping with tear-streaked Henry.
Teddy held the child, with Conner beside him squeezing a squeaky duck, dedicated to keeping Henry from crying.
Mars held a white onesie with green trim. "This one, wearing green seems refreshing for the summer. I bought it for my son."
"Give it a try. If it's too small, our son won't be able to wear it when we get back."
The salesperson nearby watched the four handsome gentlemen and a cute, cuddly Henry.
