Sweet Mischief’s Rollercoaster Romance -
Chapter 778
Chad had planned to wake her up, but now he just sat on the edge of the bed, watching her sleep.
Mia had also risen early, carrying her hungry, crying son out the door while stifling a yawn. "Anya, you're not going to school, you're not going to work, and you're not even hungry. Why are you up so early?"
Anya, with her backpack on and clutching her laptop, replied, "Auntie, I'm heading out. I left some pasta for the baby in the dining room."
With that, she left, busier than those heading off to work.
Last night, Henry was supposed to sleep with his grandfather but ended up crying his way into his parents' arms.
Anya's daily routine: city library, Chad, baby-a trifecta of tasks.
Molly's daily life: work, home-a straight line.
Mia: her son, a single point.
Sometimes she would visit the office, bringing surprises for Andre, who was hard at work.
Leo often joined Anya after work to clean, buy mattresses, and bed linens. Anya also took down the dusty curtains and replaced them with a double-layered set: one layer of girlish white tulle for her and another layer of classic grey blackout curtains for Leo's straightforward taste.
Leo pointed at the curtains on the bed. "Why'd you buy these without telling me?"
Anya had her grievances too. "And did you tell me when you signed me up for the computer exam?"
However, Anya didn't know how to install curtains and needed a man's help. Holding the curtain rings, she called, "Chad, could you give me a hand?"
Removing the old curtains revealed dust everywhere.
Anya passed the curtains up, and Leo, wiping the rail with a damp cloth, hung the new ones. "One layer would've been enough; two is overkill." "The white one's for me; the grey one's for you."
After hanging them, suddenly, the table Anya had ordered online also arrived.
Leo looked at her silently.
Anya bit her tongue. "There's no table for Chad's books and computer."
Leo: "There's no sofa either. Planning to buy one?"
Anya whispered, "Already did, it's on its way-"
Leo, hands on his hips, took a deep breath.
Seeing Chad about to tease her again, Anya hurriedly explained, "It's not a big sofa, just a single lazy boy chair, a big bean bag, really comfy." "What else did you buy?"
Anya looked down, guiltily answering, "A dining table, tablecloth, lamp, floor mat... I pretty much bought everything the home goods store had."
After speaking, Anya received another delivery call. "Chad, the chairs have arrived~"
Leo, resigned yet content, said, "Anyone who has you as a customer sure hits the jackpot."
With that, he took Anya's hand, heading out to collect the deliveries.
The table and chairs required assembly, with Leo reading the instructions and handling the screwdriver, while Anya, nearly incapable of anything manual, seemed never to read instructions when shopping.
"Hand me the number three screw."
Anya immediately passed it to him.
She envied Leo's handling of the screwdriver and took her turn to playfully engage.
Leo sat on the floor at the foot of the bed, indulging little Anya's play.
His gaze towards Anya was complex, filled with emotion, pity, and a stirring of the heart. Seeing Anya's simplicity and dedication to him alone, Leo found himself smiling. Indeed, no matter how troubled he felt, seeing her always calmed him down. On the path forward, Anya was his driving force.
Following his heart, he reached out, wrapping his arm around Anya's neck. Just as she thought Chad might strangle her, she found herself embraced in Leo's arms, lying across his legs.
Leo slightly curled his legs, leaning down to kiss Anya, who was in complete shock, her eyes wide open.
Within two days, everything had arrived.
Anya followed her standards, even buying a bath loofah to hang in the shower.
The bathroom's tissue box, a wall-mounted storage bag, a desk mat-Anya had covered it all, even sticking a large bear decal she bought online directly onto it.
Leo watched as Anya adorned their space with various online replaces, even replacing the unattractive clothes hangers with new ones from the supermarket.
She wasn't satisfied with the wardrobe either, covering it completely with adhesive wallpaper until she was much happier.
The irregular-shaped glass cups in the house were all chosen based on Anya's taste. Leo remarked, "It's just for drinking water; I'm not here every day, just sleeping at night." The water dispenser: Anya bought it, Leo carried it.
On the floor beside the bed was a bear-themed play mat, and on the balcony, a lazy boy chair, Anya's favorite spot for a nap.
After work, Leo hurried with her to the flower market to buy green plants, fresh flowers, and vases.
Finally, viewing her handiwork, Anya was very proud. "Chad, do you like it?"
Leo: "If you like it, I like it."
"Chad, my family has always wanted to come see you."
"Then let them come. After work tomorrow, I'll move everything in, and you can bring them over on Saturday. I'll take you back on Sunday." Anya silently lowered her head.
Seeing the youthful contemplation, Leo's tone softened considerably, almost cooing, "Didn't we agree, once I'm settled here, you'll go back home with peace of mind?" Anya: "If I go home, I'll miss you. If I don't, I'll miss my parents."
"You and I have a long future ahead; a half-month apart is nothing. I'll visit whenever I can."
Anya nodded, "Then I'll wait for you at home."
After returning home, Anya and her family found a common time as they were all available and decided to visit.
"Molly, didn't you have a date with your Chad this Saturday?" Mia remembered her mentioning it.
Molly selectively forgot, "Did I?"
On Saturday, Andre and some partners went fishing, and Mia whispered to her son, "Your dad, what a character, right?"
Anya led the way to Leo's place, which he had tidied up, having stayed there the night before.
Upon entering, a faint scent of lilies greeted them.
Mia took a deep breath, "Wow, it smells wonderful."
Molly, with a keen eye, noticed the bouquet in the room. "Nephew, look at you, suddenly living so elegantly."
Leo listened, feeling something was off in her words.
Leo looked at the arriving family members, parents included, but the uncle he was both anticipating and nervous to see hadn't come.
Leo masked the disappointment in his heart and embraced his cousin's child, "Chubby, come here and let me have a look, have you lost any of that baby fat?"
Holding Henry in his arms and weighing him, Leo planted a kiss on his cheek, "Not bad, hasn't lost an ounce."
As the family entered, it was as if they had arrived at a tourist attraction, looking around everywhere.
