Sweet Mischief’s Rollercoaster Romance -
Chapter 904
Molly clutched her stomach, putting on an exaggerated pout. "Oh, would you look at that, my stomach's suddenly all better."
Chad was exasperated but resigned; he'd done everything to win her over. What could he do now?
Molly grinned knowingly. She could tell Chad was miffed. She had been chatting away with another guy, even though he was just her "brother," but Chad was the jealous type. Having a blood brother was one thing, but a sworn brother? That was pushing it. "Chad, sweetheart, don't be upset. In a few months, our little one will be here. Haven't I given you enough reassurance?"
While waiting at a red light, Chad glanced at the little diva in the passenger seat. "When have you ever given me reassurance?"
"Oh, I haven't, my brother?" she teased.
"Then just say 'I love you." Chad had set his trap.
Molly hesitated. "Words that are forced out aren't genuine."
Officer Chad jumped in, "I can handle a little insincerity. Just say 'I love you.""
Molly shot back, "I won't say it. I'm not like Mia, who just rolls over without a fight."
Over at Maplewood Estates, Mia sneezed twice out of the blue.
Henry, her son, giggled, leaning on the coffee table, amused by his mom's sneezes.
Mia glanced over at her giggling son. "You have no idea what's going on. Why didn't you tag along with your dad to the office today?"
"Ah, mommy."
Tired from studying, Mia put down her pen and went over to give her son a hug. "Did Andre kick you out? Were you crying at the office every day? Son, you're a little man; you need to be independent, strong, and brave. Always remember, you're the son of the king of the jungle-a little tiger! Stop copying how I act all sweet with your dad."
The little tiger, once again "called out" by his mom with a gentle tap on his tiny nose, was on the brink of tears.
Mia quickly pulled her "delicate" son into her arms, wondering how she ended up with such a sensitive little cub.
"There, there, mommy won't tease you anymore. Sigh, your mom's about to 'go to jail' soon, so let's cherish these last moments together."
Henry cried out, feeling wronged.
The housekeeper chimed in, "Ma'am, before the master left, he said not to hold Henry for too long so you can focus on your studies."
Henry cleverly clung to his mom's hair, refusing to leave her arms. After all, he was just a baby who needed his mom.
Mia waved it off, "It's fine, just a little while longer. If you keep it quiet, my husband won't replace out."
She wandered around the living room with Henry, giving him little kisses, and when she got tired, she tried to put him in a baby walker. But Henry, being a smart cookie, tucked his legs up, refusing to go in, crying and wailing, not wanting to learn to walk. Mia sighed, "Henry, you're my little roadblock on the path to success."
Later on, she sat on a mat in the living room with her son, reading a book.
Anya was getting ready to start school too.
Since her boyfriend had given her strict orders not to visit the "chubby boy," Anya had been waiting for him every evening at the entrance to their complex.
When Leo finished work, he didn't wait for his manager to speak; he turned on his heel and left.
At the company, Lee and Leo had been at odds for a while. While Lee was scheming against Vincent, Leo had already slipped into the elevator to head home.
"Boss, taking Miss Qian out for
dinner with Leo and his girlfriend would be a nice way to show appreciation to your team and their families. During dinner, just relax and handle the hotel arrangements for the night to ensure you're satisfied!" Lee said
ove
with a sly grin.
Vincent chuckled, pointing at his trusty sidekick, his duplicity clear. "Lee, it's just dinner. Let's not make it complicated."
"Don't worry, Vincent. It's not complicated at all. It will definitely make your dreams come true, killing two birds with one stone!"
Lee whispered to Vincent, "Leo's still
young; his girlfriend deserves
someone successful like you, Vincent. He lacks experience and needs a wise father-in-law like
you guide him. Plus, only someone with your stature and success can make a business match with Chade Inc. work."
Vincent was intrigued, his imagination running wild, almost convinced that Lee's words were about to unfold. He nodded approvingly, patting Lee's leg. "Lee, if you can pull this off, I'll give you 5% of the company shares."
"Thanks, Vincent!" Lee was determined to make everything go flawlessly.
Lee knew that ever since Vincent had seen Leo's girlfriend, he'd been sneaking peeks at her photo on Leo's desk whenever Leo wasn't looking, filled with a desire to conquer.
Lee had even caught Vincent secretly taking a photo of the picture and saving it on his phone, along with Leo's profile picture, which was his girlfriend.
Lee realized Vincent had his eyes on Leo's girlfriend but also wanted to set his daughter up with the wealthy Leo.
Lee was more than willing to lend Vincent a hand, and they quickly struck a deal.
When Lee went to fetch Leo, "Where's Leo? In the restroom?"
A colleague, ready to leave, said, "Leo's already gone for the day."
"Who gave him permission to leave?"
Colleagues started packing up. Lately, inspired by Leo, they'd been diligent, leaving on time, and standing up against illegal overtime.
"It's the end of the workday." An older tech guy screwed the cap onto his water bottle, ready to head out.
Lee rushed to the manager's office, seeing Vincent daydreaming, and nervously said, "Vincent, tonight might not happen."
While folks queued for the elevator, Leo had already made his way to the complex entrance. "Chad." Anya called, darting across the crosswalk to his side, linking her arm with his.
"You're something else, you know that? You could've just waited for me at the entrance, yet you ran over here, only to cross back with me." Leo, feigning annoyance, held her hand, leading her back to the complex entrance. Anya beamed, "Chad, school's about to start."
Leo played along, "So school's starting, huh?"
Anya repeated, "Chad, I'm really starting school soon."
Leo knew what she was hinting at but acted oblivious. "School, so what?"
Anya pouted, giving his waist a playful pinch. "You're supposed to take me."
"I'm busy."
Anya stopped in her tracks. "Fine, I'm going home."
Leo pulled her back, wrapping her in his arms, looking at her pouty face. He leaned in and kissed her softly. "Do you even know where our car is parked?"
