The hotel's security happened to arrive at this moment. The sounds of chaotic footsteps could be heard at the door.

"Ms. Seymour!"

A group of people rushed in.

"Take my son out first!" Larissa pointed at Aster, who was still curled up under the study table. A guard went over and picked him up at once, while the rest surrounded Larissa and helped her to pin down the woman beneath her.

That woman resisted strongly, nearly shoving Larissa off and causing her to fall. It was thanks to the guards that Larissa did not crash onto the floor. Getting off the bed with that momentum, she pulled out her phone and called the police.

Hearing her making a phone call, the woman screamed, "Don't call the police!"

That voice...

Even if it was largely different from how it usually sounded, Larissa could still keenly tell that it was-

"Ruby Cole?"

She moved over to the head of the bed and told one guard to take off the woman's cap. Ruby's face was exposed.

"It's really you!" Larissa should have known.

Out of all the "old friends" she met ever since coming back, only Ruby had a motive to kidnap Aster.

Ruby looked up with red eyes even as she glared at Larissa. "Fuck yeah, bitch, you bet it's me!" She was very frank about it, as if she was not the least bit afraid of Larissa replaceing her out. "It's all because of you and your bastard son!" She shouted through gritted teeth, "If it weren't for you, how could Kevan take my Bethany away from me!"

Aster's unknown father was a constant thorn in Larissa's heart, and Ruby's description of "bastard" made her blow up.

"Say it again! I dare you!" She whipped her hand across Ruby's face.

Ruby had been pampered for years, so her skin was more tender than the average person's. Larissa's blow was pretty hard, so Ruby's face turned red at once and began swelling in no time at all. Ruby's eyes were tearing up. Perhaps it was because she did not want to be disgraced in front of Larissa, so she bit her lip stubbornly and refused to let the tears fall.

"Your son is a bastard with no father!" she laughed coldly, her eyes filled with venomous hate.

Larissa's hand whipped across Ruby's face once more.

"You're on my turf now, Ruby Cole, and now you've ended up in my hands. Even if I killed you today, no one would say a word. Don't think that it won't happen." She let out a sinister smile as she threatened her coldly.

The cruelty in Ruby's gaze receded some as fear and panic flashed through her eyes.

"You wouldn't dare!" she persisted stubbornly.

"What else is there that I wouldn't dare to do?" Larissa slapped her again before asking the guards in the room. "Did you see me hit her?"

Everyone shook their heads in unison. "No, ma'am!"

Larissa's smile grew wider while Ruby trembled even as she stared at the former with hatred, but she no longer dared to speak.

"Don't you ever dare touch my son again," Larissa warned Ruby. "If there is a next time, I will not spare you or your daughter!"

Larissa did not stay here long due to her concern for Aster. She let the security take over guarding Ruby, instructing them to wait for the police to deal with it all while she left the room by herself.

The guard with Aster was waiting outside. Aster was clinging onto the guard's shoulder, biting his lip even as tears ran down his cheeks, his little frame jerking every now and then.

Larissa's heart was in pieces. She went over in just three steps and brought him into her arms. After thanking the guard, she hurriedly went toward the elevator.
