Kevan put the popcorn bucket in front of Aster and asked, "Want some?"

Aster promptly pushed it away. "Give it to Mommy! She's crazy about this stuff."

So, Kevan turned to Larissa, but she waved her hand and forced a smile. "I'm still stuffed. Can't have another bite."

"Oh, okay." Kevan retrieved the popcorn.

Aster grew frustrated looking at their interaction, almost thumping his chest in annoyance. "Uncle Kevan, Mommy's just being polite! She's not full at all!" He grinned sweetly, showing no remorse for exposing his mom's little fib.

Larissa shot him an angry glare, but he did not fear her as Kevan was on his side.

Kevan simply thrust the popcorn into her lap, saying, "Take it. No need to be shy." She had no choice but to accept it, as she grumbled, "Thanks."

"You're welcome." Kevan smiled.

Well, she indeed liked eating popcorn. To be exact, she loved anything sweet. Perhaps life was too bitter for her that she needed some sweetness to compensate for the bitterness.

She was already well-acquainted with the story of "Forever Love." The comic had been adapted into multiple TV dramas across different countries and was considered timeless. When she was still in college, Wendy made her watch it countless times. She found the movie to be tedious, but Wendy would become obsessed each time. She didn't recognize any actors in the film, and the plot remained as dull as ever. After a while, she lost interest in it, and popcorn became her sole solace.

Suddenly, a hand reached over and accidentally brushed her hand, which was inside the popcorn bucket. The cool fingertips and familiar touch caused her body to tense inch by inch. Immediately, she withdrew her hand, fixating her gaze straight ahead, too fearful to even glance sideways.

Kevan snatched two popcorns and discreetly stole glances at her under the dim screen light. She was expressionless, making it impossible for him to discern her true emotions.

After a few minutes, he noticed her reaching for the popcorn again, so he also extended his hand into the bucket. Once again, his fingers brushed against the back of her palm. The slight skin contact exhilarated him to no end. His blood coursed through his veins at an accelerated pace.

She also grew more unsettled. Her mind went blank, and she could only hear her own heartbeat and nothing else uttered in the movie. Her mouth felt dry, and in a daze, she instinctively reached for the drink placed beside her with her left hand and took several sips.

After she had finished and was about to place the bottle back in place, she felt his gaze upon her. It was intense and impossible to ignore.

"W-what's the matter?" she stammered.

Kevan wore a somewhat helpless smile on his face. He gestured toward the drink she had just consumed and remarked, "Seems like this one is mine ..."

Her eyes widened, and she froze in place as if struck by lightning. She-she-she indirectly kissed him?

He reassured her half-jokingly, "Don't worry. I don't have any contagious diseases."

Her face instantly turned crimson. "I'm sorry!" She quickly apologized. "I'll go and buy you another one!" Without waiting for his response, she swiftly fled from her seat.
