Sweet Subterfuge novel by Trina Duo -
Chapter 479
Microworks Corporation had a loyal fanbase due to the reputation that the company had built up over the years.
At this critical juncture of the company's fate, these loyal followers banded together to fight against paid posters on the Internet. They were adamant about getting justice for Microworks Corporation and showing Rubik Corporation who was the true boss.
Kevan couldn't help but feel moved when he heard about the fans who supported his company.
It strengthened his determination to make good quality games that would meet the expectations of gamers who were fans of his company.
After having dinner with some clients, Kevan was on the way home.
He had drunk quite a bit of alcohol. Combined with his exhaustion from working late each day, he felt a rare migraine coming on.
Kevan leaned back into the seat and massaged his throbbing temples.
When he was about to close his eyes for a quick nap, his phone rang suddenly.
Furrowing his brows, he opened his eyes and retrieved his phone from his pocket.
It was a call from his mother.
Kevan felt a surge of annoyance.
Lately, whenever his mother contacted him, it was something regarding Bethany.
He answered the phone wearily, "Hello."
"Kevan ... "Violet's voice was trembling, as if she had just been crying.
Instinctively, the tone of her voice caught his attention. Kevan's tired eyes were wide open at that moment.
"What happened?" he asked in a low voice.
Violet sobbed softly, struggling to finish her sentence, "Your grandfather ...
he..."
Panicked, Kevan's emotions were stirred up, making him almost forget that he had to conceal his anxiety. "What happened to Grandpa?" "Your grandfather passed away!" Violet broke down in loud wails after uttering the last two words.
As if struck by lightning, Kevan froze in place.
His eyes wide, Kevan's jaw dropped in shock. There was no thought in his mind as he stared into space.
How could this have happened?
Kevan couldn't believe his ears.
Gradually, his eyes turned red and welled up with tears. Kevan bit his lower lip tightly to stop himself from crying.
He took a long time to suppress his surging emotions. Regaining his composure with much effort, he questioned Violet, "When did this happen?"
His voice was definitely hoarser than before.
"I received a call from Ben saying that it just happened." Violet blew her nose forcefully, but her voice sounded muffled again soon after.
"Your father and I are on our way to your grandfather's place. You should come to pay your respects as well. Although you lost your memory, your grandfather favored you among all your cousins. I think he would have wanted you to send him off personally."
Closing his eyes, Kevan agreed in a raspy voice, "Okay."
"I'll send you the address of Grandpa's house." With that, Violet hung up.
Two minutes later, a text message containing an address came in.
It was an address that Kevan was extremely familiar with.
He stared blankly at the message on his screen, gripping his phone tightly.
