Sweet Twins Indulge in Daddy's Love
Chapter 306 What Is She Talking About In Her Sleep

"Goodbye, Bobby!" Hiram recalled the events of the previous night. He looked intently at Bobby with raised eyebrows.

"Bye, Uncle Hiram. You took great care of us last night. You should ask my dad for a raise!" the child said, looking serious.

"Ha-ha!" Hiram laughed. "I'm glad you think I did a great job. I like taking care of you. As for the raise, I'll let you handle that." Hiram smiled at Charles. He then bade Nadia and Nancy goodbye and left.

"Daddy, Uncle Hiram deserves a raise in salary!" Nadia spoke first, beating Bobby to it.

"Alright. So, how much of a raise do you want to give him?" Charles asked with a smile.

"Ten thousand more!" Nadia suggested, raising a finger.

"Ten thousand?" Hiram already had a good salary. If it were raised, he would be the highest-paid staff in the company.

"Is there a problem with that, Daddy?" Bobby asked with a frown.

"Not at all, kids. Consider it done!" Charles approved. After all, it was he who forgot to pick them up in the first place. Whoever made a mistake should take responsibility for it.

Nancy was about to make some breakfast for herself and Charles when she got a message in her WeChat inbox.

Seeing it was from Doris, she was going to complain about Doris's not turning on her phone the previous night. But she was awestruck upon seeing the explosive message. "Doris is crazy!" she whispered.

She sent a message back. "Are you awake? What are you saying in your sleep?"

Nancy didn't understand what was going on. 'How does a pregnant woman court trouble all day long? Why is she hell-bent on getting a divorce? Will she ever give up?' Nancy ruminated.

Jay was good-natured and had his temper under control, fortunately for Doris. However, if he got pushed to the wall, he might lose his cool, and Doris would not even replace any shoulder to cry on.

In her house, Doris was reading Nancy's message. She was about to reply when Jay bumped in angrily.

He looked fierce enough to kill.

Doris trembled involuntarily. She had not seen Jay that angry in a long time.

'What's with him today?' she thought fearfully.

"What's wrong with you?" She sensed that she was afraid because she felt guilty.

"What's wrong? Why don't you tell me where Laura is?" Jay shouted, grabbing her shoulder.

The servants on duty were surprised at Jay's uproar.

"Jay! What's wrong with you? Are you crazy?" Doris panicked at the mention of Laura's name.

She didn't know where the girl was. And why was Jay suddenly looking for her?

Had he found out about the stunt she pulled the previous night?

Doris looked at him from the corner of her eyes and read sadness on his face. He looked so troubled that he seemed to want to hit her. Cold shivers ran down her spine.

She had guessed right. Jay was already aware of what she had done.

That morning, Hanson had found out that it was Laura who hired all the women.

He could not replace Laura, so he went straight to report the matter to Jay.

Jay had exploded on the spot. He now knew why Doris was behaving kindly the night before. She had plans to test him.

Such a stupid woman!

He had driven out immediately to confront her about it.

Doris stammered, "Am I supposed to know where Laura is?"

"Woman, are you still playing games with me? You think I don't know that it was you who sent those girls last night?" Jay fumed. "Laura is a mere servant of the Fang's family. She won't do anything except you permit her. I demand to know the truth now, or I'll divorce you!" Jay had finally had it. He had overlooked her stubbornness for a long time. But now, she was playing tricks? How could she hire women to test his loyalty?

'Divorce?'

Doris cringed at the word. She realized that even though she had mentioned divorce, she only used it to vent anger. Her growing belly was something for her to consider. How could she file for divorce? Besides, Jay never took her words seriously. Why was he bringing up the topic now?

"If you want a divorce, you'll have to get this baby out of me first!" shouted Doris.

"Fine! Since you don't want this baby, I don't want it either. Let's go to the hospital right now and get this over with!" Jay didn't mean that. He wanted to frighten and get the truth out of her. He could never genuinely suggest getting rid of the baby, and besides, Doris would never agree to it.

She burst into tears just as he had expected.

"You're heartless! I'm three months pregnant, and you're saying now that you don't want the baby? Do you even have any conscience? You are so irresponsible! I agree to the divorce. I'll raise the child myself!' Doris wiped her face as more tears ran down.

Jay didn't want things to get out of hand. He softened his voice and reached out to hold her. "I'm not irresponsible, Doris. But please, tell me the truth, where's Laura?"

"She... she ran off with my money!" Doris cried, pitying herself for losing money.

"How much?" asked Jay.

"A million!"

Jay did not respond immediately.

He was lost in thoughts. 'This woman has always been careless and stubborn, but I've also seen her shrewdness. How could she give one million to a mere servant?' "Forgive me, Jay," Doris pleaded quietly.

One million was not a problem for him. He was most concerned about what Laura did.

He was disappointed in her.

"What's next now?" Noticing his lips pressed together in deep thoughts, Doris quietly asked again.

Jay looked at her calmly and asked, "Are you ever going to trust me?"

"I don't know... One reason is..." Doris searched for words. She knew more than anyone else that she didn't trust Jay at all.

The first impression always last long. It couldn't be changed in a hurry.

"Alright. It's okay if you don't trust me. But in the future, if you're suspicious, just follow me. Follow me everywhere if you have to. Don't spend money to hire women to test me ever again. Do you understand?" Jay comforted softly.

"So, you... you won't divorce me?" Doris sounded clueless.

"I'm in love with you, Doris. How could I divorce you?" he admitted with a helpless smile.

"You rogue! I'll divorce you if you don't divorce me!" Doris had felt embarrassed, so she said that to save face.
