Sweet Twins Indulge in Daddy's Love
Chapter 319 The Rival In Love

"Did mommy sleep early tonight?" Nadia asked curiously.

"Well... Yes," answered Charles, feeling a little guilty about lying to them.

"Mommy, we're home." Nadia was persistently knocking on Nancy's bedroom door.

However, there was no response coming from their mother.

"Daddy, what's wrong with mommy today?" Bobby asked, looking at Charles with a dejected expression.

Charles smiled at them awkwardly and said, "Your mommy is just really tired. The two of you have to believe me."

"We know mommy really well. If there was no reason, she would never just ignore us like this. We're her most treasured children!" said Bobby, a bleak expression on his face.

He continued, "Every time that Nadia and I come back home, mommy would always be the first to greet us.

This time, mommy can't even respond to us when we're knocking on her door. It's strange, isn't it?"

"Brother, do you think it's because mommy misses our 'dad'?" Nadia asked imploringly, after having thought about it for a while.

Bobby nodded his eagerly and said, "Perhaps."

Clearly, Bobby did this on purpose. Of course he knew who his 'dad' really was.

In that moment, he thought, 'No matter what happens, as long as there is someone competing with daddy, then at least daddy would be pressured to be a better man. Daddy and mommy can't just waste their lives running after each other like this. Since mommy is a woman, how could it be so difficult for daddy to win a woman's heart? Why can't he just step up his game?'

As expected, the expression on Charles' face darkened even more.

Additionally, Nadia continued, "Daddy, can I use your phone..."

Before she could finish her sentence, she saw the furious look on Charles' face.

Nadia paused and took a deep breath.

"Hey, Nadia, you're a tough girl, aren't you? Why are you suddenly so timid?" Bobby sneered and said, "Daddy, can I get your phone? I need it."

"Why? What are you going to do?" Charles' voice sounded a little displeased.

"I just want to call our 'dad'. It seems that mommy is unhappy because she misses him. Let him see her," Bobby said with a dead serious expression.

When he heard this, Charles' clenched his fists and his eyes looked like they might pop out.

Nadia was starting to get so frightened that she hid behind Bobby and grabbed on his shirt tightly.

After quite some time of silence, Charles said slowly with a tight jaw, "I'm your daddy. Don't forget, that I am the only daddy that you can have. Do you understand?"

Bobby nodded earnestly. "Yes, I know that you are our daddy, but besides that, we also have a godfather and a 'dad'."

"You can't just call anybody your 'dad'," Charles growled, unable to resist himself. He couldn't fathom the reason why Bobby would oppose him so suddenly. "Why?" asked Bobby curiously.

"Because... He has nothing to do with you," Charles explained as patiently as he could.

"But then that means that you have nothing to do with Nadia. How come Nadia can call you daddy, but I can't call Uncle Edward, 'dad'?" Bobby continued to ask, trying to understand what Charles meant. The thought of this was driving Charles mad. "You just can't! Don't refute your daddy."

When all of this was unfolding, there was dark feeling gnawing at Charles' spine. It was that Edward came back so that he could one day take Nancy and the children away from him.

Bobby stared at Charles in disbelief and confusion. "Daddy, what's wrong with you today? Did you and mommy get into a fight again?"

The cunning little boy carefully read the expression on Charles' face and noticed that gloom crept into Charles' heart, more than it had before.

"You know how much I love your mother. Why would I want to quarrel with her?" Charles said confidently.

"Well, we're back home, so why won't mommy come out?" Bobby muttered softly, as if he were speaking to himself. He walked back into Nancy's bedroom and shouted, "Mommy, come out! If you don't, Nadia and I will never speak to you again!"

The truth was that Nancy could hear the voices of Bobby and Nadia all along.

It wasn't that she didn't want to come out and see them, but in her current state, she didn't know how to face them at all.

"Mommy, I miss you," Nadia whispered in a somber voice, placing her ear near the door.

Even through the door, Nancy could tell that she was discouraged, and the thought of this made her heart shatter in a disarray of pieces. She sluggishly rolled off her bed and slowly walked towards the door to open it.

When the door opened, Bobby was taken aback from his mother's desolate appearance.

"Mommy, are you okay?" Bobby asked anxiously.

Nancy sniffed, and in a frail voice she said, 'Tm fine, kids. Don't worry about me."

"Mommy, you don't look all right at all. You're an adult now. Why don't you know how to take care of yourself?" Bobby scolded her.

"Yes, mommy. What's wrong with you? You don't look so good!" Nadia scowled. She was so shocked from the sight of her mother that she felt like she was about to cry.

With a blank face, Nancy faced her gaze towards Charles.

Bobby walked over Charles in a cold formality. "Daddy, I have to talk to you," he said in a low voice.

"What do you want to talk about?" In Charles' perspective, he thought that his son should have a good conversation with Nancy. He didn't know why Bobby wanted to talk to him.

"You're a man, aren't you?" Bobby asked.

Charles bent down to Bobby's level and held his arm with both his hands. He looked straight into his eyes and asked, "Bobby, why do you have to ask me that? Of course, your daddy is a man. There is no doubt about it. II

"Well, since you're a man, then why did you allow to mommy be like this? I'm not happy about this!"

"Yes, I'm unhappy about this too!" Nadia added.

"You are still young and don't know much about how things work with adults. All you have to remember is that your daddy loves your mommy and both of you very much!" It wasn't like he could simply explain that situation between him and Nancy so blatantly to the children.

"Daddy, if you truly love mommy, you'll make sure that she can recover as soon as possible. If she doesn't feel any better by tomorrow, Nadia and I will take her away from here. We wouldn't want to live with you anymore if that's the case. It's all up to you!" scolded Bobby in a stubborn manner. His arrogance implied that there was no more room for negotiation.

In this respect, Bobby started to really resemble his father.

Even before Edward's arrival, Charles would never do anything to allow Nancy to leave him. What more now that Edward was back in their lives. Edward was his rival in love, so he would protect Nancy at all costs.

Since he was the biological father of the children, he surely couldn't be defeated by this man who simply appeared out of nowhere.

For now, Charles' main objective was to make sure that he pleased Nancy and made sure that she was happy with him as soon as possible.

He knew that all of this was happening because he acted so violently towards Nancy that night.

"Nadia, do you like Uncle Edward?" Somehow, Charles lost all his confidence in himself.

In a self-defeated state, he felt like he needed a little bit of support.

When all these feelings crashed down on him, he expectantly looked at Nadia.

Nadia nodded obediently and answered, "Yes, daddy. Uncle Edward is a good man, so Nadia likes him very much!"

Charles was flushed with jealousy. "Then, do you like daddy?"

Nadia held his face with both her hands and with a smile, she said, "Of course I do. Daddy is also a good man." "Then tell me, who do you prefer between the two of us?" Charles probed even further.
