Sweet Twins Indulge in Daddy's Love -
Chapter 375 The Past
Perhaps it was because Doris was too tired and disheartened, but when a car sped right over her, she didn't bother to dodge away. It seemed to her that the best thing to do by this point was to just leave the world this way. If she was simply dead, all the sorrow and pain would be over.
"Hey, girl! Are you insane?" A person suddenly pulled her hard from behind and the car swiftly whooshed past her.
"You bitch! If you want to die, you should go home and replace a rope to hang yourself! Don't hurt me in the process!" the driver shouted angrily at her.
A melancholic smile appeared on Doris' lips. She raised her head and the looked at the woman who was holding her arm. "Why did you save me?" she asked.
The person who saved her was an elder woman, who looked like she was past her 50's. Although she covered her face with heavy makeup, the wrinkles on her face were still very apparent.
"Silly girl. Since I saw it happening, of course I must save you." The woman brought her to a bar by the roadside and asked Doris to sit down. A few moments later she came back and brought her a hot cup of coffee. "Have some coffee to warm up your body."
Doris meekly took the cup with both her hands and thanked the woman
The woman smiled back at her and raised her hand to smoothen the hair that was covering her face. "What happened to you?" "Ah... I was framed," answered Doris in a frail, low voice.
"You really are silly girl, aren't you? Even if you have been framed, you should still strive for a better life. Why would you want to die? You really don't seem very ambitious. Tell me, who had you offended?" Despite the reprimanding nature of her words, her voice was very gentle.
"Samuel Liang..."
The woman's face froze with her mouth wide open from shock. After a long lingering silence, she asked, "Myron Liang?"
Doris was swirling the cup of coffee with her hands and nodded gently.
"Then you... I... Oh!" The woman's smile was not as calm was it was just a little while ago. The corners of her lips were a little stiff from tension. "Girl, I still have a little money left with me. Come on, take it and leave this place as soon as possible!"
With uncertainty, Doris took the money, her body trembling all over with fear.
After that, Doris left the small town and came to this city to turn over a new leaf. She finished her education while working a part-time job.
Over the years, whenever Doris was with her classmates or workmates, she never mentioned any of her family or relatives.
Now that she suddenly saw Felix again, the scar that she buried for so long had suddenly been dug out and immediately bled.
When Nancy noticed that Doris face turned incredibly pale, she took her hand and said, "Let's go, Doris."
Doris had mentioned Felix to Nancy several times before, but every time she did, she always seemed to think greatly of the man. She always said that he was her first love.
However, this time Doris didn't look happy to see him at all.
Nancy assumed that Felix must have done something to hurt Doris.
It was true that every time Doris talked about Felix in front her Nancy, she would always say that he was a tender, warm and good man.
But she was simply thinking about a memory and fantasy that had been long gone.
She only thought of the memories of when he was still her first love.
It could also be said that her behavior was a form of escape, self-consolation or self-deception.
That seemed to be the only case; otherwise, she wouldn't be feeling all the pain and suffering she was right now.
"Doris, I beg you. I am really sorry for whatever happened in the past. However, my mother is seriously ill. All she wants is to see you and apologize to you properly!" Felix pleaded as he grabbed Doris' arm. He seemed anxious and feeble.
When Nancy saw this man, she thought it was the kind of man he despised the most-men who were weak and melancholic, as if they were begging for pity.
People should be more realistic than to live in a reverie of a daydream. Love and romance were nothing but a false reality.
So she hastily grabbed Doris' arm and told him off. "Felix, if you want to be a man, you need to let go of Doris. You can clearly see that she is now pregnant. It doesn't matter what happened between the two of you before because she is now someone else's wife. Don't try to look for her anymore!"
Felix completely ignored Nancy's words and presence.
He simply continued to beg Doris with a pitiful expression. "Doris, you remember what happened, don't you? In the past, when you were being beaten and abused by your stepmother, it was my mother who had taken you in and saved your life. You haven't forgotten that, right? Now that she is seriously ill, will you really be so insensitive that you can't bother to give her a visit? Doris, have you become so cruel?" In fact, Doris remembered every single bit of it.
In her younger years, she got into a fight with someone and her stepmother had thrown her out of their home. It was Felix's mother who had taken her in and took care of her.
Of course she remembered everything. However, Doris didn't know if it necessarily meant that their past kindness could nullify the harmful things they caused her afterwards. She stood there, completely detached from reality, as if she suddenly returned back to her traumatic past.
No friends, no happiness, no expression.
"Doris, come on. Let's go!" Nancy didn't want to stay there any longer. Doris looked like she was about to pass out, and she was really worried for her.
"Nancy, I think you should drive back by yourself. I'm going to visit auntie," said Doris with a little reluctance.
"Then I'm going with you!" Nancy didn't feel secure about Doris leaving with a man like that.
However, there was also no way that Doris would be willing to let anyone else replace out about her horrible past.
She couldn't allow that to happen, even if Nancy was her best friend.
"Nancy, everything is fine. You should go ahead." As Doris spoke, she pulled off her hand from Nancy's grip and said, "Drive the car back home and don't tell Jay where I went. I'll be back before you know it!" "Are you sure about this?" Nancy asked, completely concerned about the safety of her friend.
"We grew up together. Don't worry. I won't let anything happen to her," Felix said reassuringly.
There was a time that Doris thought that even if anyone in the world could hurt her, she was sure that Felix never would.
Her assumptions and trust in him had already been proven wrong.
Everything that happened in the past was all wrong.
"Nancy, be careful on your way home. Remember, don't let Jay replace out where I went." After she said that, Doris got inside Felix's car.
Left there completely alone, Nancy had no choice but to drive back home.
On the ride home, Nancy started to feel a little guilty about having to hide Doris' whereabouts from Jay.
Felix drove her through several streets and alleys. After a long time, they finally stopped by a yard that had been abandoned and dilapidated.
He smiled at her apologetically and said, "Doris, I hope you don't mind that it's a little dirty here. You seem to live in prosperity now. Our house is so dirty that I'm afraid that you might not want to go inside." "No, it's not a problem. I'll only be here for a while," Doris said slowly, as she observed the place quietly.
"Alright," replied Felix.
Around the same time, they heard a fierce cough coming from the room.
Doris assumed that it was probably Felix's mother.
After settling down for a bit, Doris walked towards the room. When she got inside, the room was dim. She saw a tiny bed sitting in the corner of the room, on which an old lady was lying down. "Auntie!" Doris greeted enthusiastically.
"Who's here?" the old woman asked, catching her breath.
"Mother, Doris is here. Don't you always talk about how you miss her? I finally brought her here, like you wanted. Look, she's going to be mother now!" Felix gently nudged Doris towards his mother. "Oh, it's really Doris. Come here and let me look at you," the old woman said while she rubbed her eyes.
The place was slummy and decaying, beyond her expectations. She hadn't come back here for so many years and she never expected to ever return.
How was everything over here?
