Doris sneered, "Felix, it doesn't matter whether or not I love Jay, but I can't be with you anymore!"

"Why not?" Felix asked in confusion, unable to understand what Doris was saying.

Doris kept mum and didn't say a word. To be honest, she didn't know why either.

It might be because Jay had given her an affluent and wealthy life, or her pregnancy could also be the reason.

But then again, perhaps it may be because for a long time, she had no expectation anymore of replaceing love! "Is something wrong with you, Doris?" Felix asked worriedly as he suddenly saw Doris falling to the ground.

He hurriedly held her in his arms and checked again. "Doris, tell me. What's wrong with you?"

This girl had just been fine a short while ago. What caused her to suddenly faint now?

"I..." Doris' consciousness seemed to be slipping further and further away. She wanted to call Jay's name, but before she could say anything, her vision turned black and she completely fainted. "Doris!" Felix shouted anxiously.

But no matter how hard he shouted, he couldn't get any response from Doris and she remained unconscious.

In another part of the city, Jay was still searching frantically for the whereabouts of Doris.

Unfortunately, he wasn't able to replace her even after searching the whole slum.

"Damn it! Where the hell could you be, Doris?" Jay was already very flustered by that time. The possibility of losing Doris made him feel desperate and afraid.

The suffocating feeling made Jay cry out in anguish, "Where on earth could you be, Doris? I know! Felix, replace out where Felix is."

"Yes, Mr. Fang!" Hanson replied hurriedly.

But Jay quickly realized that replaceing Felix in this city was difficult because he did not live there.

"Mr. Fang, I guess that person doesn't even have a temporary residence certificate here. If we are to continue looking for him like this, the odds of replaceing him are slim. It is similar to looking for a needle in a haystack!" added Hanson rationally.

After a moment's silence, Jay opened his mouth and fiercely said word by word, "I do not care. We have to replace Doris at all costs tonight!"

"Yes, sir!" Hanson had no choice but to adhere to Jay's command. He could guess how restless Jay was, especially since Doris was pregnant.

So, he went with his men and continued on their pointless search.

He checked all the surveillance video he could get everywhere to see if there was any trace of Doris.

This city was large and the monitoring equipment was highly advanced, but the place where Felix lived was due to be demolished. Because of it, the surveillance cameras in their vicinity had already been removed, making it difficult to investigate.

Sitting in the car, Jay couldn't explain the nerve-wracking feeling on his chest. It was as if a hole had been punched straight into it, causing him immense pain and grief.

He realized right there and then that Doris had already become an integral part of his life.

In the long, cold and quiet night, Jay called out Doris' name desperately, "Doris, Doris... Where on earth could you be?"

Time slowly passed by as Jay sat in the car, still in a daze. He had a dream in which he saw Doris covered in blood as she was being chased by a fiend.

He did everything he could to run over to her, but his legs were pressed by something heavy and he couldn't move at all.

That gut-wrenching feeling was worse than death!

"Doris!" Jay suddenly woke up from his dream and found that his whole body was shivering, wet with cold sweat.

And like in his dreams, his legs were numb and unable to move!

"Doris, where on earth could you be at this time?" Jay repeatedly smacked his hands on his legs and continuously shouted in despair.

It seemed that after this night, the possibility of losing Doris was big.

Just when Jay was about to fall in deep desperation, he suddenly received a call from Hanson.

"Mr. Fang, I finally got some news about Mrs. Fang!"

Jay asked worriedly, still in shock, "Where is she? Is she okay?"

"She's in the No. Thirty-two slum. Felix had rented a dilapidated house there. But Mrs. Fang did not look well..." Hanson added cautiously.

After checking the surveillance cameras everywhere, he still couldn't replace a trace of Doris. Fortunately, at the gate of the Fang's family villa, he accidentally saw her getting out of Felix's car. However, he also saw how she fainted, and how Felix put her inside his broken car and then drove away.

Through the cameras, he was able to track Felix all the way to his residence!

Knowing that there might be something wrong with Doris, Hanson was afraid to break in without permission. The sudden intrusion might cause Doris to panic and cause harm to the baby in her belly. After considering the pros and cons, he called Jay up in a hurry.

Upon hearing what happened to Doris, Jay instantly froze.

Had something wrong happened to Doris?

All of a sudden, there was an emptiness on his heart. His voice was so ethereal that it seemed to come from the sky, "Hanson... Was there something wrong with Doris?"

After having realized that what he had said might have frightened Jay more, Hanson hurriedly continued, "I only saw Mrs. Fang passing out. The man called Felix was able to catch her and he held her tightly and then got in the car. As for what happened after that... I can only guess! Mr. Fang, should I barge inside and forcefully take Mrs. Fang away now?"

"No, give me the specific address. Don't do anything and wait for me. I'll be there immediately!" Right after Jay finished speaking, he started the car and drove to Felix's residence.

Hanson sent the address right away and told his subordinates not to act rashly while they waited for Jay to arrive.

Meanwhile, in the rental house, Doris was lying on Felix's bed.

Her eyes were tightly closed and she didn't look too well.

Under the dim light, Felix and his mother were both looking at her with concern.

"Doctor, how is she? Is she okay?"

Felix asked the doctor who had just finished examining Doris's condition. At that time, he was so scared and afraid that the baby would have incurred an accident.

The doctor packed up all kinds of small equipment and said, "There is no bleeding under the woman's lower part, so the baby should be fine. However, she is a little weak and should take it easy for now. She should be fine after a few days of rest."

"Well, as long as she is fine, that's good to know," Felix's mother replied anxiously in between coughs.

"Okay," Felix answered in a low voice, relief showing on his voice.

The doctor stood up and left, with Felix following her to send her out.

"Doris, you are also from a poor family. If you have a hard time with your husband, why don't you choose to be together with Felix instead? I'll be at ease knowing you will accompany him when I leave this world and I won't have to worry about him anymore!" Felix's mother said endearingly as she reached out her hand and gently touched Doris's cheek.

Just then, a noise outside could be heard.

She was startled. Very few people came here to visit. Why was there such a commotion outside all of a sudden?

"Felix, is that you? What's going on? It's already so late. Why is someone here?"

But she didn't hear any reply from Felix.

By then, Jay and Hanson had appeared at the door.

Felix looked at him without any trace of fear showing on his face.

"Are you Felix?" As soon as Jay opened his mouth, he could not hide the deep contempt he felt in his voice.

Yes, in Jay's world, money had never been a problem.

In his entire life, he had never seen someone as poor as Felix!

However, even though the man was wearing shabby clothes, he still looked rather imposing!
