Swept Into a Fairytale Marriage

Chapter 1 Rushing to Marry Herself Off

August in Ronson City was hot. Farrah Tate stood at the marriage registration counter at city hall as she filled in her details. Beside her stood a regal–looking man. His demeanor made him stand out; even the staff couldn’t help stealing a few more glances.

“Adrian….” Farrah stopped writing. “Sorry, what’s your name again?”

The staff was surprised to hear that. “Don’t you two know each other?”

The man ignored her and took the pen from Farrah. He bent slightly and wrote his name on the form- Adrian Locke.

After completing all the procedures, they walked out of city hall, Adrian’s brows were slightly furrowed as he said coolly, “I only married you because Grandpa wanted it. What are you trying to achieve by marrying me?”

“I just want a companion who’ll be with me when I grow old,” Farrah said without hesitation. “With my family situation, no one would want to marry me. I’ll likely grow old alone.”

Adrian was surprised by her candor, but he didn’t comment on it. “I’ll pick you up this afternoon to visit Grandpa.”

Then, he handed her a key and building access card. The address is Unit 2801, Block 88, Floral Spring Residences. Move in with me as soon as possible.”

She watched him and listened to his indifferent words. As soon as she accepted his things, he turned and left. She stared at his back and saw his car in the distance, but she didn’t know it was a Lamborghini.

She also didn’t know his true identity. They were meeting for the first time that day.

Farrah was in a hurry to marry him because she had to save herself. She didn’t know Adrian’s grandfather, Philip Locke, well. She’d only met Philip twice, but the latter was sure she was meant to be Adrian’s wife.

mborghini sped off, Farrah returned to her senses and got into a cab. She sat in the backseat, her mood a little grim. Her thoughts wandered_

“I’m thoroughly disappointed in you, Steven! Mason is about to sit for his college entrance exams soon; how much money have you lost gambling this time?

“Your creditors went all the way to school to get their money! This might affect Mason’s studies and even get him expelled! His future will be ruined!”

“Is screaming all you can do? Get a divorce if you’re so unhappy! It’s not too late to leave now; you can take Mason with you! You’re so concerned about his education, right? You can raise him yourself!”

“Don’t think I don’t want to! I’ve just been holding back for Mason’s sake–once he’s in college, I’m immediately getting a divorce! I’d rather beg on the streets than wait for you to give me a penny! I stuck around to give Mason a complete family, but he’s just had to suffer more…”

Farrah’s parents, Steven Tate and Jodie Patton, had argued again early in the morning. Jodie’s despair and hysterics came after Steven’s creditors had taken away their TV, the only thing left in their house worth anything.

This wasn’t what had driven Farrah to marry herself off to someone, though. The straw that broke the

camel’s back was the phone call she’d overheard last night.

Steven, a gambler, wanted to sell her off for 200 thousand dollars by forcing her to marry a gangster in

their town!

That was why she’d hurried to get married that day. She’d agreed to Philip’s request.

Philip told her his grandson had a house, a car, a stable job, and no bad habits. He hoped she would consider him.

The cab drove toward Aireton. Farrah returned to her senses and called Jodie. “Mom, pack your things. I’m coming to pick you up now. You’re moving out of there and living elsewhere from today onward.”

“Farrah, don’t come-” The call was cut off before Jodie could finish. Her phone had clearly been taken. from her.

“Mom? Hello? Mom!” Farrah panicked. She gripped her phone tightly and urged the cab driver to speed up..
