Chapter 30 Epilogue

The True Story of Reality of Don't Show your Face Epilogue

Hyeop woke up from his nightmare and saw himself back in his apartment. He opened his eyes in the reality, this is not another bullcrap nightmare that he always doomed, caught in a nightmare from which there was no escape.

It was the same dream he'd suffered every few days since the mission that had nearly killed them all that terrible, endless night in winter.

Back when only a few students of Sesong University had been hurt by the secret administration and the thought that they've been carrying the virus that Hyeop absolutely don't know; back when he was still stupid enough to think that people just rioting over something like company issues but the truth was; they've been gone berserk for some reason.

Back when alphas were captured by those administration, betas have been murdered by other packs and omega...

Omega have been put in isolation for examination.

The ten of them was lucky enough to survive that night but the bad thing was that they were separated from the others.

He remembered what that past was like five years ago. It was awful, like a nightmare.

In the memory, he and the other of them - Jinki, Homin, and Jiwook - waited anxiously for rescue at the hidden school laboratory, all of them were exhausted, wounded, and very aware that the buildings around and beneath them were about to attack by those insane people or the squad itself.

It was dawn, cool light coming in through the windows that were blocked, the stillness broken only by the welcome sound of the approaching helicopter.

Hyeop doesn't want to remember anything in the past. It was now over and everything was back to how it supposed to be. His friends are fine and the city too but himself was not fine since then.

He laid still for a moment, breathing deeply, moving his hand away from the loaded Beretta under his pillow; it had become a reflex, and one he wasn't sorry to have developed.

"Useless against nightmares, though," he muttered and sat up.

He remembered that this day is the day when they all about to graduate in Sesong University and become a nice researcher. He must go now but it still early though to get ready.

His hands moved to his neck and felt something odd on it.

It felt like a bite. Did something tried to sneak in his apartment and bit his neck? It must be then but who the heck?

"Must be some insects," he said and took his phone to check the latest news. When he opened his account, he saw the nine of them being one group in the picture and looked really happy without him. He remembered that his friends loathed him that much for being an assh*le.

"I'm happy for them, if they don't want me to be their friend then I must accept that..."

He'd been talking to himself for days now; sometimes, he thought it was the only thing that kept him sane. It just feels so lonely without anyone at his side. No one either want to talk to him anymore.

Gray light crept in through the blinds, casting the small bedroom in shadow. The digital clock on the nightstand was still working even though he has broken it many times.

It was nearly three in the afternoon. He'd slept

for almost hours, the most he'd managed to get in the last three days.

He got up from his bed and headed to the bathroom and into the sink, staring at his reflection. He stared at it for almost an hour before came into the thought of the past. If ever he helped one of the students then his face wasn't like this anymore.

He looked at his phone and checked Jiwook's current photo. If he just do the move on and helped the poor student then Jiwook won't do it and he is the one who will receive the situation he was currently in. He should pay him a visit. Hyeop gasped when his throat suddenly hurt. He dropped his phone and looked at his reflection while holding his throat. His eyes widen when he saw his own eyes turned all white as the black veins spreading throughout his body like he was going to be a monster. Skin became more paler and blood leaking out of his throat. His vision has blood spreading all over it.

His breath quickened in panick and he searched his gun until he saw the pistol in the sink. He took it with his trembling hands, heart beating frantically fast.

What is happening to him?

Was this the virus they're talking about?

He pointed the edge of the pistol on his temple before closing his eyes.

Maybe this is his payment for being a coward.

BANG!

A loud explosion woke Hyeop up from that another bullcrap nightmare. He was back in his apartment but it was loud outside and he can see red and blue lights coming through the spaces of his window. He could hear police sirens, explosion and screaming from people outside. His heart picked a beat when he remembered his dream about the rioting people but the rioting seemed worst as his dream.

What is happening outside?

He sat up from his bed and checked his hands and his throat. Nothing weird. He checked the time on the nightstand and saw that it was 8 in the evening. Just then he noticed that he was still wearing his school uniform. He must be overslept when he came home. He checked his knees when he felt something hurt on it and just when he remembered that he stripped on the stairs.

He took his phone and checked the news considering that there was a riot outside of his apartment. His instinct is telling him to get out or check what is going on.

A message from his auntie Jia telling him to get out and meet her at the train station which his aunt never told once as such a hurry.

He ignored the message and went through in the news.

He saw the news that the mutilated body of 35year old Kim Gayeon was discovered late yesterday in an abandoned gas station not far from her home in Asan Seoul City, making her another victim of the supposed "unknown group of killers" to be found in or near the Han district in the last month.

Consistent with the coroner reports of the

other recent victims, Gayeon's corpse showed evidence of having been partially eaten like the other victims, her insides were torn away like an slaughtered animal and based on the bite patterns apparently formed by human jaws.

Shortly after the discovery of Kim Gayeon's corpse by the random people at approximately nine o'clock last night, Chief Jung made a brief statement insisting that the A. Team is working diligently to apprehend the perpetrators of such heinous crimes and that he is currently consulting with the city officials about more drastic protection measures for Seoul citizens.

In addition to the murderous spree of the cannibal killers, the students who were having a camp trip including the teachers have died from probably animal attacks in Seoul forest in the past several weeks. People started to panic and that lead to rioting.

There was a video of the tire that is happening and Hyeop tap it to watch.

Speculation that gathered near in the subways to see a long line of cop and cars and ambulances while more of it flying down the road heading west. The man who recording with his phone could still hear them for a long time after they had gone, wondering what the hell was going on that they needed that many officers heading in the same direction.

"With the news and all it's kinda scary to see them flying down the road like that," said the guy in the video.

The guy beside him gave him a nervous smile that didn't really work. "And this..." he pointed at the lined up cars beside them.

The camera landed on the chaos that keep ringing the whole part of this city. Polices walking with a stretcher with a corpse above it, two, three and more of them, around more than twenty dead people found in the subway. "What is really going on?"

And as just that, the weird bizarre happened as the white fabric of the blankets that covering the corpses suddenly soaked in crimson blood. The people around it gasped and quickly backed away. This is the first time for everyone seeing something like this and it's really scary.

"No one knows why and why this calamity keep coming," the guy said.

A loud screech and screams filled the air from the other side of the road and that was when the recording has stopped but he could see them running to that directions with his friend following behind.

It turned to one a disaster scene for him when he played another video as he saw the place where people appeared to be rioting. The sound was turned all the way down. The people or reporters were saying about the situation and were talking about the riot, about how the police had been overwhelmed. Then another loud of cracking sound and broken bottles heard to the side near the riot.

He could clearly see the panic and terror on some of those faces and yet in others there appeared to be only rage. Some of streets were in fire as the people throwing explosive bottles towards to each group of people. Few people tried to break inside the shops and took supplies. From the CCTV he can see few people were tackled by other people then the camera died after that. Hyeop watched with shock and mixed emotions of fear when a man with a bloody face and bulging eyes tackled a woman in a blue dress, although he could not hear it, he could conclude that the woman screamed far better than she wanted to.

Hyeop don't know if the man was r*ping the girl but he attacked her neck then the video spun and just then, a guy attacked whoever holding the camera. The camera rolled under the car and he can see the guy laid on the ground while twitching and the guy who attacked him seemed like eating him.

Are those zombies?

His conclusion wasn't right after he saw the guy on top of his victim looked up to replace another victim. He saw his face with many eyes and his skin seemingly dissolving until he can see his mouth that was across his face. It stood up and run. Hyeop quickly turned off his phone, still hearing the commotion outside. Whatever happening in the video that what is currently happening in the outside right now.

He stood up and muttering darkly before he hurried to the sink, feeling tensed and angry with himself for not getting ready earlier for this and end up falling asleep. He don't have much time to change his clothes and grabbed his things, wearing his drop leg holster on his left leg and Bandolier. He wondered sometime of why Sesong wearing knee short and knee shocks instead of pants but he don't give a feedback about it. He liked it though. He opened the small drawer and get his Beretta and pistol along with the magazines.

It was the case, the damn case what happened five years ago and what happened that time is currently happening right now. He'd picked up his jacket and wore it as he felt more and more frustrated as the time slipped past and he'd failed to come up with anything new research about it. He is the researcher but why he can't do his study very well?

His phone rang and he picked it up as soon he was out of the bathroom. He looked at the caller and saw his auntie Jia who was calling. He was about to answer it but something suddenly broke into his apartment by breaking the wall. The impact sent Hyeop into the air and into the wall. He hurriedly pulled his pistol from his leg holster and shot the human figure on the smoke before standing up.

But to his surprise, the guy held his neck and lifted him up against the wall. He whimpered and struggle to break free from his grasp but it was no use. His grip was like an iron strong hold. His eyes moved to the guy and his eyes widen when he saw one of his schoolmates, one of those alphas who had been captured by the unknown administration. He was wearing suits or gear. "Confirm... he is the one," he said and about to bring something out when someone suddenly squeezed his head with a big hand.

The guy instantly let go of him and he fell on the floor. He looked up and see the terminator-looking guy who was wearing a cloak and bowler hat. His expression is like a stone but he can see something in him that he could not pin point. Hyeop did not waste any time and took his flew pistol and shot the monster before he dashed outside of his door. But the monster was fast and grabbed his torso with his big hand. Hyeop groaned and pulled his knife out, stabbing the big hand that clasped around him.

He run out of his apartment and took the stairs because he knew the elevator has been ruined by this time. Hyeop almost screamed when the monster break through the walls. What this monster even wanted from him? Why he the only one who chased by this monster?!

He ran fast as he could until he reached the exit door that lead to the narrow alley. Just in time when he exits, loud explosion boomed out of the alley. Hyeop once again flew on the ground. He can hear low growls and very disturbing moans coming from outside this alley.

Hyeop painfully stood up and ran again.

He ran and ran until he is out of the alley then another explosion. One guy stripped over in front of him with the woman brought him down to the wet pavement. The woman was wearing a very soiled wedding dress that had once been ivory white and now it was now several of different shades of dirty brown and gray even red. Her bridal veil was ragged and torn. Hyeop thought this guy was her groom and chased him down for not attending in their wedding.

He don't know how to deal with this but is this much more violent?

But to his horror he witnessed everything as it happened like it seemed too sharp over exposed photo. He saw the bride's teeth working on the man's throat and it happened like in the movies. His blood squirting into the air, hands beating futile at the bride as her teeth deepened and deepened into the man's neck causing him to scream painfully.

Hyeop is panicking right now and he stood there frozen. He put the gun out to help the poor man when someone grabbed his arm and dragged him out of the crime.

"Don't try helping people when you know it was too late for saving them," said the man who kept dragging him. He knew who it was, it was the man next door.

"What is happening?! Was this really a horrible riot?!" he asked while panting.

"People aren't really rioting," said the man and pushed him inside of the flower shop.

"Then what?!" he asked again as they both closed the door and barricaded it.

"They're trying to get away from the people turning into monsters. We can't say zombies because they don't have many eyes and they don't skin themselves alive. They can talk and they can think... but not so like us when we talk. They keep muttering nonsense!"

"So you don't know either?" The glass suddenly broke as another people came in. They don't move like a zombie but like a human being do.

"Move assh*le! I got pool!"

"I love sockets the pants..."

"Math worst face was that worthy?"

"Run to sleep yourself..."

The man was right, they were muttering nonsense and very far from correct grammars.

"Run!"

They keep running until they reached the messed up streets with cars on fires and people aimlessly running to save their own lives. The city in ruins.

This is his reality and he don't have any idea of why is this happening.
