Talented Martial Hero -
Chapter 1089 The Identity Of The Old Man
Although Darren was in the Virtual Battle Space, his ability to quickly improve his skills to their peaklevel made it a piece of cake for him to deal with the Shura.
"Guardian, please set the Shura as a destroyer,” Darren said
"Even with the sped up time flow, I would still need a month to execute that request,” the guardianreplied.
"Okay. He won't be able to make much trouble in a month.
Wait a second!" Darren suddenly realized that he had established a Shura Contract with the Shura. This meant he could not attack him.
Even if he was currently in the Virtual Battle Space, he would still be suppressed by law.
"Shoot. What do I do now?" Darren scratched his head in frustration. He was at a loss.
By this moment, the Shura had already flown far away.
"Lad, please help me." A faint voice called for help. Darren used his spiritual sense and detected theold man.
"Essence! I want the essence!"
The remaining three phantoms were thrown into a dire frenzy when they spotted the old man."What?" Hearing the shouts of the three phantoms, Darren frowned and asked, "What essence areyou talking about?”
Before they could answer, Darren's eyes grew as everything began to make sense.
"So, he's the World Essence!” Darren suddenly understood.
He imagined the World Essence was something similar to a crystal. He was looking for somethinghuge, at least. It never crossed his mind that the World Essence was actually a living creature!Witnessing the three destroyers driven to a nearly insane state was enough proof for Darren!"What luck!" Darren couldn't care less about the Shura anymore. He rushed to the elder and helpedhim up.
"Thank the heavens you're here!” The old man patted his chest in relief.
"There's nothing to fear. I'll get you out of here.”
Now that Darren had found the World Essence, his top priority was transferring the old man to asafe place. This was the most important thing on his mind at the moment!
"Guardian, I need to leave immediately!" Darren shouted.
"Absolutely not! You must kill all the destroyers in order to leave! An early departure is against therules!"
When anyone reached the Virtual Battle Space, he or she couldn't leave unless they'd killed all ofthe destroyers. That was the rule.
"So if the Shura doesn't kill the destroyers, he won't be able to get out too?" asked Darren."Theoretically speaking, that is correct. However, if he is powerful enough to shatter the VirtualBattle Space, he may still get out. The Shura would need a power equivalent to Todd's at the veryleast,” explained the guardian.
Todd wielded an extreme level of power. He was able to crush the Dark Immortal Master andsurpass the Super Emperor Realm.
"Do you think it would be possible for the Shura to reach that level of power?" Darren asked again,a bit nervously.
"It could be an achievable feat for him. The destroyer of the Remote Age, the Shura ancestor, wasstronger than Todd. If the Shura is able to inherit at least ninety percent of his ancestor's strength, itis only a matter of time before he can shatter the Virtual Battle Space,” the guardian said.
"Got it." Darren nodded. He accepted the situation and maintained his cool. At least the Shurawould take some time before he'd be able to break the space.
Darren needed to quickly kill the three remaining destroyers. He knew this would be difficult as hewas unable to use his most powerful means.
"Guardian, please let me use my other powers. This is the only way I can quickly pass the test,"Darren blurted out.
"Impossible. We must adhere strictly to all the rules. I cannot change them," said the guardian, immediately shooting down Darren's plea.
"No, I'm sure you can. After so many years of evolution, you aren't a mere stoic rule anymore. You'remore like a real creature now—uwith your own thoughts and actions. You are, aren't you?"
Darren's hunch was correct. If the guardian was really just a rule, he would have spared Darren thedetails on the Shura and their current situation.
"If I violate the rules, I will cease to exist and will be immediately replaced by a new rule.”
It seemed Darren's request could indeed be fulfilled. But if the guardian skewed the rules for him,the original rules would obliterate him and swiftly replace him with a new guardian.
"Are you afraid of death?" Darren asked.
"I haven't evolved to that stage yet, but in any case, I don't know why I should help you.”
"For the sake of the world and trillions of creatures! Come on, please?"
The situation turned dire. The sooner he transferred the old man, the better. Otherwise, once theShura regained his strength, he was definitely coming to snatch the old man.
The guardian stared at Darren unresponsively.
A luminous screen of light then appeared in the air. On it was a scene familiar to the guardian.Through the screen, Darren could see the destroyers from the past arrive as the earth began tocollapse. Countless creatures knelt down and prostrated themselves; weeping and praying for theirsurvival
It was a crisis on the world.
"I have seen this scene so many times by now. I can't understand why they are crying and begginglike that," said the guardian solemnly.
"They possess emotions. They have bonds with their families and friends. They don't want to die andlive without them. Even if it's simple, therein lies their happiness,” Darren said sincerely as he smiled. He thought about his reasons for living, and the bonds he too had formed to this point.
"I see. This is what it means to be human. Honestly, I envy that very much.” The guardian's voicebegan to sound sorrowful.
"Are you willing to help me? You will save the lives of countless creatures,” said Darren, firmly.
"Well then, I will allow you to use all your forces. But you must hurry. In two hours, I will be replacedby a new guardian for violating the rules. If during this period of time, you fail to kill all thedestroyers, your strength will return to the starting point; your soul will become vulnerable to thedestroyers."
If the guardian changed the rules, so as to let Darren succeed, he would definitely disappear. Oncethis happened, right when the new guardian was formed, Darren's strength obtained from sped-uptime flow would also disappear.
The limit of this process was two hours, so the guardian required Darren to kill the remaining threedestroyers as quickly as possible.
"Leave it to me. I'll do my best," said Darren confidently; his head held up high.
"Prepare yourself, then. I will help you to speed up the time. Remember, you've only got two hours.”"That's enough time! If the time flow is sped up to a million times, then I guess that's about twomillion hours.” Darren was merely cultivating his skills he already possessed, not creating new skills. It wouldn't cost him too much time.
With a crackle of electricity, a burst of colorful lights flashed by Darren. It was the sense of time. Thetime flow was beginning to speed up.
Darren immediately sank into the cultivation. He began with his blade and sword. As time wore on,his level and strength continuously increased.
Two hours flew by. As Darren's eyes fluttered open, he gasped from what he saw up in the sky. Anasty spider web of deep cracks had appeared!
