Talented Martial Hero -
Chapter 1301 An Invitation For Tea
Bang!
Jeremy continued harassing Maxwell, allowing Murphy to replace an opening to launch another of hisown attacks.
With the level-nine divine sword in his hand, he sliced at Maxwell's back hundreds of times, almostcutting right down to his bones.
"I see!" Murphy exclaimed as he witnessed the power of the divine sword.
His success in using it against Maxwell made clear to him why Darren had given it to him. It seemedthat he had added a large amount of itchy toxin to the sword.
"Argh!"
Maxwell raised his head and roared up at the sky for his wounds, his eyes glowing a terrible scarletnow.
He was furious and wanted to rush over and tear Murphy to pieces.
But his back began itching horribly, the itch stretching from his bones, and it stopped him frommaking any sort of move he would have hoped to make.
He began his pursuit of Murphy nonetheless, but it didn't last long. Soon the itching becameunbearable and he had to stretch his arms over and around, reaching for his back before he clawedat it wildly. In an instant, his back had been shredded.
"Has he lost his mind? Why would he do that to himself?" The two killers stood to the side watchingthe battle, confused by Maxwell's behavior.
"Go to hell!" Maxwell howled.
The shadow of the giant ape then came from behind him and rushed at Murphy in attack.
"Ouch, it hurts, ouch.”
The impact flung Jeremy away, putting a swift end to his harassment.
"Holy crap!" Murphy thought to himself, totally shocked by the sheer force.
The shadow of the giant ape appeared to have removed itself from Maxwell's body and was muchmore violent than Maxwell himself.
With nowhere to hide, all Murphy could do was hope that his armor was enough to save his life."Humph, Maxwell has wrecked his bloodline. He'll be pretty much useless,” the young killerremarked.
"It seems to me, I'm afraid, the man from the Starry Sword Sect will die. There's no way he survivesthis,” added the old man.
"You know, Akbar did help us with those directions before, and it is one of the reasons for oursuccesses so far. Do you think we should pay him back?"
"Listen, boy, we can't be helping our employer's enemies. That's a big no-no in our business.""What are you afraid of? Akbar and our sect leader share quite a close relationship. We would notbe doing anything wrong if we help someone under his protection.”
"You're right. Let's do it; let's save his life. We'll help him, but we'll do it secretly,” the old mannodded.
Two streaks of invisible god's power then flew towards Murphy.
"Howl!"
A primeval aura began spreading and the shadow of the giant ape raised its massive fist up highand slammed it down at Murphy.
Bang!
The entire area was overtaken by brilliant, blinding light.
"Hahaha! Murphy, you are finally dead!"
Maxwell looked as though he was crying, tears of joy no doubt. He had paid a hefty price but felt itwas all worth it to kill Murphy.
His spirit was strong and he believed that even though he was in great pain from the itching in hisbones, he still had enough strength to do what needed to be done and kill the one he hated themost.
"How dare you steal my divine patterns? I'll send you to hell too!"
Maxwell drew all his courage and strength to the surface and burst towards Darren.
"Jeremy, come here and protect Darren!” Lindsay shouted when she saw what was going on.
But it was no use. Jeremy was stunned and in a daze, unsure even of where he was, just rollingaround on the ground pitifully.
Darren also recognized that this was not going well. Maxwell was much stronger than he was andhe had no chance of escape.
"You wish to kill Darren? Who do you think you are?”
An icy voice resonated throughout. A figure in a black armor stood in front of Darren, shielding him.Whoosh!
The sword intent extended, chopping Maxwell into a bloody skeleton of a being.
Murphy then rushed over and kicked him away.
"No! You're alive! How can you still be alive?!" Maxwell screeched, his voice raw and full of hatredand resentment.
He was a powerful warrior at the upper-level of the Celestial God Realm, but he had been defeated, and it was a disastrous defeat at that. It was a cruel fact he could not accept.
"It was you! You two saved him!" he screamed at the two killers standing to the side of it all."Maxwell, don't say such ridiculous things, or I'll have to break your bones, whether you die or not,"the young killer said mercilessly.
"Ha-ha! I admit I have lost. I regret none of it. But remember this, my clan will never let you getaway with this, and that includes you two scums from the Bloody Abyss Sect!"
"Time for YOU to go to hell!"
Murphy flew into the air, ready to strike the final blow on Maxwell.
"Mr. Murphy You, do not be so quick to be so cruel,” said an ethereal voice seemingly fromnowhere.
The mysterious words were followed by the appearance of a figure shrouded in a purple mist, walking in from afar.
With a wave of his hand, Murphy's sword intent vanished without a trace.
"Who are you?" Murphy yelled out in surprise.
"Ha-ha, nobody here knows who I am. I'm the owner of the Ninth Precipitous Mountain. Perhaps itis because I have not shown myself for many years. It seems that in the future I should come outmore often.
Please listen to me, let go of Maxwell. Will you do as I ask, Murphy?" asked a calming and soothingvoice from within the purple mist.
Everyone's heart skipped a beat at the revelation of who this newcomer was.
This was a truly unexpected development.
"Nice to meet you, sir,"
Murphy said, cupping his hands and saluting to show his respect. But he was not the only one; thetwo first-class killers from the Blood Abyss sect did so as well.
"Since you have given this order, I dare not disobey.” Murphy complied with the owner of the NinthPrecipitous Mountain without even a sliver of hesitation.
"Okay, I'll be taking Maxwell with me. I do owe the ancestor of his clan a favor anyway. This will bemy repayment to him. You may leave now," said the figure in the purple mist.
"Yes, sir. As you say,” Murphy replied and immediately retreated, not daring to hesitate.
"We will take our leave now as well, sir. Please forgive us if we have offended you at all,” requestedthe killers respectfully before they made their retreat.
Murphy landed by Darren's side.
"Young man, you are quite impressive. Come have a cup of tea with me when you have the time,"the owner of the Ninth Precipitous Mountain said when everyone else thought he was leaving.
All those around looked at one another in confusion, not knowing who he was talking to when hehad said "young man."
"Okay, I'll come to see you when I'm free,” Finley said confidently, believing that the owner of theNinth Precipitous Mountain had recognized him as some sort of talent.
"All right. You can come with Darren. What difference does one more cup of tea make?"
It was only then that it became clear that he was inviting Darren for a cup of tea.
Everyone's eyes turned on Finley. He wanted desperately to hide himself under a rock or just vanishrather than suffer the embarrassment he felt from replaceing out he was not invited.
"Finley, you're so brazen! Shame on you!" scoffed Lindsay.
"What... Didn't you hear him invite me as well?" Finley's whole face, right down to his neck, turned abright glowing red as he spoke.
"Bah! That gentleman only did that as a courtesy, out of fear you might commit suicide from shameif he didn't,” Lindsay said more disdainfully.
"Thank you for your invitation, sir. I will surely visit you some day. May I know where I can replace you?"asked Darren politely.
"Between the ancient times and the present; between the clear and the chaotic.”
The words rang out from a voice off in the distance. When everyone looked to the sky for it, theyfound that the owner of the Ninth Precipitous Mountain had already disappeared with Maxwell."What? Nonsense. Darren, I don't think his invitation to us was sincere," Finley said angrily.
"Shame on you!" Darren cast a glare at him before turning around and marching off.
"You...how can you scold me?!" Finley erupted into a rage, wanting to yell and shout at Darren. Hisself-esteem had taken a great hit.
"Wait and see! I will communicate with my real body and ask him to teach me supreme divineskills!" Finley continued, murmuring threateningly at Darren's back.
