Right after the meeting ended, Vidonia, who had been waiting outside for ages, charged in.

Samson nearly jumped out of his skin. “What’s up? Why the panic face?”

“Mr. Ramirez didn’t show up at the office?”

“Yeah, so? Why are you tracking his every move?”

Vidonia started stamping her feet in frustration, “Letitia didn’t come to the office either! These two goingMIA at the same time spells trouble!

“What?”

“What am I gonna do, what am I gonna do, Vidonia was on the verge of tears, “this is bad, I’m worriedabout Letitia. Samson, can you please snoop around and replace out what’s up?”

Normally, these two are like cats and dogs, always at each other’s throats.

But when push comes to shove, they can team up and fight the good fight.

Especially… a woman’s tears always work on a man.

Vidonia’s usually all rough and tumble, doesn’t sweat the small stuff, but now she’s about to burst intotears, eyes all red and puffy, it just melted Samson’s heart.

While Samson was comforting her, he dialed up Ivory Towers.

When the butler laid out the whole story, Samson was gobsmacked, “Hospital? Abortion?”

Vidonia nearly lost her footing from the shock. Samson’s quick reflexes caught her, “Careful.”

“My godson. oh, heavens, Vidonia turned tail and bolted for the door, “I’m gonna kill Elgin!!”

“Vidonial Vidonia!” Samson hurried after her.

Outside the hospital room.

Vidonia was like a bat out of hell trying to get in, but a bodyguard blocked her way.

“Sorry, without Mr. Ramirez’s say-so, no one is allowed in there.”

“Move it! Elgin!” Vidonia shouted at the top of her lungs, “You son of a gun, come out here!”

Samson rushed to cover her mouth, “Calm down… that’s Elgin.”

Vidonia dodged him, mumbling, “Mmm… Of course I know… mmm that’s Elgin!”

“Shh, shh, shh, don’t rush things.”

“People’s lives are at stake! How can I not rush?”

“Making a scene won’t solve anything Samson tried to calm her down, “Let me think of something, justchill…”

Vidonia pushed him aside, “By the time you come up with something, it’ll be too late. I need to seeLetitia now!”

The commotion finally drew Elgin out. He shut the hospital room door and strode over with a frostyexpression, “What’s all the noise about?”

“Oh, look who’s come out of his shell!” Vidonia said, “Where’s Letitia? How’s the baby?”

Elgin’s face was a calm mask, “That’s none of your business.”

“How is it not my business!”

“Watch your status, Vidonia!”

Vidonia was livid, “I know my place! I’m Letitia’s friend, her kid’s godmother, and an employee of theRamirez Group! If you’re ticked off, fire me now, what’s the big deal!*

“You think I won’t fire you?”

Then do it! I’m not scared of you!”

Samson, seeing the situation spiral, quickly stepped between them, “Come on, both of you, let’s keepthe peace for my sake, alright?” “What standing do you have?”

They both said in unison.

Samson was speechless. Playing peacemaker sure is tough!

Samson changed the subject. “Gin, you didn’t come to the office today because Letitia, she…”

“She just had an abortion, she’s weak, I’m staying with her.”

Vidonia roared, “You forced her, didn’t you! Letitia loves that baby, how could she agree to an abortion!”

“Take her away, Elgin ordered with a dark look. “Samson, if this happens again, you won’t be able toprotect her either!*

With that, he turned and walked away, his figure receding into the distance.

Vidonia kept mumbling something, muffled and indistinct, but definitely not sweet nothings.

She lashed out at Elgin’s retreating back with fists and kicks, and Samson had to use all his strength topull her away

“Samson! Whose side are you on?” At the hospital entrance, Vidonia shrugged him off, “Look whatElgin did, that’s not human! Worse than a beast!”

“It’s done, yelling at him won’t change anything.”

“How can it not? He’s done the unthinkable, he deserves a good scolding!”

Samson replied, “It’ll just drag you down too.”

“I can’t worry about that right now! Vidonia’s eyes welled up again, “Imagine how heartbroken Letitiawill be when she wakes up and replaces out about the baby and she’s all alone.”

As she spoke, the tears started falling for real.

No one knew better than Vidonia how tough Letitia’s life was

Even now, Vidonia couldn’t accept the fact that the baby was really gone.

“Samson, tell me, is this just a nightmare? Letitia’s just a bit under the weather, she didn’t have anabortion.” She blinked back tears, her eyes misty. “Elgin can’t be that cruel, night?”

Samson looked at her tearful face, unable to bring himself to tell her the truth.

Looks like Elgin did everything, night or wrong, all in one fell swoop.

Vidonia covered her face, wanting to cry but not in front of Samson.

“Let’s look on the bright side. Samson offered her a tissue, “Don’t be so pessimistic.”

Vidonia didn’t take it

Samson had to wipe her tears himself, “Stop crying. Even if it’s the worst-case scenario, what you needto do is calm down and think about how you can really help Letitia. Ranting at Elgin is just blowing offsteam, it’s pointless

“It feels good to blow off steam!”

‘But if you leave the Ramirez Group, won’t Letitia be even more isolated there?”

Vidonia had a moment of clarity, “Right.”

“And besides,” Samson went on, “if you end up at loggerheads with Elgin, Letitia will have to step inand cover for you. Isn’t that just asking her to bite off more than she can chew?”

Makes sense.

Vidonia was swayed, gradually calming down, and she stopped crying.

“So now.. what do we do?” she asked. “Samson, I don’t know who else to turn to but you.”

That line was music to Samson’s ears, stroking his male ego big time.

it gave him a warm fuzzy feeling of being needed.

“Wait, Samson said, ‘just hang tight for a bit.”

Vidonia nodded. “Okay”

“Any updates or problems, I’ll fill you in and figure something out,” Samson assured her, looking intoher eyes. “Do you trust me?”

Lets fit the road, back to the office.”
