Upon hearing his words, any hint of drowsiness instantly evaporated from Samson, “What? Letitia’sgone missing?”

“Yes,”

“How did she… vanish again?”

Elgin didn’t respond and hung up the phone, making a beeline for the three bodyguards he hadassigned to

shadow Letitia.

His commanding presence made them quiver in their boots.

“I hired you guys to protect her,” Elgin said with a venomous tone, “So where is she?! What the heckkind of protection is this?”

“Uh… Mr. Ramirez, we were just following orders to keep tabs on Mrs. Ramirez all the time. Today,after she left the hospital, she got into the car heading back to Ivory Towers…”

“And then what? You didn’t follow?”

“We got made by Hawley’s understrappers,” the bodyguard explained. “They told us they’d take care ofgetting Mrs. Ramirez back to Ivory Towers and not to worry. Given that we were all on the same team…Ouch!”

Elgin darkened his face, “…She’s missing.”

“What?!”

“But I’ll replace her.” There was a rock solid confidence in Elgin’s voice, “She can never slip through myfingers!”

Nei! studied him and then said, “Or is it that she chose to walk away from you, not that she’s missing?”

“Impossible!”

That was Elgin’s darkest fear deep down.

Since the moment he heard Letitia was gone, he’d been dodging the worst scenario in his mind…

Perhaps Letitia left on her own accord and she wanted to leave him.

But Elgin couldn’t face that. He’d rather believe she was taken away by his grandfather and forcedaway!

Neil continued, “I’ve always noticed something delicate about your relationship with Letitia. It’s almostlike lovers, but even more like strangers. If… she wants to leave, just let her go, that’s her choice.”

“I won’t let her go, she can’t leave me!”

Neil looked at him, “Mr. Ramirez, clinging to someone who only wants to flee from you is a sad thing todo.”

Elgin scoffed, “Are you lecturing me?”

“I want what’s best for Letitia. And I think she wants to leave you. Only by leaving you can she breakfree and have a better life.”

“You have no clue about the complications between her and me!” Elgin headed towards the car, sayingcoldly, “Neil, if you care for her, you’d use your clout to help replace her! Her being is not a good sign!”

Elgin’s people might have Hawley’s spies who were likely not to search for Letitia with full effort, maybeeven muddying the waters and making trouble.

So, if Neil could get involved, the odds of replaceing her would be much better.

“Fine.” Neil agreed, “I’ll make sure she’s safe and sound, but not for your sake.”

Elgin had already stepped into the back seat of his Rolls-Royce.

Neil turned to his assistant, “Pull every string and tap into every contact to replace Letitia’s whereabouts.Keep it on the down-low and report back as soon as possible.”

“Got it, Mr. Thompson.”

The Rolls-Royce sped down the highway with Elgin urging, “Faster.”

“Mr. Ramirez, this is fast enough…”

“Faster!”

The trip to the Ramirez Mansion, which should have taken half an hour, was done in a mere fifteenminutes.

Hawley was startled when he saw him, “Elgin, why are you running around like a headless chicken?You don’t care about your left hand anymore?”

He cut straight to the chase, “Where’s Letitia.”

“Where is she!” Elgin exploded his voice, “Spill it!”

At that moment, he was like a lion on the verge of madness – seething with anger, restless with anxiety,and teetering on the brink of instability.

His voice echoed in the living room, deafening.

Hawley was taken aback, “You… you’re talking to me like that over a woman?”

“Grandpa, I’ve made it clear time and again, Letitia is my red line! If you take my words for mere wind,then don’t blame me for casting aside kinship!”

Elgin never would have spoken to his grandfather like this in the past.

When I was grooming you to be my successor, I drilled into you that you must be invincible without anyAchilles’ heel to reach the top above the rest! Everything is replaceable, and there’s not a single soulyou can’t live without!

And what now? Elgin, where did all my words go? Did they just go in one ear and out the other?”

Elgin looked steadily at Hawley, “Grandpa, what if I told you… that it was me who caused the death ofour child?”

Hawley staggered, “What are you saying?”

“It was me who caused the death of the child Letitia and I were expecting,” Elgin said, “The fault is allmine and has nothing to do with Letitia. On the contrary, she did everything she could to protect ourbaby.”
