Teach a Teacher a Lesson -
Chapter 13
After finishing his morning shift, Sam roamed the ship in search of Rita. He hadn't seen her at all the previous day, and since they were going to be at sea today, he thought it was the perfect time to make his move. He eventually found her napping on a deckchair by the pool wearing nothing more than a pink bikini and a pair of sunglasses. He took her all in, in one long look. She has a beautiful body for a thirty-five-year-old woman, he thought. He still remembered all the details she had shared in class, including her age back then. She hadn't changed that much in his eyes.
Her breasts had suffered a bit of gravity over the years, he thought, but they were as full and round as ever, exactly the way he liked it. Simply the thought of burying his face in her cleavage had his mouth watering and his groin throbbing. He trailed his gaze again down to her long slim legs, shining because of the tanning oil she had applied.
Oh, how I wish I could lick that oil off every inch of her legs and make love to her my whole life. Where did that come from? He shook his head to rid himself of his errant thoughts. He was supposed to hate that woman. Wasn't that what he kept saying to himself last night? He glanced at his hand. It wasn't in so much pain anymore, but there was still a bruise after punching the wall the other night. She was causing him new kinds of pain. She was supposed to be the one suffering now, and that was what he had to do: not think of her longingly...and certainly not think of having her in his life.
Composing himself, he returned to his plan with renewed determination. Coming the end of this voyage, he would have his revenge and discard her like nothing more than a used tissue.
He approached her and sat on the empty deckchair beside her. She was still sleeping and didn't take any notice of him. Of course, he couldn't have any of that; he needed her fully aware in order to fall into his trap. He boldly traced a path from her hip all the way down to her toes feeling her sleek skin under his fingertips.
She woke up with a startle. "What are you doing?" she squeaked, shoving his hand away.
"I was just trying to wake you up," he replied, unperturbed.
"You were groping me in public!" she retorted, removing her sunglasses to eye him angrily. "Would you prefer I do it in private?" he asked, and a wicked smile formed on his lips. Rita gaped at him.
Sam laughed. "Believe me, love, if I was groping you, I wouldn't do that! Would you like me to tell you or better yet, can I show you where I would touch you, if I was ever to grope you?" His voice was a seductive deep baritone. "Are you crazy?" she replied, offended, and immediately sat up to put some distance between them. "What do you want from me, Sam?"
Sam knew she couldn't understand this sudden change in his behavior. One day, he was kissing her sweetly and reciting poetry, and the next, he was acting like a freak, to say the least.
"What's wrong with you anyway?" she shouted in his face.
Sam lifted his hands defensively in front of him. "Well, I only wanted to wake you up to tell you that you shouldn't be sleeping in the sun or else you'll get burnt, but now..." He paused and lay down on the deckchair crossing his arms behind his head. He shifted his gaze toward her once more.
"I think I'll lie here for a moment and watch the sun glide over your amazing body. And all the while, I'll be imagining it's my hands that trail every inch of it or even better my tongue cooling your hot skin down."

Rita was staring at him aghast, but instead of being any more offended or even afraid of him, she was captivated by his words and started feeling the moves he was describing. Her lust was clouding her judgement. It had been long since she last felt a man's hands on her body, and the mere thought of this particular man touching her sent hot shivers all the way down to her toes. She recalled how deftly he had used his tongue while kissing her. Imagining him working that same magic over her entire body made her throb to the core. She closed her eyes unwillingly and visualized the scene.
Sam got up quickly and whispered in her ear. "And then my beautiful Rita, I'll make sweet love to you all night until you beg me to stop." He kissed her cheek lightly.
She opened her eyes only to see his back turned to her and him moving quickly away without a backward glance.
She ran her fingers over her hair and tucked a few strands behind her ear. What was that man doing to her? Her senses were in uproar. She was horny now, and he had left her with that feeling. Why work her up if he wasn't going to stay? Why play with her?
She wasn't thinking straight right now. She should be mad at him. Yet, she kept wondering if he meant what he said and when he was planning to make it happen.
She exhaled noisily to vent her frustration and lay back again. Should I wait for him? If I want sex, I can ask for it, right? I am an independent woman now. I should do what I want. She hit her fist on the deckchair. Who am I kidding? I know I'll never replace the courage to do that.
She lifted herself up and fumbled in her bag. She retrieved a book about romance on a Greek island. It would do no good to fuss about Sam now. After all, he seemed so unpredictable, she couldn't know what he would do next or if he meant any of the things he said to her. She wished she had never met Chris. She wouldn't be able to trust her judgement ever again when it came to men, and it was all because of him. She was so unsure of herself now, or of how she should be acting even if she felt she was drawn to someone. Chris had been playing with her insecurities for years and even though she had finally figured it all out and left him behind, she was still working on rebuilding her self-confidence. She had hoped that this voyage would help her do that more, but so far it only seemed to confuse her.
She sighed. Maybe she should stop overthinking and simply go with the flow. And she should definitely stop thinking about Chris. He was in the past and he wasn't coming back ever again.
She read the page from the beginning again as she hadn't been focusing on what she was reading before.

Hours later, Rita stepped into the disco. Her maxi red dress showed off her slender figure beautifully. She had bought it specially for this evening. When she booked the cruise, the travel agent had informed her that it was customary to have a formal dress dance on the ship. The captain was in the DJ's booth and was holding a microphone. The passengers were standing on the dance floor waiting for his announcement.
She walked to the bar and waved to get John's attention before taking a seat. He moved toward her.
"Hey," he said and smiled. "Wow! You look stunning in that dress."
"You like it?" she asked.
"I don't think there will be a single man on this ship that won't like it."
Rita beamed. She liked that dress herself. It made her feel sexy and confident. It showed a bit more cleavage than the dresses she usually wore when she was with Chris, but that was exactly the reason she had bought it. He never let her buy the clothes she liked. While they were together, he insisted he should go shopping with her all the time, and he always disapproved of dresses like that.
"So what cocktail will you make for me?" she asked him.
"Oh, no cocktail tonight. We always serve champagne the night of the dance. Captain's rules," John said, and poured a glass for her.
"I think I like our captain a lot." She giggled and then picked up her drink.
"Is he the only officer you like?" she heard a voice say from behind, and she put her glass down again without tasting the drink.
She shifted her body on the stool and saw Sam standing a few steps away. He was dressed in a white uniform again, but this one seemed more formal than the one she had seen him wearing the other days. She stared at him for a moment without replying. He took her breath away.
He moved closer to her and took her hand. He brought it to his mouth and pressed his lips gently on her skin. "You are so beautiful tonight, Rita."
"I could say the same for you," she replied. "You look so... formal."
"I am glad you like it. May I join you for a while?" he asked and beckoned to the empty stool next to her.
"Yes, please do."
The moment he sat down, John served him a glass of champagne as well and Sam raised his glass to make a toast. Rita mirrored him.
"To you and me, and to our friendship."
Rita clinked her glass to his. "To us then."
The microphone clicked and the captain got their attention. "Jack Wang, your captain. My crew and I would like to formally welcome you all aboard the Midnight Dancer and wish you a pleasant cruise. I hope you have been having a great time so far. We always have a dance on the third day of this voyage since there's nothing better to do while we are at sea the whole day. It is a great opportunity for you all to meet other passengers and have fun." The passengers clapped in appreciation. The captain smiled. "Let the dance begin then!" He left the booth and the DJ took his place. The music began and some passengers danced while others returned to their seats.
Rita watched the captain mingle and talk to the passengers. "Is he going to spend the whole night here?" she asked Sam, anxious. "Who is driving the ship?"
Sam laughed. "You don't drive it these days. It's mostly automated, Rita. Don't worry! But no, he won't stay. Jack is the most responsible person I've met in my life. He makes the announcement, says a few hellos, and then returns to his station. He won't let us crash."
"Will you have to return to your post, as well?" Rita sounded disappointed.
"Lucky for you, my lady, I have the night off. Besides, I must keep my word and spend time with you, right?"

She grinned. "Right. You stood me up yesterday."
"Not my fault."
"Yes, I know. John told me you were on duty."
"John?" he asked, surprised, and eyed the barman for a second.
"He was on the tour with me. We had a great time," she replied.
"Really? What did you do?"
"Have you not been on one of these tours before?" she wondered.
"I don't usually follow our passengers when we are in port. And he shouldn't have either," Sam said in a serious tone.
"Is he going to get in trouble? He did tell me that it's not what he normally does, but he wanted to join the tour and visit the sites."
"If he had got into trouble with any of the passengers, he could have lost his job, you know, even if they were not on the ship," Sam explained.
"Does he know that?"
"Of course, he does. He chose to ignore the rules. I should have a word with him about it." Sam drank some of his champagne. "I know exactly what it feels like to ignore the rules, and I had to learn to abide by them the hard way. I certainly wouldn't like to see John in the same predicament."
Rita put her hand on top of Sam's knee. "Please don't say anything to the captain then. Sometimes, young people make mistakes, and we should not be so hard with them. Do you know how many times I had to let off my students for their mischiefs?" She laughed. "You won't believe what they can come up with!"
"I bet you can tell me a lot of funny stories," he said.
"Do you need a refill, guys?" John said.
"We are good for now," Sam replied for both of them.
He turned his gaze back to Rita once John left and his mind travelled back in time. You were hard with me. You didn't let me off for my mistake. You insisted I was punished. And I was. For years!
Rage surged through his body. His nostrils flared. He clenched his fingers around his glass for a second.
He felt Rita's hand patting his knee. "Are you okay, Sam?" He opened his eyes at the sound of her voice. He wasn't aware he had closed them. When rage overwhelmed him, his whole body seemed to operate of its own volition.
He breathed deeply to calm himself. "I'm okay." He smiled at her. "I just remembered something from my childhood."
"It must have been something bad. You went pale for a moment there." She sounded concerned.
"It was, but never mind that. Why don't you tell me some of your funny stories instead?"
He picked up his glass and gulped the rest of his drink. He motioned John for a refill. "Oh, they are just silly kid stories. I'd rather learn more about you," she replied. John filled both their glasses and went to serve other passengers.

"Everything!" she exclaimed. "Where you are from, if you have family, friends, girlfriends, pets, if you like books, what your favorite things are... everything."
Sam smiled at her but didn't reply to her questions. "I think it is time for us to dance," he said and stood up. He led her to the dance floor.
Sam put his left hand on her waist and held her hand with his other. She placed her right hand on his shoulder and they swayed to the melody.
Halfway through the song, Sam let his right hand drop to her waist as well, and Rita laced her hands behind his neck.
"That feels better," he said, when he pulled her closer. Their bodies touched with every move they made.
"Yes, it does." Rita put her head on his shoulder, and they swayed, hugging each other tightly.
Sam trailed his fingers up and down her spine, and she shivered. This was the response he had been hoping to get when they had first danced together. He had wanted to feel her need his touch. Tonight, she did.
He lowered his head and whispered, "You are so beautiful, Rita. I can't stop thinking about you ever since I saw you."
"I think of you a lot too, Sam," she replied.
"I want to touch you so badly. If we weren't around people, I would..." he stopped mid-sentence.
Rita lifted her head and looked at him. "What would you do?"
"I would get you out of this tantalizing dress and worship you like a goddess."
A quick breath escaped her lips. "Tell me more," she whispered.
"I will kiss every single spot of your body and touch you in ways you've never been touched before. And when you think you can't take it anymore, I will give you more and more until you are so overwhelmed that you will beg me to stop..." He paused and gave her a quick kiss on the cheek. "And then I will make love to you like no one ever has."
She moaned in his arms. "Sam... I want you too..."
"Soon," he said.
The song ended then, and Sam let his hands drop from her body and took a step back.
"I have to go."
She looked at him, confused. "But you said it's your night off."
"I know. I'm sorry. I have to go," he said, and walked away quickly.
Rita stood in the middle of the dance floor. She was ready to burst into tears. She was getting tired of watching him disappear on her all the time. She couldn't understand Sam's reaction. She had just told him that she wanted him too, as much as he apparently did, and he responded by leaving her there alone without any explanation. She felt totally rejected. Why did he have to do that when everything was going well for them?
She went back to the bar, grabbed her little bag, and ran to her cabin before anyone noticed the tears forming in her eyes.
