Chapter 49-1

DEXTER:

I panicked as soon as I was told that Amelia had left the mansion, and I instantly dashed out of the room

I had no idea where to replace her, but I didn’t stop moving. It was just fifteen minutes so there was no way she could have gone far within that short period,

I reached for my phone and dialed her number, but unfortunately, she kept ending my call and I was starting to get worried about her.

I called over and over again until I could no longer reach her,

"Come on, Amelia, what the hell," I yelled at no one in particular, deeply regretting that she had to see what had happened between Scarlett and me.

It was really getting late and Amelia was all on her own. She wasn’t a fighter and she couldn’t defend herself from attacks either and I was scared something might happen,

I tried to replace her scent but it was almost impossible

I halted when my eyes caught hold on an almost faded footprint and as much as I hated it, I leaned down so I could perceive it. It was certainly Amelia which meant that she had taken this direction. I hastened my pace, running further and further without caring where exactly I was.

I just wanted to explain things to her and make her understand that she had gotten everything wrong. There was absolutely nothing going on between Scarlett and me,

I halted when I felt something.

"What’s wrong?"

It was almost as if my wolf wanted me to feel something. I shut my eyes,

"Please help me, Dexter."

That had to be Amelia’s voice, "Our mate is in danger." My wolf informed, and the color of my eyes changed to red, I dashed toward the direction of the forest where I was certain that the energy of her voice had come from,

My mind didn’t want to be filled with the thought that she was already probably hurt or maybe someone or even something was trying to harm her. When I heard a scream from a far distance in the forest, I widened my eyes and I could feel my heart racing fast,

I had recognized Amelia’s voice and I was very certain it was her,

I found my way to trees, jumping them so I could get to her faster. I had not fully changed into my wolf form so I could be bigger,

As I got closer, I could perceive her scent, only that she wasn’t alone. I heard four heartbeats, meaning there were three others with her, and judging by their scent, they weren’t rogues or wild beasts.

I heard another scream from Amelia and at a distance, I saw three damn men trying to touch her,

I could feel her fear and that fear desperately wanted me to rip out these men into shreds,

I got close and dragged one of them into the darkness, and the moment our eyes met, I ripped out his heart and threw it towards the other so they would let go of Amelia,

I did the same for the second and once I ripped out his heart, the third one grabbed Amelia,

I couldn’t hear her heartbeat pounding so hard against her ribcage as he held my mate like a commoner,

I growled, and stepped out of the darkness with my gaze burning red,

"Get your hands off my mate right now!" I commanded and watched as he went on his feet the moment he recognized me,

"A...Alpha." The bastard called and as she hurriedly let go of Amelia whose gaze was still on me, I rushed over and picked her up in my arms before she could fall to the ground,

I turned around and grabbed his neck,

"Spare me, I didn’t mean..."
