I was lost in thought!

"The Alpha king is on sick leave, Alpha Dexter, so I’m here to inform you that you will be handling everything concerning late beta Gregory’s death anniversary." I had heard Daniel, but I didn’t blink,

"Alpha." He called again before I was finally able to blink,

I heaved and sat upright on my seat,

"What is it?"

"Here’s where the Alpha king stopped.

You’ll be in charge of the rest."

I collected the file from his hand and began to go through it. Every year, Beta Gregory’s anniversary was a big celebration but the old man wanted to make it bigger this year by inviting some neighboring packs Alphas and their heirs with hope that Scarlett would replace her mate from one of them. I knew this was his plan, and I should hate it but maybe I was ready to let Scarlett go,

I knew she deserved better than me,

"Alright. How many days are left?"

"4 days Alpha. He would be announced as the greatest beta who fought effortlessly for the pack on that day and respect would be paid to him by the royal family.

I widened my eyes at Daniel and hated that he wouldn’t stop smiling at me. "That’s a lie, that’s a fucking big lie," I yelled, hitting the table, and watched him flinch in fear,

"Get out before I break something on your head," I Interjected and with speed, he rushed out. I wrecked my fingers into my hair, trying to get what he had just said out of my mind.
