The 5-time Rejected Luna Queen -
Chapter 44-2
Chapter 44-2
I raised my gaze at him,
"What?"
He lowered his gaze for a few seconds and uttered, "They are all dead, Alpha. Amelia is the last of her family left in the world. I confirmed their death, and unfortunately, I could only replace where her mother was buried. The rest of her family had no grave. I have no idea what happened, Alpha."
I didn’t utter a word after Daniel was done talking but instead,.I curled my fingers into fists, trying to control the flames of rage bubbling inside of me,
Her mother was her last hope. Her mother was the only damn person keeping her sane in the entire world.
I knew what it was like and I hated that Amelia would have to go through the pain of knowing that her mother was dead. Deep down, I felt like a damn loser and I wanted to beat the shit out of the glass table in front of me,
"What do we do, Alpha? How do you break the news to her?"
"I’m not going to," I responded as this was the only solution I could come up with at the moment. Amelia had so much hope that her mother was still alive and I really couldn’t bear to shatter that hope into multiple pieces. I was scared of what it would do to her afterward,
"What do you Alpha?" Daniel uttered, but I didn’t raise my gaze at him as I was thinking about what to do. My promise to replace her mother and bring her back no matter what replayed over and over again in my head and I hated myself so much for it,
"Alpha..." Daniel called my name again before I heaved and raised my gaze at him, "Until I replace a way to sort all of this out or break the news to Amelia, replace a random lady with amnesia, and make her pretend to be Amelia’s lost mother. You have a month to ensure she knows everything there is to know about Amelia and her past. Don’t leave even the tiniest bit of information out. After that, we dig into what happened to her family members and how they were wiped out."
I hated that I was doing this, but this was the only option I could think of at the moment.
As soon as I had ordered Daniel, I rose to my feet and stepped out of the study room. I took only a few steps, heading downstairs when I heard Scarlett’s voice,
"Dexter." She called but I didn’t turn around to face her. My mood just was ready for her long conversation, but after a few seconds, I turned around and stared at her "Hey."
"Are you mad at me?" She muttered as she stared at her and after I heaved deeply, I shook my head, "No, what’s wrong?"
"You’ve been avoiding me, Dexter. I just wanted to know if I did something really bad. If it’s about the duel with Amelia, believe me, it wasn’t my idea, it was all hers."
I didn’t utter a word but kept staring at Scarlett. Maybe a part of her hasn’t changed since she was a kid. That part of her that always blamed someone else just to get out of trouble,
"I’m not avoiding you, Scarlett, I’ve been busy with the preparations for tomorrow."
She nodded her head and suddenly kept a sad face on, and I instantly knew this was about her father, but I was in no mood to comfort her because Amelia was all I could think about, and the news I had just received.
"I have to go now, I’ll see you later," I uttered and was about to walk away when she grabbed my arm,
"What’s wrong?" I questioned, refraining from getting angry and trying to be as calm as possible,
"I have something I want to tell you, Dexter." She muttered and I arched my brows, "Tomorrow. It’s something I should have said to you a long time ago, but I’m ready to say it now." She uttered with a really serious face, making me wonder what the hell she had to tell me.
She let go of my hand afterward and with a small smile, turned around and began walking away.
