The Almighty Son-In-Law ( Cyrus Johnson ) -
Chapter 17
Chapter 17
Zoey had worn clothes that cost less than a hundred dollars for years.
How could she dare to try on an evening gown worth over 30 million dollars, renowned in the fashion
world?
Cyrus, however, didn’t explain the situation.
The foreign president was an expert. He could determine the price of the clothes on her with a single glance. Naturally, he understood her concerns.
“Ms. Clarke, as long as it’s not Intentionally damaged, you won’t need to compensate for anything. We will make the necessary repairs.”
Cecilia also exited the car and conversed with the foreigner in Eldrissian, checking the order.
It was indeed paid with a VIP code for confidentiality and to ensure anonymity.
She approached Zoey and said, “It should be fine. I’ll accompany you. After enduring so much injustice over the years, today, on your father’s 60th birthday, you should meet the old man with dignity so he won’t have to worry about you.”
Cyrus reiterated, “Cecilia is right. There won’t be any trouble.”
Mabel sneered, “Before you criticize others, look at yourself. Given your background, do you really think. you can measure up to this gown?”
A sharp glint flashed in Cyrus’s eyes.
He held a silver needle and coldly said, “If you dare to be insolent again, I’ll sew your mouth shut.”
“You dare? You’re trash without manners.”
“Enough, I’ll wear it.”
Zoey didn’t want to cause a scene at her father’s celebration.
At this moment, eight female designers emerged from the recreational vehicle, standing in two rows.
They bowed together to Zoey, saying, “Madam, we are here to assist with the fitting.”
The entire process was treated with the highest standards of VIP treatment, an experience no other
woman present had.
Zoey, holding Mira’s hand, ascended the stairs. Cecilia followed closely behind.
Rachel, tasked initially with welcoming guests, found everyone rushing to the entrance to watch the
commotion.
She had no choice but to guard the door, hands on her hips, shouting, “I want to see how you’ll get in later. Wearing such a gown, you might as well just beg on the main road. It suits your whole family.”
Cyrus laughed, “What about your little brother? Why hasn’t he invited us in yet?”
“What kind of person are you? Do you deserve my uncle’s invitation? Felix, the younger brother, retorted.
He would have ordered sécurity to kick Cyrus out if not for the numerous guests.
Was he trying to get the inheritance from Wallace?
All the money belonged to Felix, the only son. Zoey wouldn’t get a penny..
Mabel’s brother, Howard Lowe, the owner of Jorsproburgh Golden Hotel, hurriedly came out.
He asked Cyrus, “Who did you use to smooth things over?”
“This guy is disliked everywhere, borrowing money everywhere. What connections could he have?” Rachel laughed.
“I just received a call from the higher authorities, saying that if the Johnson family is not allowed into the celebration, we’ll have to close our doors for three years starting tonight.”
The hotel was his only business, with massive investments.
Closing for three years would result in deterioration.
Mabel walked up to Frederick’s side, smiling, “Frederick, is it possible the old man entrusted you to make
a call for all this?”
“I’m just as bewildered!” Frederick replied.
Mabel nodded. Even Frederick, who despised Cyrus, wouldn’t stoop to doing anything offensive with such
a worthless person.
The Rolls Royce fleet’s driver, holding a brand–new red carpet, was ready to roll it out.
“What are you doing?” Mabel asked.
“With such an exquisite gown, we must roll out the red carpet to prevent it from getting dirty,” the driver explained.
“Don’t bother rolling it out. What’s with the pretentious display? Mabel was angry. This made it seem like Zoey was the main character.
‘Mabel, let it go for tonight. Who knows, some big shot might be interested in Zoey,” advised Howard.
“How Infuriating.”
The red carpet extended to the hotel entrance, with hundreds of guests staring intently at the car door, eagerly awaiting the entrance of Jorsproburgh’s number–one beauty, Zoey.
She had become the sole focus of the evening
Her stepmother, Mabel, was becoming more impatient by the minute.
