The Alpha King's Princess
The Alpha King’s Princess – Chapter 59

I locked the door behind me, put in my headphones, drew the curtains around my bed and got to work. The click of my fingers on the keys filled the room as I tuned into the pages and pages of reports from New Moon, Red Moon, and surrounding areas. I put them to one side of my screen and started looking for the vampire in any photo across social media, security cameras, and anything else I could get into.

But there was nothing. I worried my l*p and looked over at the book about vampires. I pulled it to me as the rest of the case records started to load and my program continued to search. 1

I opened the book, flipping the pages, straining to read it. I flipped it around and pushed my power until I could just barely feel something behind my eyes and rumbling in my chest like my wolf waking up and growling down at the page.

I growled as my head began to hurt from staring at the page for so long.

There had to be some way to read this damn thing!

Before I could throw it aside. I felt something warm trickle out of my nose and drew back. A drop of b***d dripped onto the page as I reached for a tissue and cursed. I hadn’t had a nosebleed like this since I was first starting heal before I started taking Candido’s b***d. Maybe I was straining myself too far. I hadn’t eaten since last night, but maybe I needed rest more than I needed food.

I turned back and gasped as the b***d vanished into the page. The text lit up gold and began to shift around until a whole passage was legible.

Children of the New Moon rise with the coming of darkness. In the embrace of night, without the light of she who burns us, drink the pleasures of life. For all are your domain.

We are the first.

We are the most powerful.

We are kings of this land.

Forsaken we may have been, but forsaken we shall not be for long. When the last ray of sunshine turns as red as b***d, when the Red Moon becomes full, our victory is near.

I swallowed and scrambled for my laptop, trying to copy the test as it started to shift and become illegible again. I managed to get it all down just as it vanished. I blotted my nose and smeared the b***d across the page, hoping there was enough b***d there to reveal more words. The passage before and after it until I could ready the full page.

It was written in a very flowery way, but it was written like a journal, I think. This had to have been written by a vampire or a werewolf with a deep connection to vampires.

In the beginning, we were all children of the sun. And we shall be again. When the sun shed her light to become the moon, she divided her power among us: children of the day and children of the night. From there, she divided her power further: children of the new moon, children of the day moon, children of the blue moon, children of the full moon, and children of the b***d moon.

I had never heard of the day moon. I skipped the passage I’d already read as I tried to type all the new revealed text.

Those children of the day, those who bear powers like ours and take the form of a wolf waged war on us-their brothers, their sisters, their elders. They drove us back into the darkness. Stole land.

We drained them, but with the day’s light on their side, we were forced to retreat into the cold and dark.

But we will rise.

With the coming of the sun, with the coming of twilight, reborn children of the new moon, children of the night, we shall see sunlight and they will know their end. For in our golden eyes, is the power to shift the very fabric of reality. In our silver, words to beguile.

In the deepest black are we the fiercest, dawning the cloak of a predator. In our blue, do we charm the creature of the black night.

I closed the book, shaken by the words. Vampires were definitely connected to werewolves. I couldn’t say if all of it was true about who started the war and who was the victim, but I could say that we were counterparts to vampires somehow, and they had powers.

Their golden eyes were much like the golden fur of wolves. I didn’t know if the colors correlated specifically to those powers or if it was just a poetic way of saying that had all the powers we did and more.

I felt sick. Was it possible that the man couldn’t changer his face but affected the minds of those around him to make it seem like he was a different face?

I felt sick.

My computer chimed and there was a message from Armageddon. I winced and opened it.

How goes your investigation? He asked. And are you okay? How are you feeling?

My lips twitch. Going and I could be better.

This may be a personal question, but it is very important.

I frowned. What is it?

Have you notice a mark on your body? A moon mark.

My heart lurched. Over your heart.

I frowned. I thought moon marks were on people’s wristS.

I had never heard of a moon mark being somewhere else.

A message appeared with a passage of the Moon

Goddess book from the look of the style of writing and the pattern on the page.

Each wolf shall be blessed with a mark to show you your fated mate. Blessed by the moon goddess to bear the last of her light as the sun, golden wolves and their mates will bear such a mark on their heart so that the two blessed with the sun’s light may know each other and feel each other to the depths of their hearts.

My heart lurched and I frowned at it.

Armageddon… you’re a golden wolf? I asked

Yes. I know we’re very rare, hence I need to know.

I didn’t know what to say to that. The passage meant that I was a golden wolf too, that I was supposed to be anyway. I smiled at that.

Does this mean that golden wolves always end up with golden wolves?

Yes. Are you going to answer me?

I couldn’t answer him. I wasn’t twenty yet so even if I answered, I wouldn’t have a definite answer. But my mind went to Candido. I had seen him shirtless enough to know that there was no mark over his head.

He hadn’t met his mate yet.

My jaw trembled and I almost clicked out, but my eye caught on the little arrow telling me that there was another page to the attachment he sent me.

One moon before the wolf’s twentieth birthday, shall these marks begin to appear and be honored and cherished.

My heart lurched. Can you get me the rest of this book?

I don’t think that’s a good idea.

I bared my teeth. Why not? It’s important. It could be a breakthrough in my investigation.

He said nothing for a while before he replied. I’m sorry, Pandora, but there’s too much information in the book for it to be a good idea. What is it that you’re trying to get out of it.

I glared at the screen. I don’t need a dumbed-down version.

So much for that. Then, I would have to get that book from Candido sooner rather than later.

I need to go. I’ll contact you when I can.

I logged off and hurried through putting the laptop away. As soon as I was sure it was hidden, I hurried out of my room as fast as my feet could take me. I knew I probably wouldn’t get any more information about the vampire, but at the least, I could get to the bottom of this connection to Armageddon and Candido. If I could compare some of the text in the Moon goddess book to the vampire book, maybe I’d get somewhere.

I hurried down the hallway towards Candido’s office.

My head was spinning with all the information and guesses.

I had no idea how much b***d I was going to have to spill to read the rest of the book, but I was willing to do it and transcribe it all if it would help Moon Shadow.

As I rounded to the corner to the hallway where his office was, I braced myself for a fight. He’d wanted to talk about it and I just didn’t have time. I had to commit to that when I entered and make sure he understood that’s where I stood on the matter.

I pushed the door open. His head lifted. He looked just as tired and he still hadn’t changed. To be fair, neither had I.

“Candido, give me the book back.”
