The Alpha’s Mute Mate -
Episode 78
HUDSON
I woke up with the sight of my mate lying on top of me; she was lying on my chest. I was so happy. I didn’t want to move.
We made love more once again after Willow and Brooke became one. It was weird hearing both of their voices together, but they are magnificent.
Brooke moves slightly off me as she replaces her pillow. She must have sensed I was awake, but I know she is still asleep.
I move out of the bed and head to the bathroom; I do what I need to do and walk back in to come face to face with my mate sitting up in bed staring back at me. “I thought you left me,” she says quietly.
I smirk and use my speed to get to her; I climb over her, trapping her within the blanket as I hoover over her while placing both my arms on the side of her head, holding her in place. “I will never leave you, Brooke,” I say before I slam my mouth on hers as I k**s her hard.
I moved back and stared down at her. “We best make a move; Alpha Josh and Todd will be here,” I said to her.
I move off her, and she slowly moves up the bed; I walk into the closet and throw on some clothes. As I come back into the bedroom, I can hear Brooke in the shower; damn it, I could have had one with her. I was about to get out of the clothes till a mind link came through. “Hudson, Todd, and everyone are here,” says my father. “We will meet you and Brooke in the conference room.”
“Sure, Dad,” I say as I open the door to the bathroom. Brooke switches the shower off and wraps a towel over her body.
I can’t help but growl. “I missed you going in there; I would have joined you,” I said.
Brooke smiles. “I would have called you in, but I think we have visitors,” she says.
I look back at her, confused. “How did you……” I ask her, but she smiles. “The look you had when you walked in here was blank, so both Willow and I thought someone was mind linking you, telling you that people were here.”
I smile at her.
“We have one amazing mate,” says Asher as he comes closer to see Brooke.
“I agree,” I say to him.
I move out of the way as Brooke walks past. She walks into the closet and puts on a pale green dress.
She looks stunning; I can’t take my eyes off her.
When Brooke was dressed, she looked at me with a smirk. “You like what we see,” she says, which in two strides I was in front of her, slamming my lips on hers, wrapping my arms around her waist, pulling her closer to me.
Brooke moves back slightly, panting for a breath. “UMM…We need to go,” she says quietly, but I can smell her arousal.
I don’t let her go, but I move my head to the crook of her neck and breathe in her scent, but I move my mouth to her ear. “Is my Luna wet for me?” I say.
She gulps but doesn’t say anything.
I can’t help but smirk. “Well, once we have met with everyone, I will have you once again,” I say and place a k**s on her neck. “I will take you somewhere and make you scream my name so loud everyone outside will know what we are doing,” I say, placing another k**s on her neck, working my way down to her mark. “I will make you come at least three times,” I say as I suck her mark. Brooke m***s and moves closer to me. “Hudson, please,” she says.
I smirk once more. “I will have you, my luna, and I want to fill you with pups,” I say.
I move back and look at her; her eyes are wide as she stares at me. “You want to…….” she starts to say, but I think she is having trouble forming the sentence.
I smile. “I want as many pups as you can give me Brooke, I want everything with you, I mean, we are already marked and mated, but I want a family with you,” I say. “When we both are ready, I don’t want to rush you.”
She looks back at me and smiles. “I want children, but at the moment, can we just enjoy being us for now,” she says as she wraps her arms around my waist and she hugs me.
I am happy she said that she wanted children. Since Brooke was gone, I have been thinking about having children; how many we would have, and would they look like her?
“I think we should go,” she says suddenly, pulling me from my thoughts.
I smile and take her hand in mine as we head out of our room and straight to the kitchen to have some food, I know everyone is in the conference room, but Brooke and I need food.
Once we grab some food and place it on the plates, we head straight to the conference room, where everyone is waiting for us.
We all greet each other; both Brooke and I take our seats at the head of the table as we are the alpha and Luna.
Both Alpha Josh and Todd stare at Brooke in amazement; once we are all seated, “It is so nice to have you back, Brooke finally,” says Alpha Josh. “We have been waiting on your arrival.”
Brooke smiles at him. “Thank you; it is so nice to see you both again.”
They both stare back with their mouths hanging open after she speaks; I can’t help the grin. Someone forgot to tell them that she had got her voice back.
“You can talk,” says Todd, clearing his throat.
“Willow and I regenerated for a long time. We needed to heal. The healing we should have had when we were first attacked should have happened, but due to everything and Willow being young, it had to be like it was,” she says.
Todd nods. “I have to say, you are one amazing woman Brooke,” he says; he moves out of his chair and bends down to pick something up. He places what looks like a book under his arm and heads to her. “Alpha Josh and I were looking through our mother’s old things, and we came across this,” he says as he places the book in front of her. “This book is yours,” says Alpha Josh. “It is all about your kind.”
Brooke looks at the book, running her hand over it. It looks ancient.
I look back at Todd. “I thought you told me there were no records of Phoenix shifters anywhere that Alfred destroyed them or something. How did your mother get this?” I ask him.
I can sense everyone in the room, especially Danica and Joe wondering the same thing as I did.
Todd looks back at me and smiles. “My mother was given the book as a gift and was told as a child never to give it to anyone but only to give it back to someone who is in the book,” he says.
“People thought our mum was crazy for believing in such things, but we were looking through it, and it has a section about Brooke and her phoenix side,” says Alpha Josh as Todd sits back next to him. “As for the books Alfred had from the history library, we have no clue where he had taken them. They have seemed to have vanished into thin air.”
Brooke hasn’t taken her eyes off the book, but she turns the page. “Where is it about us?” She asks.
“On page one hundred, Brooke,” Todd says with a smile.
Brooke flips the book to the page, and as the book opens, it lands on a page with a gigantic phoenix staring back at us.
Brooke leans over and starts to read, “Phoenix are rare creatures and shifters, there are never more than two at a time. They are mighty and have many powers” she stops and looks at her mother but looks back down and skims over the page till she comes to a paragraph on something.
“It has the prophecy that Sassy was on about last night,” she says.
I look over her shoulder as she carries on reading, “It is told of a prophecy where a Phoenix will once again form in numbers, but evil does rare an ugly head. Once people know about phoenix shifters, they can replace the one thing that can kill them…….” she says and looks back at me.
I move closer and take the book from her as she stares at me as I carry on reading as everyone wants to know, even I do.
“There is a place in a realm where a beast guards the colt which can kill a phoenix, the beast is the protector of every living creature, but it is said that the creature only wants a phoenix as its pet. He protects the thing that kills them until he knows there is more alive. He would come and collect his pets; anyone close to them will die a painful death but also will never see the Phoenix again,’ I say.
I look up to see some slightly stunned faces of the prophecy.
“What creature does it say?” Asked Sassy breaking the silence in the office.
“It doesn’t say,” I say, but I turn the page. I skim over it and shake my head. Brooke leans back in the chair by my side and places her hand on my leg.
I look at her, but she seems to be having a conversation of some kind with Willow.
I stared at the page in front of me. “There is more,” I said, not knowing what was going to be in the next part. I held Brooke’s hand in mine. “The creature has never been seen, but there is a place in the Fae realm where he sleeps, he sleeps and won’t be able to leave under any means, but if someone knows the spell to free him, they would be rewarded greatly,” I say and squeeze Brooke’s hand. “The creature has no mate, but if it has a fascination with something, it will take it as his own; it can have up to many mates. But also there is a way to kill the creature if needed.”
I looked over the next page, but the page was missing, “The page is missing,” I said.
Todd gets up as I slide the book over to him; he grabs it and looks at the pages we just read.
Todd drops his nose to the book and sniffs, but he growls suddenly. “We might have a problem,” he says in a snarl. “The scent left on here is of Amy,” he says.
I stare back at him in shock. “What do you mean, Amy?” I ask him.
Brooke looks between both of us. “What’s going on?” She asks.
“Amy left the pack as soon as you sacrificed yourself to save us,” I tell her. “I didn’t get around to telling you everything, but Amy and Shane decided to leave the pack as they thought you would not be happy if she were here when you got back.”
Brooke looks at me. “Why would she think that? I saved her and the baby from the rogue,” she says.
I smile, but I look towards the men before us as they shift slightly in their chairs.
“What’s wrong?” I asked them.
Alpha Josh cleared his throat. “Shane has settled well in the pack, he has become one of the head warriors, but Amy,” he says as he turns to look at Todd, who carries on, “Well, she was supposed to help me with my son, she was going to help with the children, but when Amy found out how much money her uncle had left she changed dramatically, she didn’t want to be around anyone. She even bought a house in the human village not far from the pack.”
Something doesn’t add up here.
“Amy moved into a human village; why?” I asked. Brooke moves her hand away from me, I look back at her, but she turns to Todd, who is staring between us. “She moved into a house which is closer to the territory to us, we didn’t mind, but something happened one evening. Shane came running into the packhouse asking to speak to us; when he got home, there was no sign of Amy anywhere; her baby sister was still sleeping in the cot when he got back,” he says.
I stare back at them, but Todd shakes his head. “After about two days, we found her. Amy looks all drugged up and doesn’t remember anything,” he says and looks at me. “Hudson, she is fine, but she doesn’t know what happened to her; it is like someone wiped her memory.”
“So how the hell is that human’s scent on then?” Says a voice.
I look towards Brooke, two black orbs staring back at me; she looks pissed.
Willow.
“I will deal with you later, MATE,” she says in hiss but turns to Todd. “How did her scent get on the book?”
“We didn’t know about the book, we only recently looked into our mother’s belongings, but I remember telling Amy about my mother having loads of things stored away; she must have looked through the stuff,” says Todd.
“I don’t think so,” says Sassy, she stares at Willow, “I think she was made to look for something about Brooke, something is happening, but whoever it is are hiding from my forces,” she says “I have no clue who it is, but they are clever, there is one thing I know though,” she says as she turns to Willow. “They are looking into everything that happened over the last few months before you sacrificed yourself; I think it is to do with that uncle of hers; he might have put a word into the wrong people. But there is one bright side to all this,” she says with a smile. “I think we should hold a Luna ceremony for Brooke, show united in all of this.”
I stare back at her, but Willow hisses, “We will decide when that will happen, but I want to know something; your foresight may not tell you who it is, but do you know how long it will be,” she asks. “I mean, I can tell there is a long period as they might be trying to replace the creature that can kill us, or is it all a myth everything and people don’t believe in the tale.”
Sassy stares at Willow and sighs. “I think we have years till anything happens,” she says and looks at me. “I think we should take a break and let you both have some food.”
With that, she moves and leaves the office; I look around. Some disappointed faces are going, but they all look at me as if I did something wrong.
Everyone leaves which leave Brooke and me I. Brooke has now walked over to the window to stare out. I stare at her.
I know she can sense me looking at her, but she doesn’t turn around.
