4 : The Black Orbs

Chappter 4

Carson Point of View

I woke up with sunlight peaking from the white curtains of my room and streaming on my face. Iclosed my eyes tightly as a soft groan escaped my mouth and turned face down on my bed to getsome sleep when my alarm blared in the silent room.

A muffled growl resonated from my chest before I turned around on my back with a pillow held onmy face with one of my arms and turned off the alarm by the other. As the annoying sound andlight were out of my way of sleep, a small relieved smile made its way on my lips while I readiedmyself to go back to sleep.

I was threading so close to falling asleep as I had mentally decided to skip college today, but mymemory had other plans because it reminded me of the new students that were supposed to jointoday and meet me since I'm the council president.

I sighed with eyes still closed as the fact made itself known to me and kept laying motionlessly onmy bed for minutes before getting up from the bed and stretched my body. I then walked to thecurtains draped over the French windows and slid them aside to let the room be illuminated by thesoft morning sunlight.

My eyes took in the vast forest that is spread out and covering every inch of the soil as far as I cansee. The wolves running in the forest didn't go unnoticed by my enhanced vision, and I felt my ownwolf clawing at the back of my mind to be let out for a run.

“We have a lot of work in the college, Cleo.” I reminded my wolf.

“But I want to go for a run.’ He replied without missing a beat.

“Let's do this, once we are back from college, you can have full control and run as much as youwant.’ I suggested to my wolf, who yipped at my words and agreed without a protest.

Since I give Cleo full control of our mind and body occasionally, it's a substantial offer for him. Asfor me, I like to have a good hold on my wolf because even though we both share this body equally;I know our wolves are our irrational part. Their reaction is ten times more of their human's reaction.I snap out of my thoughts when my phone begins ringing and walk back to my beige nightstand,which also holds a lamp and check the caller ID. The College administration officer's name flasheson the screen and I scrunch up my face before picking up the call.

“You are late for your meeting with new undergraduate students, Mr. Carson Woods.” She spokewith disdain in her voice.

“Mrs. Anna, I hope you understand I have a lot of things to attend to. They all can meet MissWesley, I'm sure, she won't mind.” I informed Anna while walking to my beige desk placed on theopposite side of the bed.

"Okay, Mr. Woods. But I would like it very much if you reach the college premises at the soonest andmeet at least some of the students.” Anna spoke in her professional voice.

“I'll be there in twenty-something minutes, you can send the remaining students to the gym, then. Ihope this works fine with you, Mrs. Anna, because that's the most you will be getting from my side.Now, I have a college to reach on time so I would like to hang up.” I spoke with barely containedanger.

"Of course, right. See you soon, Mr. Woods.” With those words, Anna hanged up while I gritted myteeth in anger.

She was the Beta’s wife of the rival pack, and we both hated each other with a passion. I took in adeep breath to calm down my anger before walking towards the polished black wooden doubledoors that led to my extravagant bathroom.

I quickly stripped down my black boxers upon reaching the laundry hamper placed in the cornerand entered the glass shower to wash myself. As the cold water cascaded down my back, I sighed incontentment and scrubbed my body.

I wrapped the white towel around my waist after the shower and made my way into my walk-incloset, which is filled with different types of clothes available for men and shoes of every style.Without paying any attention to the rest of my clothes, I walked to the section which only has blackand took out a pair of Black sports shorts and a fitted V-neck T-shirt.

I wore my clothes and then walked to the other section and picked up a white shirt and lightwashed blue denims to pack for a change. Not even bothering to set my messy room, I took myblack college bag and headed to college. The members with cleaning duty are supposed to cleanmy room so I never bother myself with it.

The whole packhouse was quiet as I descended the stairs, and it is expected because everyone issupposed to train at this time while the children are supposed to be in the pack kindergarten. Iwalked out of the packhouse and towards the garage before picking up a set of keys from the oneshanging on the keyholder. I unlocked the car while walking to the black Mercedes and settled insideit before driving off to college.

The college is ten minutes’ drive from the packhouse and if I'm in a hurry, then it takes me fiveminutes to reach the college, which explains my current location. I rolled down my tinted windowfor the guards to see me and spoke for confirmation. “Carson Woods.”

The gates instantly opened for my car and I drove inside before replaceing my car spot. It is specificallyfor my car and no one is allowed to park on the spot. I parked my car in my regular spot and walkedin the direction of the gym.

Unlike to reach any other place in college, I don't have to use the main entrance when it comes tothe gym because it has a separate entrance which is just for the gym area. I made my way to mygym locker and placed my bag in there before coming back into the gym area and began workingout. Since werewolves easily burn calories, I was sweating like crazy half way through my workoutand decided to take off my t-shirt, which was clinging to my abs like a second skin.

Placing the t-shirt on one of the treadmill tops, I walked to the pull-up bars. I jumped a bit and tooka hold of the bar and began doing my pull-ups. I was on my last rep when I felt an intense gaze onmy back. As I was facing the opposite side of the gym entrance, I did not know who it is, but I didn'thave to wonder for a much longer time.

As the intense gaze didn't waver from my back for a long time, I turned on the pull-up bars to facethe intruder who was gazing at me with such intensity. However, my breath halted when my eyeslanded on the girl standing in front of me.

She has light caramel hair that were tied in a half bun while small strands framed her oval faceperfectly. She is wearing a mustard dress that compliments her pale skin and hourglass figure. Herplump pink lips are parted as she gazes at my body intensely without missing a beat.

As much as I was enjoying her heated gaze on my body, I wanted her eyes on my face and I wasalso dying to see her eyes, which were cast downwards at this moment. With my patience runningthin, I asked her the question I wanted to ask her the moment my eyes landed on her. “Who areyou?"

At my question, her head dipped down to hide her face, and it only made me angry because I wassupposed to see her eyes. “I...I was asked to meet the president since I joined today. I was lookingfor him.” Her melodious voice instantly calmed down my anger and a smirk graced my lips.

She is looking for me. For the first time, I wanted to thank Anna for sending this beauty to me.However, I did nothing like that instead I let her knew who I'm. “I'm the council president, CarsonWoods."

Just as I spoke the words, her head snapped up and her coal-black eyes met mine. Those eyes werelike deep pools which sucked me in them like there was nothing apart from those midnight blackorbs. They were so dark that even with my enhanced vision, I couldn't differentiate between her irisand pupil.

However, those orbs didn’t shock me as much as what I heard next shocked me.
