Chapter 27

Jace's POV

After a wonderful time with my mate, Luna and mother of my daughterwe went to go and check up on Lucy, Amber and the twins who wereplaying and watching Lilith for us while we had some alone timetogether. When we were showered and dressed we walked out of ourroom and down the stairs hand in hand while slowly making our way tothe backyard where we knew they would be. As soon as we got outsidewe saw them all sitting on a blanket playing and laughing with Lilithwho was just cooing and moving and just having an all out ball beingoutside. We stood just outside the pack house admiring everyoneenjoying and spending time with our daughter knowing she was ingood hands and with people who give their lives for her already.

Skylar eventually walked over to them and sat and played with our littlegirl while I stood there admiring the sight even though I had a naggingfeeling in my gut telling me that something bad was coming soon. Eventhough it has been 2 months since we got that note from that Vanceperson saying that he was coming for my mate I have had more patrolsout and I don't let Skylar or my daughter leave the pack house unless Iam with them. Even if they are outside I always make sure I am withthem or I have at lease 10 warriors with them at all times just in case.Before I could walk over to the group and just relax a little and enjoybeing with my family I got a mind link from one of my wolves that wasout on patrol.

“Alpha we have a situation that needs your attention right away" he sayshurriedly through the link

“What is it what's going on?" I ask him back concerned

“All the rogues that were camping out on the south border are nowgetting ready to attack’ he says with a grunt as if he was in pain. I soonstart getting more reports like this from all the other wolves that wereout on patrol. Going into complete alpha mode I walked over to mymate and my friends and told them what was going on and what Iwanted them to do.

"Skylar I want you, Lucy, Amber, Jasper and Alex all to go into thehouse and stay there until I get back.” I say to her in a demanding voicemaking sure she knew that this was serious and urgent.

"Alright baby we will and don't worry about us we have 4 very skilledand deadly fighters protecting us and I am very capable of handlingmyself so me and Lilith will be alright. I love yo Jace" She says back tome as she scoops up our daughter and runs right back into the houseand locking the door behind them.

Jasper go around the pack house and make sure every window anddoor is locked up tight and don't let Skylar or Lilith out of your sight." Imind link him

“Got it Alpha I will protect them with my life’ He says back withdetermination and love for his Luna and our daughter. I am so glad Ihave people in my pack that I trust with watching my family. Once theyare inside and safe I shift and take off to the south border to help themthere while I mind link my warriors to shift and spread out along theborder to help out with the attacks and I also make sure I have at least6 warriors stay behind and guard the pack house. Once I get to thesouth border I see just how bad everything is and I can see at least 3 ofmy men dead along with 6 of the rogues dead but they still out numberus greatly. I sprint into action attacking and dodging and killing roguesleft right and center as I help here and once my warriors get her I headoff to another part of the border to help them out. While I am out herefighting the only thing I can think about is my mate and my daughterhoping that they are alright and not in any sort of danger.

Skylar's POV

As soon as I saw Jace's expression I knew something was wrong. Oncehe explained everything I scooped up my little girl and ran into thepack house and made sure that it was locked as soon as Alex wasthrough. I saw Jasper zone out knowing he was talking through themind link before he turned to us and told us to go upstairs and go intoLilith's room and lock the door and not to open it up unless for them orJace. Immediately Lucy, Amber, and I all look at each other and run upto Lilith's room as I hear Jasper get Alex to help him make sure thatevery door and window was locked and secured around the entire packhouse.

Once in Lilith's room me and Lucy go in but Amber needed to go to herroom to get something probably a knife just in case. We lock the doorbehind her and go and sit in the comfy chairs I made sure were in here.So that me and Jace and whoever else was in here with Lilith wascomfortable. Time seemed to drag on and Amber still hadn't comeback to the room and I was starting to get worried seeing as an uneasyfeeling was starting to settle in the pit of my stomach. As soon as Lucywas going to go and look for her we heard a crash come fromdownstairs along with a string of profanities and grunts knowing thatsomeone was in the house who wasn't supposed to be here and a fightwas breaking out.

Soon the sounds faded and then we heard foot steps coming closer tous and soon they stopped right outside the door. The person statedbanging on the door excessively and I was surprised that Lilith didn'twake up and start crying. Hesitantly Lucy asked who it was but theynever answered they just kept pounding on the door until it eventuallybroke down and he walked in and looked around until his eyes fell onme and my daughter making him smile.

"I found her she's up here boys" He yells out to the 2 other guys he waswith as they ran our way and coming into the room making our odds ofgetting out of this without getting too hurt right out the window. In mymind I start to panic as the only thing I wanted to do was to protect mydaughter at all costs and I will do anything to make sure she stays safeeven if it means giving myself over to them. Before I can even come toterms with what is going on Lucy had shifted into her beautiful blondewolf and started to attack the men that had come into the roomlooking for me to take me away from here. I snapped out of mythoughts when I heard Lucy whimper as she was tossed into the wall onthe other side of the room.

"What the fuck do you want from us?" I ask the men standing there noteven fazed by Lucy's attack attempt.

"Don't worry sweetie we don't care about that thing you are holding wewere only sent here to get you for our Alpha” the one in the middlesaid with a wicked grin

"What if I don't want to go with you?" I ask

"Well we can do this the easy way or the hard way and you won't likethe hard way. So be a good girl and come with us willingly before wetake your daughter with us instead and we don't know what our Alphawill do her since she isn't you." He says back to me before walkingcloser to me anticipating what I will do next. I look over to Lucy whohad shifted back and was passed out on the floor where she landed,then I looked down at my daughter who was still fast asleep andoblivious to what was going on around her.

"I love you my baby girl and I promise you I will see you again” I say toher as tears stream down my face at a steady pace. I place her gentlyback into her crib making sure she was alright before I turn around andgive myself over to the men not wanting any one else to get hurtbecause of me. As they walk me out of the house I make sure theyaren't paying attention to me as I mind link my mate.

I'm so sorry baby please take care of Lilith for me and tell her I loveher. I love you so much baby and promise me you will look for me. Idon't want to do this but it's the only way for me to save you so pleasepromise me you will replace me and I will replace a way to make sure I make itback to you. I 'm sorry and I love you so, so, so much my one and onlylove’ I say to Jace through the mind link before blocking it before I gotcaught.
