Chapter 4

Skylar's POV

When I woke up from the best sleep I had ever had in my life I gotdressed and waited for the twins to get out of a pack meeting so Icould ask them to come with me on a run, I also asked them if theycould show me some places I could run without being seen. The twinswere very excited and agreed to go with me on my run and aboutfinally seeing my wolf. Personally I was very excited to finally havesomeone see my wolf because she was beautiful but I was also nervousbecause of my wolf's strange coloured fur and eyes. I don't know muchabout wolves because no one ever taught me anything besides the factthat usually a wolfs fur and eyes are the same colour as their humanform but I didn't know why mine were so different was beyond me. Iwanted to research it one day but my psychotic brother decided itwould be hilarious to break my hand in multiple places because he wasbored and in a bad mood for some reason. I was snapped out of mybad thoughts when I saw the twins running at me excitedly.

“Skylar can we go for a run now?" Jasper whined looking at me withpuppy dog eyes

“I'm with Jasper, come on lets get going last one there is a rotten egg!”Alex shouted while running towards the forest to shift

“No fair you guys are cheating” I said pouting as I watched the twinsbegin to shift into their wolves and when they came out from behindthe bushes I saw that they were both beautiful chocolate brown wolves.The only way I could even tell them apart from each other is becauseAlex's paws were black instead of brown and Jasper had a white patchon his chest. After I was done admiring the twins wolves I went andshifted into my reddish gold eyes and blood red and black highlightedfur and the boy's jaws dropped taring at me which made me a little selfconscious and the next thing I know they were back in their humanforms looking at me with amazement in their eyes which made menervous so i tucked my tail between my legs and layed on the groundand whined at them unsure of what to do.

"OMFG Jasper she's gorgeous. She is one of the rarest wolves ever. Noone has seen a wolf like her in like a thousand years and now she’sshowed up here in our pack of all places.” Alex was saying to Jasper

As I lay there watching them I stopped whining and just stared at themwith confusion about what they meant by what they said about mebeing some rare type of wolf. Next thing I know I felt someone touchmy fur which scared the hell out of me and as I jumped up and lookedat who touched me I realized it was Jace, I stared at him wonderingwhere the fuck he came from. I shifted back to my human form and gotdressed and looked at Jace and the twins who were all staring at me,looking at me with my reddish gold eyes and blood red and black hairwhich made me feel awkward and shy.

“Jace what did the twins mean when they said that I'm some rare wolfand staring at me like I have 2 heads?” I shyly ask him

“Skylar darling would you come with me to my office so I can talk toyou about this please” Jace said to me with a grin

“Okaii darling” I said back to him which made his beautiful face light upI was following behind Jace as we were making our way to his officeand after what felt like forever we finally stopped in front of a huge setof nicely crafted wooden doors, as we entered the room he asked meto sit in one of the chairs in front of his desk as he headed to a giantbookshelf to look for a specific book. Once he found the book he waslooking for he came and sat on the chair next to me while showing mea picture of a wolf that looked very similar to mine. I just sat therestaring at the picture for a few moments before I was able to replace myvoice to finally look up at Jace to ask him what was on my mind.

“Jace what kind of wolf is this?” I asked him staring down at the pictureof the black wolf with red paws and tail that had a white star on it's sidewhere as I had blood red fur with black highlights and a black hear onmy chest.

"That there is a very rare kind of wolf, those wolves are said to havespecial powers that they develop after they replace their mate andcomplete the mating process. These kinds of wolves are called HellHounds, they are the fastest, strongest and most feared wolves aroundthey are even stronger and as tall as an alpha wolf. Hell Hounds aretypically warrior type wolves and people who weren't terrified of themwould hire them as security, guards, or as mercenaries all because oftheir stealth, strength and ferocity. Now once a Hell Hound and theirmate complete the process they both go through a transformationduring the next full moon that comes after the day that they completedthe mating process. No one really knows what powers they might be asthey change for every wolf, which makes me wonder what kind ofpowers you will inherit darling.” Jace told me as I stared at him in awe.“Ahhhh I see, I know I am a very weird wolf and I would understand ifyou wanted me to leave.” I said to him with very sad eyes

“I would never ever ask you to leave Skylar, you are the mostenchanting creature I have ever met with such a gorgeous wolf, haven'tyou realized just who you are?” Jace asked me while putting his handon my knee and staring straight into my eyes and when he did that Ifelt little sparks and tingles where his hand was on my knee but I justshook it off as nothing but chock at what he had just told me.

“Umm no I don't the only people who have ever seen my wolf besidesme are the twins and you, wait are you telling me that I am one ofthese rare Hell Hound wolves?” I looked at him as the realization ofwhat he told me finally sinks in.

“Is this the first time you are learning about the Hell Hounds or wolvesin general?” he asks me

“Pretty much, but I do remember some of my old pack members weretalking about them and they say that they got special powers and theythey lived extremely long lives and that once they replace their mare andcomplete the mating process is when they get their powers. Some evensay that they can cheat death like the legend of the wolf of Eternal Lifebut then they just laughed it off and said that it was nothing more thena myth because one hasn't been found in like a thousand years, welluntil now I guess.” I said chuckling lightly with a shy smile on my face.“Well it would make sense if they could cheat death because the HellHounds are descendants of the wolf of Eternal Life. Once other thingthat you should know is that they say when the next Hell Hound isreborn she will be the salvation for some and the destruction of others.They also say that she will usher in the new era for all of werewolf kindunder her and her mates rule, which would basically make her and hermate the King and Queen of all werewolves.”

“Welp my special little Skylar, if you haven't clued into what I have beensaying you are a very rare and special wolf, my little Hell Hound andQueen it is a great honour to have the saviour of werewolves in mypack” Jace said with admiration and love swirling in those gorgeouslight blue eyes of his that just make me melt.

“Whoa whoa whoa wait a minute aren't Hell Hounds supposed to bestrong, fierce warrior type wolves and not scrawny, weak, and brokenlike me.” I said with sadness and shame seeping into my words I saidjust above a whisper but I knew he heard me.

Jace sat there looking at me intently before speaking “Once I get youinto training you will become the fiercest leader anyone will ever see,you are a rare Hell Hound and the future Queen of werewolves whichmeans you will become one of the strongest wolves alive especially sineyou also have alpha blood in you as well. Since we know what you are Iwill set up a meeting with the elders right away darling.” Jace saidlovingly

Once we finished talking I left his office still in utter disbelief and shockover being told that I am a rare wolf which is crazy if you really thinkabout it. I couldn't help but think about my old pack wondering if theywould have known about me if they would have treated me differentlyand actually been nice to me but I doubt they would've treated medifferently. To work through these thoughts and to come to terms withwho I was I went and looked for the twins and we all finally went forthat run I wanted to go on and they brought mt to a large clearing thatwe played and ran around until we were exhausted and went back tothe pack house.

Once back at the pack house I went to my room showered and gotready for bed and when I layed on my bed thinking about today mywolf decided to pipe up and say something.

“Goddammit Skylar they are your past. We are stronger without themand you will rise up and become the greatest leader anyone will everknow. We will show them that they fucked up and that they nevershould've treated us the way that they did. If our mate was with us wewould be better but he rejected us because he didn't want us which ishis loss so we will have to make due on our own.” my wolf Athena saidto me before I fell into the most glorious sleep ever.
