The Alpha's Unwanted Mate -
The Alpha’s Unwanted Mate Chapter 43
Zillon didn’t talk to her for the rest of the day and if his eyes caught hers, the look in them would be colder than ice. She understood his anger, she understood that she was wrong, but…
Celeste zipped her suitcase closed distractedly, nothing but sadness in her eyes as she watched him pack his bags. Could he not just forgive her?
Every single time he glared at her, an additional piece of her heart fell from her chest and into the pit of her stomach. She hated it, she kept wishing things would go back to how they were, but every time she attempted to get close to him, he’d walk away.
It’s been hours now, she craved his attention, his touch, but she doubt he’d be kind enough to issue her either. He probably hated her now, the look in his eyes made that obvious and yet Celeste couldn’t help but wish that her assumption was wrong.
These past few days were special to her and she really didn’t want anything between them to change. But as he said before, she was weak; weak physically and emotionally.
In that forest, she couldn’t defend herself or a member of her pack and after watching that member die, all she could do was have a mental breakdown. She was useless, Zillon had every right to not want her, he had every right to discard her.
The words he said when she first stepped foot in his house was the utmost truth. Celia was better than her, if it was her in that forest then she would have been able to protect herself, she’d probably have saved the pack member too.
The b***d wouldn’t have scared her either, she was strong-minded, nothing like Celeste. Zillon would really be better with someone like her…why did he choose her then?
He knew she was weak from the beginning, he knew she’d only burden the pack instead of uplifting it, he knew and yet he chose her. She should be grateful, she was…but look at how she repaid him for choosing her…
She sneaked off into the forest and almost died…. Such disgrace should not be spoken of.
Looking away, Celeste wiped the tears that graced her eyes. She truly felt hopeless, she wanted to apologize, but he wouldn’t let her…
He probably didn’t want to hear a sorry from her lips, he probably…he probably…
Celeste gripped the sheets, almost biting her tongue when she called his name. “Z-Zillon…”
He didn’t answer, but Celeste knew he was looking at her with that empty stare.
“I-I’m sor—” she started, but Zillon disrupted her with a question that was totally uncalled for. “Are you done packing?”
Celeste turned to look at him, nodding despite not wanting to.
“Then come on, we don’t have much time to waste.” He grabbed his bags, leading the way out the door.
Celeste followed him, struggling with the suitcase as she went down the stairs. She knew he heard and yet, he didnt even try to help. He really was serious about ignoring her and Celeste’s hopelessness rose at that.
The wheels rolled down the last step and Celeste nearly stumbled forward, her eyes getting blurry as tears once again graced them. “Z-Zillon…?”
“What?”
“I…I’m—”
“It makes no sense you apologize Celeste, what is done is done, a sorry can never undo it.”
“But—”
“Zillon, you’re being hard on her again, aren’t you guys tired of fighting?”
Zillon’s mother walked into the living room, throwing an arm over Celeste’s shoulder. “Are you alright sweetie? I’m sure what you witness was new and overwhelming, I hope it won’t take a toll on you.”
“I-I’m okay…”
Celine extended a hand, wiping the tears that tainted her cheeks. “Don’t cry over that bastard anymore, he’ll come apologize to you soon. This time, don’t forgive him.”
“Bu—”
The woman chuckled, pinching Celeste’s cheeks. “I’m kidding, you can if you want, but if you are to choose between your happiness and his, choose yours. Your peace is more important and if he keeps disturbing it, it doesn’t make sense you stay only to suffer. He’s my son, but I’m on your side…it must’ve been painful, you’ve endured so much pain because of him already, don’t let him put you through anymore.”
She pulled Celeste into her arms, hugging her tightly. “Next time you visit, you’re cooking and you’re doing the dishes as well.”
Celeste’s arm reluctantly wrapped around her slim waist in a hug which she had never gotten from her own parents. “I…I’d be glad to.”
Tears flooded her cheeks as she thought of all the acceptance Zillon’s parents had given her. They have never judged her for being weak, they were so nice and they treated her like she was their equal. She liked how they were, even Gregory treated her as if she was a princess when she sat by his side.
He was truly an alpha, his aura was so strong and yet it managed to comfort her. “I should go tell Alpha Gregory bye now.”
“No need, you’ll come back again, a later would do princess, that and a hug.”
Celeste pulled away from Celine, looking up to see Gregory leant with a gentle smile against the wall. She slowly approached him, stretching her arms open and wrapping them around his muscular form. “Later alpha Gregory.”
“Later princess.”
She pulled away from him and then waved as she approached Zillon who stood from a distance watching.
“Son, nothing to tell me?”
“I’ll be on patrol tonight, that’s all.”
“How about giving your father and mother a hug?”
“I’m good, I’ll live without hugs, bye then.”
“Alright son, be good and treat my daughter-in-law like the princess she is.”
