The Alpha's Unwanted Mate
The Alpha’s Unwanted Mate Chapter 74 Book 2 Chapter 6

Xavier didn’t come back until night landed like a plane over Celeste’s head, but nevertheless, she had been patient despite the little ache that had been tormenting her head. She sat by his room door, and only moved when she was going to the bathroom or going to eat.

Now as Xavier approached his room or in her eyes ‘her’ nothing but excitement filled her chest. She jumped up from her sitting position and grinned cheekily at him. “You’ve been gone all day, I thought you weren’t going to come back.”

“I had business to take care of…” He walked pass her, pushing his door open. “Were you here all day? Gabriel told me that you’ve been waiting for me?”

Celeste nodded. “I wanted to see you…to talk about last night…”

Xavier looked away, stepping into his room. “I’m not in the mood to talk about that right now…my pride is still too low for me to keep my calm around you. Go back to your room…I’ll talk to you tomorrow.”

Celeste swallowed the saliva that had settled in her mouth, her eyes glued to his back as she shook her head. “No, I don’t want to go back…we don’t have to talk about that now, we could talk about something else and w—”

“I don’t think I want to see your face either, not now at least.”

Celeste’s heart cracked, her hands clenching by her side. She wouldn’t cry, she wouldn’t cry, she wouldn’t cr—

A teardrop slid down her cheek and Celeste hurriedly wiped it, in aid of not letting him see. “Ok-okay.”

She turned her back to him, ready to walk off, but his voice stopped her. “I told you not to cry anymore Celeste…fighters don’t cry…”

Celeste wiped her eyes again, sniffing. “You’re right, fighters don’t cry, not for something as small as this…”

She bit her lips and started to walk away, but once again his calm and collected voice stopped her. “Come here.”

Reluctantly Celeste peeked back at him, her eyes assessing his open arms before running straight into them.

Xavier sighed out, the sound seeming to be one of relief. “Did you eat?”

Celeste nodded. “I did…”

“I heard you trained a lot too, did you get any rest?”

Celeste shook her head. “I was tired, but I wanted to see you…so I-so I waited.”

“Celeste I told yo—”

“I’m sorry….” Out of nowhere came Celeste’s broken and subdued voice, cutting him off.

“I know…” Xavier replied.

“I didn’t mean to say his name…it’s just that nobody else had ever touched me before…it’s just him and the…then you…yo—”

“You don’t have to explain it, I understand I really do. I was forceful and you weren’t ready…he’s your mate, I understand that there’s a bond between you two that not even I can break and that’s why today I thought about letting you go, but I couldn’t bring myself to. You’re too precious, honestly you’re the light that keeps me throughout each day.”

“T-Then what about when you replace your mate? I know I’m being selfish, but at least love me until then.”

“I’ll love you forever Celeste, I don’t believe in mates, the only thing I believe in is you…you were like a diamond buried beneath the dirt back in highschool too, the more I dug, the bigger you got…I’ve been watching you since then. You barely had friends, I thought of unconcealing myself to talk to you, but I never had the courage to.” He ran his hand through her messy hair. “At one point I pitied myself even more than I pitied you. I was so stupid, I was a rogue and yet I wanted someone as beautiful as you. I don’t even know what was it that drew me into you, but it’s so strong because even now I can’t pull back. The moon goddess made a mistake, you were born to be mated to me.”

“Xavier…” Celeste wrapped her arm around him. “There’s really nothing special about me…why me?”

“Because we were different, you were like me; unwanted…I wasn’t good enough to be an alpha or a son, nobody wanted me and back then I wanted to be wanted…much like you…perhaps that’s where it all began.”

“I’m sorry you had to experience that…”

“Me too, but we’ve been standing out here for quite a while, come in, you need rest.”

Celeste nodded, pulling away from his chest. She stepped pass the door and followed him inside to the bedroom.

“You’re alright with staying here again tonight, right?”

“Yes, I trust yo—”

Celeste leant against the wall when a sudden dizziness hit her, her vision blurred and the miner headache she felt since today took curves in her head. Her stomach felt a bit bloated, her mouth tasted like salt and she felt just about ready to block out.

Her chest heaved and in suddenness, all the food in her stomach came to splatter against the floor. She held onto the wall for support, and then onto Xavier who rushed over patting her back. “Are you alright?”

Celeste took a deep breath in, then nodded. “Yes.”

“Are you sure, what did you eat today?”

“I ate the pancakes Yalae gave me for breakfast and then I ate dinner. Stewed meat along with some mashed potatoes and rice.”

“Then why…?”

He helped her up, bringing her over to the bed, a hand feeling delicately at her neck. “You do feel a little hot. Perhaps you’re exhausted from the extra training you did today, get some sleep, I’ll clean this up and get right back to you.”
