The Apple of My Eye -
Chapter 1651 Being Confused
Jordan was confused. What had Cassie done for Cora to deserve her loyalty?
"Jordan, I am not taking Cassie's side. I just can't bear to see you being so ruthless to her. Look at what you've done. In the past, you were unwilling to give her up. Now that you have a rich girlfriend, you wish that you have never known Cassie. I have never known anyone like you. What's more, Cassie wasn't the one who came to you. How can you say that she will do harm to your girlfriend? It is not like Cassie pursued you to begin with," Cora said in one breath, feeling angrier than before.
Hearing Cora's words, Jordan was speechless, but he didn't plan to let Cassie go.
Because he was quite amoral, he suspiciously attributed bad motives to anybody else, and had to defend himself. He was afraid that Cassie would do anything to offend his girlfriend.
He secretly promised himself that if his girlfriend left him, he would take Cassie's life.
"Okay, I see. I am narrow-minded, huh? Go away now. I have to go and stay with my girlfriend." Not wanting to hear more from Cora, Jordan instructed her to leave.
Seeing that Jordan was so anxious, Cora left and went to check her patients.
Half an hour later, Cassie had finished her rounds and prepared to meet Cora and have dinner with her. On the way, Jordan stopped her.
Cassie saw that he was purposely blocking her way, and asked unhappily, "What on earth do you want Jordan?"
Since Cassie wanted to walk around him, Jordan grabbed her arm.
Cassie couldn't move one step and shouted furiously, "Let me go!"
"Cassie, I warn you. If you dare to talk nonsense again, I will make you regret it." Jordan was excited at hearing Cassie shout herself hoarse.
Cassie was unable to reply. Why would she talk nonsense about his business? She really couldn't understand where he was coming from.
"Jordan, I don't get it. What did I do to make you so scared that you'd even threaten me?" Cassie thought she was too powerless to fight back. She had never seen such a brazen person.
Wasn't Jordan making false counterarguments? Cassie regretted that she hadn't been more ruthless to Jordan before.
She finally realized that because she had previously condoned him, he was now so reckless. But now, she had to endure it.
"Let me go! I have nothing to say to you." Cassie felt really irritated.
With Cassie struggling, Jordan had to exert more strength and accidentally pushed her down.
Surprised that Jordan had used so much strength on her, Cassie fell to the floor, her head hitting against the wall.
Cassie covered her head instantly, feeling like it was going to explode. Unable to move, she had to squat down.
Noticing that there was something wrong, Jordan became nervous and immediately ran away.
Cora was on her way to meet Cassie for dinner, but Jordan rushed past and bumped into her. Seeing Jordan so nervous, Cora was confused and wondered what had happened. Not thinking too much, she walked on. It didn't take long before she saw Cassie.
"Cassie..." Seeing Cassie now lying on the floor, Cora rushed over.
Finding a nurse and the doctor, she helped to rush Cassie into the operating room.
Halfway during the operation, Nick came rushing into the hospital.
He was out of breath, and looked at the door of the operating room, in doubt.
Several hours ago, Cassie had been chatting with him on the phone, but now she was in the operating room fighting for her life yet again.
For the first time in his life, he found that the red colored light saying, "In Operation", was so offending to the eyes.
"Nick, don't worry," Cora tried to comfort him. "The doctor said that there is coagulated blood in her head from her last fall. Her head bumping against the wall this time caused the coagulated blood to suppress a nerve. But as long as the surgery is successful, Cassie will be fine." Cora was afraid that Nick would do something because he was so worried.
Guessing that Cassie's accident might be related to Jordan, all Cora could do was to pray that Cassie would get through this disaster. Otherwise, her brother should take full responsibility.
"I know, Cassie will survive this. She won't leave me alone," Nick mumbled to comfort himself.
Cora felt guilty to see Nick like this. She regretted that she didn't keep a closer eye on her brother, instead of letting him make such trouble.
For now, Nick stayed outside the operating room and waited for Cassie, while Cora went to look for Jordan.
Jordan sat in the corridor of the hospital, feeling restless at the thought of Cassie falling after he pushed her.
He just wanted to scare Cassie and hadn't thought that it would end like this.
"Jordan, you..." Seeing Jordan's expression, Cora knew that he was frightened. She looked at him in disappointment.
"How is Cassie?" Jordan nervously asked Cora.
"She is still in the operating room. You'd better pray that Cassie will be okay. Otherwise, you will be put in jail." Cora's mind was a mess. She came to Jordan to blame him and make him realize the current situation.
"Cora, you need to help me. I can't go to jail now. I finally found a girlfriend, Annie. She is loyal to me and very rich. I will become rich soon. I can't get into trouble because of this. I really can't!" Jordan held Cora's hand, begging her.
"It's useless to beg. The one in trouble now is Cassie!" Although Cora disliked some of Jordan's behavior, he was her older brother. How could she stand by and do nothing when he was in trouble?
"I am going to check on Cassie first. I will ask her to show mercy to you. But I warn you. Don't bother Cassie anymore in the future." Cora was furious and glared at Jordan.
She had never failed to remind him previously, but he had also never listened to her. Now what she feared had finally happened.
"I assure you, I will never again approach Cassie in the future," Jordan promised Cora.
Cora was clear that Jordan must remember this after such a serious accident. She then gave her brother some instructions before she turned to leave.
After Cora left, Jordan sat down, at complete a loss. He admitted to himself that he still loved Cassie, but he couldn't understand why she had no feelings for him. So Jordan's goal had been clear after they had broken up. He would look for a woman who could help him with his career.
Initially, he just didn't want Cassie to discuss the past with Annie. However, if he knew he would end up hurting Cassie, he wouldn't have bothered her.
Of course, he felt sorry for Cassie. But more importantly, he didn't want to make trouble or let Annie know about his and Cassie's history.
Now he realized that he had made a fool of himself in trying to be smart. He could only depend on Cora.
When Cora arrived at the operating room, Cassie's surgery had just finished. The doctor just came out.
"Doctor, how is Cassie?" Nick held his breath as he waited for news, staring at the doctor's face.
"Relax. Cassie is fine now. The coagulated blood has been cleared up, and there is no damage to her nerve." The doctor then patted Nick's shoulder, trying to convince him not to worry. Hearing what the doctor said, Nick finally sighed with relief.
They went to the ward where Cassie was recovering.
