The Apple of My Eye -
Chapter 1978 Plan
Cassie had already discussed it with Nick, and she'd decided she wasn't going to tell Isla about it, fearing that something would happen.
"Don't worry. I won't tell Isla. But you can't be sad about it anymore." Nick knew that anyone who went through this wouldn't be able to just easily forget it.
Cassie knew that Nick just wanted her to be happy. She forced a smile and said, "Do you really think I'm going to do anything? Don't worry. I won't do anything stupid." "What are you going to do?" Nick asked, partly in fear.
"Ha-ha..." Cassie laughed when she saw how nervous Nick was.
"Don't worry. I'm serious. I won't do anything stupid. I'm not going to fight with Charles. He's already left Sher. Fighting him won't change anything."
Cassie was a smart woman. She knew that she couldn't do anything about Charles and Sheryl, so all she could do was be angry.
"Well, you're right. I was just very worried about you." Nick only relaxed when Cassie assured him she wasn't going to do anything. "Well, let's go and replace Isla. She must be worried about us." Now that Nick wasn't nervous, Cassie urged him to drive faster. "Okay! I will!" Nick held Cassie's hand in his one hand. He seemed to be relaxed.
They talked and laughed throughout the car ride. Cassie had forgotten all her troubles and was in a good mood now.
Sheryl had invited them to dinner to show her appreciation for all their help. If it hadn't been for them, she wouldn't have known what she would have done as she had gone through quite a difficult time. Sheryl found an elegant restaurant that Nick and Cassie was sure to like.
She and Isla was already waiting in the restaurant. Isla looked around and sighed. "Why did you choose this restaurant? We're not a couple. All the other people here are couples!" Isla complained, rolling her eyes.
Sheryl patted Isla's arm as she said, "Fine. I'll choose a better place next time."
"It's too late to transfer to a different restaurant now. We're stuck here all night watching Nick and Cassie's PDA." Isla looked at Sheryl with an envious expression.
Sheryl laughed upon seeing this. She shook her head.
Soon after, Nick and Cassie arrived. As they approached the table, they held each other's hands. Isla rolled her eyes again and pointed at them as she said, "Look, the PDA's already starting!" "Ha-ha! You were the same way when you were still in love with Aron. You can't blame them," Sheryl said to Isla in a low voice.
When Nick and Cassie had reached their table, Isla suddenly said, "Don't say anything! Just order what you like. Sheryl's footing the bill." After which, she handed them the menu.
Sheryl was generous and easygoing. She didn't say anything even when they ordered something expensive.
They had a good time that night. Sheryl seemed to have forgotten about Charles. However, as soon as Cassie and Nick left, she grew silent.
Isla drove Sheryl home. During the car ride, Isla remained silent too. When they arrived home, Isla asked, "How long can you wait for Charles?"
"What?" All of a sudden, Sheryl's face turned red, and she kept avoiding Isla's gaze.
"Even if you don't say anything to us, I still know that you're just pretending. I know you can't forget about him." Isla looked at Sheryl with a serious expression.
Sheryl knew that Isla was just worried about her. She forced a smile as she held Isla's hand. "Isla, I know you're worried about me, but I have two children. They're my priority."
Isla didn't know what to make of this.
"All right. I believe you, but don't lie to me. Otherwise, you know I'm willing to do anything even if that means fighting Charles." After their conversation, Isla drove back home. Sheryl finally relaxed when Isla had finally driven away. She went upstairs to check on the children and found that they were already asleep. She tearfully said, "I'm so sorry." She then kissed each of her kid's foreheads before heading back to her own bedroom.
That night, Sheryl's mind was racing, so she wasn't able to get enough sleep.
Of course, Melissa had a fitful sleep too.
In Dream Garden
That night, the Dream Garden was very quiet. Charles didn't come back. Only Nancy and Melissa were there.
Melissa told Nancy she could rest since there was nothing left to do anymore. Meanwhile, she stayed out on the balcony, drinking a bottle of wine. Soon, she felt sleepy.
However, she didn't fall sleep. She felt as if she was seeing a white mist in front of her.
When she walked through the mist, she saw a group of men following a boy.
She didn't care at first until she saw the boy's face.
It was her grandson, Clark. She hadn't seen him in so long.
"Who are you? Let Clark go! Please..." Melissa shouted as she started to run, trying to catch up with them.
But it seemed as if they couldn't hear her.
Melissa was worried. She tried to run faster, but she still couldn't keep up with them.
She could feel that the man was dangerous. He was going to kill Clark. She shook her head and started to shout, "No, no! Please don't!"
After she'd screamed, she woke up and realized it was just a dream.
She was finally able to relax. Clark was safe. It was just a dream.
Melissa realized how much she really missed her grandchildren.
Then she went back to sleep.
At the hospital
Charles had stayed at the hospital yesterday. It wasn't because he wanted to but rather because Vicky had drugged him.
Vicky had forced Charles to have dinner with her. Apparently, she had drugged Charles's dinner, which made him fall fast asleep as soon as he finished eating.
She was just about to make a move on Charles when David entered the room.
He couldn't wake Charles up, so he decided to stay. He wasn't suspicious of Vicky or anything because he knew how tired Charles could be.
David knew what Charles was probably thinking, so he refused to leave him alone.
"David, it's getting late. You can go home now. I can take care of Charles." Vicky just wanted David to leave. As long as David was there, she couldn't continue with her plan.
