The Apple of My Eye -
Chapter 2063 Hey! Stop!
Charles turned to look at Melissa to explain himself. However, he was taken aback at seeing how angry Melissa was.
"Mom, I know I should go see the kids. I want to do that. I want to see the kids, but I just can't," Charles explained, clearing his throat.
Melissa noticed the helplessness on Charles' face. She'd never seen Charles like that. Even after all he'd been through, he never faltered as he was the type of person who never gave up. However, it seemed as if Charles had no choice but to do this because of Vicky.
"Is it because of Vicky? Is she still bothering you? Well, let me deal with her! I can probably get through to her. You know, woman to woman. Just now, she came here trying to see you, but I was able to drive her away. She really is annoying, isn't she?" Melissa said as she gazed at her son. The strange look on her son's face worried her. She just wanted to help her son.
This time, she just wanted to be of help to her son. She couldn't help but long to see Charles and Sheryl get back together too.
Melissa's insides turned upon realizing how insistent Vicky really was, especially having intertwined herself in Charles' life. She couldn't stand the idea that Charles would lose Sheryl forever. She figured if Vicky continued to have her way, then Sheryl and Charles might never get back together.
"What? Vicky came here?" Charles asked, frowning. He was in disbelief as he had no idea that Vicky had come here. He couldn't help but be annoyed that Vicky would visit his home without his permission. Melissa noticed the shift in Charles' face. She thought Charles at least knew. Still, she wasn't very polite to Vicky when she was here. She was even worried at first that Charles might get mad at her for treating Vicky like that. However, she realized that there was no way that Charles would do that as even Charles seemed disgusted with Vicky. Angrily, she said, "Yes, she was here. She said she needed to see you. She had no manners. I was so angry that I asked her to leave. I dislike that woman! I hate her!"
Still, Melissa didn't let her anger get in the way this time. Melissa knew what kind of person Vicky was. She wouldn't get trapped by that woman anymore. As much as she wanted to get back at Vicky as soon as possible, she knew she had to be smart and take a step back first before doing anything. She didn't want to cause Charles any more trouble too.
"Okay, I get it. And thanks, Mom. Thanks for telling me. You should rest. We can talk about seeing the kids again next time." Charles was too exhausted from everything that had been happening in his life to worry about anything else. He needed to focus on his own plans; instead of being distracted.
The impatience that flashed across Charles' eyes didn't slip by Melissa. Sighing, she just reminded Charles to take care.
Charles then excused himself, so he could go to his study, leaving Melissa alone.
Melissa then realized that Charles had been spending his nights in the study; instead of his room. She couldn't help but be concerned.
"Charles, you said you were going to handle Vicky, but it seems as if you need help." Melissa couldn't understand why Charles had taken so long to deal with Vicky. She thought Charles would get rid of her, bu it seemed as if he'd gotten himself stuck with her.
Meanwhile, in the study, Charles couldn't put his mind at rest. He missed Sheryl very much. He kept gazing at his phone. He was thinking of calling Sheryl as he realized that it had been a while since they last talked. He could probably use the kids as an excuse to talk.
He went back and forth until he finally decided he was going to do it. However, before he could even dial Sheryl's a number, a message from an unknown number popped up.
With a frown, Charles clicked to open the message. Immediately, he frowned upon reading the message.
The message was a photo. Charles was glaring at his phone screen now.
The photo was of Sheryl seemingly hugging a man. She looked happy, and it stung Charles' heart.
The photo came with a message that read, "Look! Sheryl's ready for a steamy night with mystery man! Check out the hotel's location here..."
Charles tensed at once. This confirmed what Vicky had said. The bitter truth was hard to swallow. Blinded by his rage, he stormed out of Dream Garden.
Charles made a big commotion as he stumbled his way out, and that alarmed Melissa. She got out of her bedroom, only to see Charles' figure disappearing out the door.
"What happened? Where is Charles going? And why is he in such a hurry?" Melissa asked as she turned to Nancy.
"Madam, I was surprised too. I wanted to ask him, but he was too fast. Must be something with work. Don't worry. I think Mr. Lu's fine." Nancy had no idea what was going on as Charles had moved very quickly. However, this wasn't the first time that she had seen Charles like this, so she assumed everything was fine.
"Okay, then I should probably go back to sleep. I've been feeling exhausted these past few days." Melissa nodded her head, sighing helplessly before heading back to her bedroom.
Still a bit worried, Nancy wanted to be sure that Charles was fine, so she decided to call David.
David quickly answered. He said, "Hello, Nancy. What's up?"
"It's about Mr. Lu. He was acting a little weird just now. He hurried out of the house without saying anything. Do you know what's going on? Melissa's also worried. I just told her that it must have something to do with work. I just thought you should know, and that's why I called you," Nancy explained.
"Okay, thanks for telling me, Nancy. I'll call you as soon as I know what's going on." David quickly hung up the phone, lost in his thoughts. He wondered why Charles wouldn't call him before he did anything. Frowning, he suddenly realized it must have something to do with Sheryl.
As he thought of this, he dialed Charles' number.
"Mr. Lu, where are you..."
Before David could finish his sentence, Charles interrupted him. "David, I need you to go to this hotel right away. It's the hotel near..."
Charles hung up the call after he'd told David the address.
David didn't know what Charles' intention was. He could tell it was urgent based on Charles' tone.
Charles couldn't relax even for a while. The thought of Sheryl spending the night with another man at a hotel pained him. He needed to replace her and stop her.
Charles couldn't afford to lose her. He couldn't let Sheryl be with someone else that wasn't him. He didn't care if Sheryl really was with another man. He just had to stop it. That was the only way he was going to relax.
As time passed by, the more paranoid Charles became. He almost felt as if his heart was going to pump out of his chest. The only thing on his mind was that he needed to get to the hotel as soon as possible. David and Charles reached the hotel at almost the same time. Then they worked together to figure out what room Sheryl was in.
In the hotel
Damian came back from the bathroom. He had washed his face with cold water, trying to calm himself. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath before he walked toward Sheryl. But his face froze once he opened his eyes again. Sheryl was lying on the bed, nearly naked. She felt a surge of burning through her throat and her body, so she had stripped down to her underwear. At the sight, Damian felt turned on at once, especially since Sheryl was running her hands all over her body. Damian saw this as his chance. He wanted to do what his loins were telling him to.
"Water, I want to drink water..."
Damian was so dumbfounded for a moment that he didn't realize right away that Sheryl was murmuring something. He quickly fetched a glass of water. He then helped Sheryl sit up so she could drink water. After drinking, Sheryl seemed relieved. Then she held Damian's arm tightly and snuggled up to his chest.
Damian couldn't continue to ignore it. Now he was struggling in his head. He felt torn, as part of him wanted to be a decent person, and the other part was telling him to be a monster. He couldn't deny the voice in his head that told him to be a monster. He'd always liked Sheryl. Hesitating, he started to run his fingers along her face. Slowly, he put Sheryl on the bed so that she was lying down. He was ready. He was going to do this, even though Sheryl was unconscious.
At that very moment, Charles broke into the room.
The loud noise of someone kicking open the door shocked Damian. He immediately looked back to see what was happening.
Damian and Charles' eyes locked the moment they looked at each other.
Charles' eyes were burning with fury. Damian felt threatened, and he couldn't help but shiver a little.
"Hey! Stop!" Charles shouted as he rushed toward Damian and pushed him to the ground. What Damian was doing to Sheryl was obvious, and he couldn't let Damian get any closer to Sheryl. Before Damian could stand up, Charles strode over to him and started beating him up.
Charles didn't stop until Damian was completely beaten up. He sneered as he watched Damian squirm in pain. Then Charles picked Sheryl up in his arms and left.
