The Apple of My Eye
Chapter 328 Have A Love Affair Stealthily With Another Man

However, she never once expected that the Giant Promise Company would come forward to protect Autumn in such a big manner, and this shocked her.

Edward shook his head helplessly as he glanced at Rachel; he knew nothing good would come out of looking into it anymore. He had no other way to turn so he let out a weak sigh.

Rachel didn't dare to offend Edward at this point. Once she found that he had calmed down, she began acting like a brat. "I am so sorry. I didn't mean for something like this to happen. Had I known this would happen, I would have postponed the renovation. I just didn't expect such consequences, " Rachel said with an apologetic look.

However, her words failed to move Edward, so she had to make persistent efforts to convince him. "I am sorry, Edward. This is all my mistake. It is the first time I have taken such a big responsibility to manage such a huge hotel and I just wanted everything to be perfect, but... I really didn't expect to mess it up in this manner. I really did try my very best."

She suddenly burst into tears as she spoke. After a small pause, Rachel went on, "I didn't think it would get so serious. There should have been time to take some precautionary steps, but... I was busy preparing for our wedding and it distracted me from the business. I told Miss Ye to slow down and drop the haste, but she declined my suggestion."

"Miss Ye? Who are you talking about?" The moment he heard this from Rachel, Edward felt things falling into shape.

Rachel looked up at Edward with a pitiful look, as her eyes glistened with tears. "I mean Autumn, Charles' wife."

She now found a new motive and determination which was to blame Autumn. "Perhaps it is because I am Charles' ex-girlfriend, and it always does seem like she is against me. I explained it to her many times that Charles and I had nothing now, but she just turned a deaf ear towards everything I ever said."

She said as tears kept trickling down her cheeks which began to annoy Edward. "Stop crying. Enough with the melodrama, " Edward interrupted her impatiently.

"There is no use of crying now," he said with a sigh.

"Edward... Do you still blame me for how things went down?" As she wiped her tears away, Rachel asked in a shaky voice as she stared at Edward.

He took a big breath and then began speaking, "There is no use of blaming you now that everything has happened. But you have to remember that no matter what you are going to do, you have to be careful and be aware that everything has consequences. Don't do this again, okay?"

"I understand that and I will never ever commit such a mistake again." Rachel replied in a soft voice, as she gradually fell into Edward's arms and added, "Edward, I will ask for your approval before every decision I make and consult you when I conceive new ideas. And I promise I won't be so hasty again. I am so sorry. Please forgive me."

However, Edward was not relieved after hearing her words, instead he furrowed his brow and said to Rachel, "Were you not about to prepare breakfast? Please go ahead. I need some space to calm down now. Don't cry anymore."

Slowly, Rachel sat up upon hearing his cold response. "Edward, wait." She stopped Edward who was about to leave. "I have something to discuss with you. I have been worried about it for quite sometime, she added.

"What is this about? Is something wrong?" Confused and also worried, Edward asked her.

"You know that Chris is a simple girl, but now she lives with Autumn. They literally spend the entire day together. I fear that under Autumn's company she may be spoiled. So I think it is better in her interest to ask her again to consider living with us, after all we are a family. What do you think?" Rachel said calmly, but indeed, she was still very furious since the moment Chris took property from Edward yesterday. She hoped Chris would come back to live with them, but it was not because she really cared about her, but instead what she really wanted was to drive a wedge between Edward and Chris. This would be a easy for Rachel as long as Chris didn't get any help from Autumn.

"But..." After hearing Rachel's suggestion, Edward turned hesitant as he actually considered it. But he did not agree with what she said since he thought Autumn was not a scheming woman.

"Edward, you may have noticed too that Autumn detests me," said Rachel who continued to persuade him. "With that said, I am sure she will try to cast a shadow between Chris and me. But Chris is a part of our family and I really don't want her to bear a grudge on me like Autumn does."

"This is not the right time to talk about this." Edward looked very impatient.

"Edward, but..." Rachel grabbed his sleeves as she could not accept failure. "Edward, please sleep on it and don't just dismiss me. Now that Chris is spending all that time with Autumn, she even asked to divide your property yesterday. It must have been Autumn who asked her to do so. If she goes on like this, won't you be handing over all your possessions to her without even as much as getting to know her?" Rachel was so anxious that she was not subtle as she said all of that. Edward looked at her with a baffled expression and asked, "Do you really mind what I said at our wedding yesterday?"

However, Rachel was too anxious to comprehend his mood swings. "Of course, Edward. We are married now and I am your wife. This is our common property now. I cannot stand by while give it to others for no reason."

"Others?" Edward burst into sneer as he replied in a harsh and cold tone, "This so called others you mentioned is my daughter, and don't ever forget that. She is my own and only flesh and blood in this entire world and I would do anything for her."

"I..." It was only then that Rachel realized that she had said something terribly wrong. Ambushed, Rachel hastily tried to explain herself, "Edward, you misunderstood me. That's not what I meant. I just think that we also have to manage our life, but now you have given almost half of your property to Chris. What will we live on?"

Upon hearing this, Edward laughed grimly. "Rachel, that is my property and I can give it to anyone. It is none of your business and it will never concern you. You are in no position to doubt my decision. I know exactly what I am doing. You better remain within your limit, " Edward said harshly.

He turned to leave after he finished speaking his mind without looking back, leaving Rachel alone there as she was.

Time would tell a true friend from a false one. Though Edward was unable to certain what kind of a person she was, he was sure that he would replace out sooner rather than later if they kept their marriage going. Squinting, Rachel felt that everything had changed for the worse so soon after their grand wedding. It only led to her hatred towards Autumn to intensify.

But now that she had said those words, Rachel was unable to fix this. She had an appointment in the afternoon and it was already time for her to leave.

She went back into her bedroom, and changed her clothes. As she was about to leave, she saw Edward sitting on the couch, reading a newspaper. He even didn't take a look at Rachel as she went out. They just got married yesterday, but now he had turned so indifferent to her which seemed to ridiculous.

Seeing this, Rachel stepped towards Edward and said in a soft voice, "Edward, I have some work to do and I need to go out for a film shooting now. But I will be back for dinner with you, okay?" "Em, sure," he replied without a shard of emotion.

After she got his uninterested approval, Rachel turned to leave. She drove to a hotel, looking around carefully before entering the building to ensure no one was following her. After she got out of the car, she rushed to a room.

She rang the doorbell and soon the door swung open for her. A strong arm stretched out, pulled her in and closed the door immediately leaving an empty hallway behind them.

Rachel giggled as her slim waist was grabbed by the man. "Keep your pants on! Let me catch my breath for a moment, ' Rachel said in a bashful and flirty tone.

"Honey, I missed you so much. We haven't seen each other in days," said the man. He was dressed in a bathrobe; one could peak at his chiseled upper body naked through the opening. The man had a rather muscular, strong and defined body. He was also a famous star in the entertainment circle. After kissing Rachel's neck, he was unable to hold off his urges while Rachel just enjoyed his kiss with her eyes closed.
