Chapter 202 I’ll Give You the Courage
Elias’ headache worsened as he listened to the discussions around him. He turned to look at abodywood and ordered, “Get him out of here!
“Yes”
With that, Oscar was lugged away from the funeral by the bodyguard He bellowed at Elies, “Is this hereyou repay Old Mr. Winters for doting on you? His cause of death is still not identified, so how condd youbury him without getting to the culprit first? Don’t you think about why he rolled down the stairs all edsudden? How are you supposed to lead the Winters Family? All his love for you was for nothing”
Oscar’s harsh words deeply hurt Elias. How was it possible that Howard’s love for his grandson was allfor nothing? Elias wouldn’t let the cause of his grandfather’s death remain a mystery forever, but hewas afraid that if he looked into the matter, Amanda might turn out to be the culprit.
He knew that he shouldn’t doubt Amanda, but the incident was too coincidental. Although his rationalmind told him he should get to the truth, his instincts told him he should trust Amanda uncondition
Faced with the older man’s accusation, Amanda looked around and realized everyone was glancing ather in a way as if she was indeed the murderer.
If she didn’t make herself clear, everyone in Imperia would get wind of the rumor that she had killed.Howard by the very same night. She turned to look at Elias and said, “You have to get to the truth sothứ Old Mr. Winters will truly be at peace in heaven, and idl also prove my innocence. Since I’ve donenothing wrong, I’m not afraid of anyone looking into the matter
With that, she left the funeral with her child. Elias was startled for a moment before feeling ashamedthat he even doubted Amanda in the first place,
He had repeatedly told himself that he had to trust the woman, but still, he couldn’t help but suspectthat she might have killed his grandfather.
Behind the door, Grace had been hiding the entire time. When she saw what was going on, she wasanxious. If Elias looked into the matter, he might replace some traces and get to her.
I can’t let that happen! I have to twist the evidence so that it’ll point to Amanda! Moreover, she’s theprime suspect now, for she was the one who discovered Old Mr. Winters’ death.
As a sinister glint flashed across Grace’s eyes, she turned around and muttered, “Don’t blame me forbeing ruthless, Amanda. You were unlucky to be present at the scene at that time.”
Rain was pouring down on the cemetery. The clouds appeared so heavy that it was as if the sky wasabout to come crashing down. One would feel depressed just by staying under such weatherconditions.
Elias held a black umbrella and stood in front of Howard’s grave while looking at his photo. He hadbeen standing in the rain for a long time.
Somewhere near him, Yacob had been keeping him company with an umbrella. He had been Eliassubordinate for years, so he understood his temperament very well. Elias didn’t need any consolationat that moment. As a subordinate, he just had to stay by his side in silence.
Elias had to sort out his emotions, and no one except himself could do that.
While standing in front of Howard’s grave and glancing at his photo, Elias finally said, “I have to takemy leave, Grandpa. I can’t keep you company anymore, for I have to deal with many things. I have toreplace out the truth of your death and manage Winters Enterprise. By the way, I’ve sent my mom back tothe nursing home. I hope you won’t blame me for it. She’ll be better off staying there, and it’s a way ofprotecting her as well.”
Regardless of what Elias said, the hot-tempered Howard would never reply to him again. Only theendless silence and the sounds of pouring rain responded to him.
Elias felt his heart getting twisted. He was in so much pain that he could no longer say anything.Despite
young age, he had experienced the pain of losing the people closest to him twice.

After standing in front of the grave for a while longer, he said, “I’ll visit you again.”
Then, he turned around and left. When he passed by his father’s grave, he couldn’t help but let out alaugh, for he found everything laughable and ridiculous.
He didn’t believe that curses existed in this world, but there was no way it was a coincidence that herepeatedly lost his family members.
He wondered if his grandfather and father would reunite in the other world.
After his father passed away, Howard always said he dreamed of his son and missed him very much.
When Yacob saw Elias leaving, he quickly followed him. “Where are we going now, Mr. Winters?”
“To the club.”
“Are you going to meet up with anyone?” Yacob was instantly ready to get to work, thinking that Eliaswas going to look into the cause of Howard’s death.
Much to his surprise, Elias replied impassively, I’m going to drink.”
What?! Yacob was startled, thinking that he had misheard him. Hasn’t he pulled himself togetheralready? Why is he going to drink again?
Yacob let out a cough. Although he knew he shouldn’t interfere in Elias’ affairs, he had a duty to givehim a reminder in such a situation.
“Mr. Winters… After Old Mr. Winters passed away, the board of directors practically became a mess. All of them want to get more power for themselves. As such, you have to pull yourself together. If youstill go to the club and drink, all of your shares will be snatched from you. When Old Mr. Winters seesthat in heaven, he’ll be mad.”
Upon finishing his words, Yacob realized he had crossed the line. “I’m sorry, Mr. Winters…”
Elias stopped in his tracks and shot Yacob a look before saying, “Do you think I’m oblivious to thethings. you already know? Yes, I’m going to the club to drink, but I’m not trying to get myself drunk. I’mgoing to retrieve my grandfather’s shares.”
He had been dejected for a few days. During that period, his aunt Anna snatched Howard’s shares andeven partnered up with the lawyer to alter the will.
Although he had been doing nothing, it didn’t mean he wasn’t aware of what was going on. In the pastfew days, Anna had been boasting that Howard loved her the most and even gave her all the shares.Everyone was puzzled as to why such a thing even happened.
Yacob said with a smile, “Way to go, Mr. Winters! You have no idea how haughty your aunt has beenover the past few days. Not only has she pulled a dirty trick to snatch all the shares, but she has alsobeen spreading rumors about you.”
While walking forward, Elias asked, “What has she been saying about me?”
“She…” Yacob didn’t have the nerve to tell him about it, for the woman’s words were too mean.
“I’ll give you the courage. Tell me everything.”
Yacob cleared his throat and told him about the rumors Anna had been spreading. “She said you mightnot be your father’s son, which was why Old Mr. Winters wasn’t willing to give you the shares. He hadbeen doting on you just to put on a show for the outsiders. She also claimed that you were a jinx. Yourfather and grandfather passed away because of you. Also-
Elias bellowed, “Enough! Say no more!”
Anna had been spreading false rumors about Elias as if he was a monster. If she wasn’t taught alesson, she would likely kick Elias out of the board of directors.
When Howard was still around, Anna had been complaining that he was partial toward Jensly andElias. Now that he passed away, she started fabricating rumors.
After Elias got into the car, he said, “Go to the club now and tell my good-for-nothing cousin to comeand
see me.”
“Yes.” Yacob got into the driver’s seat and drove the car out of the cemetery.
