Chapter 206 A Divorcee

“Mr. Winters, why aren’t you keeping Aiden company tonight? Since you’ve just reunited with him,you’re supposed to spend more time with him.”

When Yacob caught sight of Elias’ sharp gaze through the rearview mirror, he kept his mouth shut,knowing he shouldn’t be such a busybody.

Instead of replying to him, Elias looked out the window with a hint of dejection behind his gaze. Hecouldn’t help but put on a self-mocking smile.

Perhaps I’ve demanded too much from a three-year-old kid. He needs more time to digest this kind ofmatter.

Since Aiden was aware that Elias was his father, that was enough. Elias decided to let nature take itscourse. When he was done retrieving all his shares, he would make more time for his son.

Elias slept over in his office. The next day, he freshened up and headed straight to Jack’s house. Sincehe needed the older man’s help, he couldn’t afford to be negligent.

When he arrived at the Allegra Villa, the butler invited him to have a seat in the living room. After Eliaswas served coffee, he started waiting for Jack.

He had woken up early to show Jack that he was sincere.

Since the matter of getting back his shares was of utmost importance, he had to be meticulous ineverything he did.

In the past few days, he had been relying on lots of coffee to keep him awake.

Just then, he heard a series of footsteps from behind, but he reckoned the person wasn’t Jack becauseit sounded like the footsteps of a woman. Moreover, she was stealthy.

Elias pretended not to notice her presence and continued drinking coffee. When the woman was closeenough to him, she was ready to scare him. Much to her surprise, the man turned his head all of asudden, causing her to exclaim in shock.

“Ah!”

Elias took a look at the woman and reckoned that she was in her early twenties. She was beautiful, andthe way she carried herself showed that she was a wealthy young lady.

Is she Jack’s daughter, Stephanie?

“Why did you scare me? I almost jumped out of my skin!” Stephanie covered her chest. She was soshocked that her face turned pale.

Elias put down his cup and refuted impassively, “You wouldn’t have been shocked if you hadn’t tried to

scare me.”

Stephanie snorted and sat down on the couch across from him before examining the man.

Is he Elias Winters, the man my father wants me to marry? I heard Elias was an ugly man with a badtemper, but this man looked nothing like it.

When she finally made out the man’s face, she fell into a dazed state. He was the most handsome manshe had ever seen. Despite the fact that he sported an impassive expression, his face was chiseledand attractive.

I didn’t expect Elias Winters to look like this…

Jack came down the stairs just then. “Why are you so early, Elias? I just woke up.” Jack came overslowly. When he caught sight of his daughter, he was surprised. “Why are you here, Steph?”

Elias rose from the couch and asked, “Mr. Allegra, didn’t you tell me your daughter would be comingback tomorrow?”

“I did, but I didn’t expect she’d come back in advance last night. She said she wanted to give me asurprise. Elias put on a faint smile without saying anything else.

“Have a seat. Steph, come and sit down beside me. There’s something I need to talk to you about.”Jack took his daughter’s hand and sat down on the couch across from Elias.

“Steph, I’ve decided that you and Elias will get engaged next month, and the wedding will be held bythe end of the year. Don’t go anywhere else. Just stay here and get prepared for your wedding-

Before he even finished his words, Stephanie stood up straight in fury and bellowed, “Dad! How couldyou make such an important decision for me without my permission? I told you there’s a man I love. Iwon’t

marry anyone else!”

Elias only looked at them with a smile and continued having his now-not-so-warm coffee.

It’s great that she doesn’t want to marry me. I don’t want to marry her either.

It would be best if the woman could successfully dissuade her father. In that case, not only could Eliasget back his shares, but he also didn’t have to marry the woman.

He had nothing against Stephanie, but he just found her to be noisy. He got a headache just bylistening to

her.

If he married such a woman, he would be frustrated every day.

Jack took a look at Elias before making Stephanie sit back down on the couch. “I don’t care. You haveto marry Elias. Your taste for men is terrible. How could you replace a poor man to snatch my wealth? I’vebeen working hard all my life, so I’m not going to pass on everything to a poor man like him. No waythat’s going to happen!”

“You’re so unreasonable, Dad! I told you Crisp isn’t that kind of person. We can sign a prenuptialagreement. He’s not after our wealth!”

Stephanie believed that she had found the right man. However, Jack had been in the business worldfor years, so he could easily see through Crispin’s mind.

“Elias is way better than Crispin. Why don’t you try spending time with him? You’ll soon realize thatCrispin isn’t worth your time.”

“No! No one is comparable to Crisp. Why would I marry a divorcee? I don’t want him!”

Stephanie glanced at Elias with disdain.

A divorcee?

Elias couldn’t help but smile when he heard that. It was the first time anyone ever called him adivorcee.

With an awkward expression, Jack said, “Please forgive her, Elias. She’s still a willful young woman…”

“That’s fine. Since she’s still very young, I’m sure she didn’t say it intentionally.” Elias didn’t mindanyone calling him a divorcee, for that was the truth. Not only was he a divorcee, but he was also a

father to a child.

For the next 30 minutes, he watched the father and daughter arguing with each other. Jack made timeto talk about business-related matters with Elias before the latter left. He even made Stephanie see himoff.

A displeased Stephanie walked alongside him and hissed, “Don’t even dream about marrying me, Mr.Winters. I will never marry you. There’s a man I love, and I’ll spend the rest of my life with him.”

“Then you have to try harder to make a fuss, Miss Allegra. This kind of intensity can’t make call off theengagement.”

Stephanie was dumbfounded upon hearing that, thinking that she had misheard him. Why did he evensay that? Doesn’t he want to marry me?

“What do you mean?”

Elias stopped in his tracks and glanced dispassionately at her. “I’m not only a divorcee, but I also havea three-year-old son. If you don’t want to be a stepmother, kick up a bigger storm. Otherwise, you’llhave no choice but to marry me.”

With that, he turned around and left, leaving Stephanie in shock.

What?! Not only is he a divorcee, but he also has a three-year-old son! Is my dad out of his mind? Howcould he make me become someone else’s stepmother? No! There’s no way I’ll allow that to happen!

She immediately returned to the living room, ready to argue with her father again. There was no wayshe would become a child’s stepmother.
