THE BILLIONAIRE IS INFATUATED WITH HIS EX-LOVER -
Chapter 14: Mr. Roberts and Leon's conversation
Today, Mr. Roberts arrived at the company exceptionally early. After receiving instructions from the boss, Mr. Scott immediately departed, suggesting they were plotting something of great significance.
Having lived to his age, Mr. Roberts had weathered all manner of ups and downs. Still, this time, he faced a delicate challenge: safeguarding the company's reputation without causing his daughter any distress. Sara had been motherless since childhood, and he feared this situation might deepen her sorrow.
For years, Mr. Roberts tried to compensate for the emotional gap in his daughter's life, but unfortunately, Sara had yet to understand her father truly. If this matter was not handled well, it could only exacerbate their conflict.
Mr. Scott brought Mr. Roberts to a restaurant by noon to meet an important client. Upon entering, Mr. Roberts was already displeased. Opposite him sat a young and successful businessman whose demeanor and poise were sophisticated and aloof, as if this meeting was between two rivals bound by fate.
The tension between them was palpable. Mr. Roberts was surprised to see the once poor young man had become a significant business owner, while the young man was curious about what Mr. Roberts thought of him now. "It's been a while since we've met. You seem to be doing better than I anticipated," Mr. Roberts taunted.
"I hope I haven't disappointed you," Leon replied with a mocking smile.
"However, today, I might be the one to disappoint you. I'm here to discuss your situation with Sara. My daughter has a new boyfriend, so I'd appreciate your stopping following her around." Mr. Roberts deliberately provoked Leon, believing he still harbored feelings for her and seized this opportunity to deliver a devastating blow, hoping to dissuade Leon from pursuing her further.
"Chasing after your daughter, you say? Your Roberts family's imagination truly knows no bounds, both father and daughter alike. I am now the owner of a major corporation. Do you know how many beautiful, talented, and wealthy women are lining up, waiting for me to choose them? Why would I bother with a mere Sara?" Leon tapped his fingers provocatively on the polished table surface. Now a billionaire, Leon lacked for nothing but was rich in confidence, his demeanor increasingly reflecting that of a significant business owner.
Mr. Roberts, catching a glimpse of the Rolex on Leon's wrist, understood that such stature wasn't naturally acquired but stemmed from an inner conviction. However, for a seasoned man like Mr. Roberts, there was no type of person he hadn't encountered before.
"If you're not following her around, why did you agree to have her work at LT and even arrange for her to be your secretary?"
"She wanted it that way."
"Then why didn't you stop her? It's your company; anyone who wants to work there needs your permission. Don't tell me you can't manage your own company." Mr. Vũ Kiên retorted sharply, his gaze piercing as if to skewer Leon. "You should remember that you sent her to me in the first place. Why are you blaming me now? You're the one with the ulterior motives," Leon's insinuating gaze only fueled Mr. Roberts's anger.
"You!... Stop lurking around like a hungry tiger, stalking the girl incessantly." Mr. Roberts threw photos of Sara and Henry happily together, with Leon staring intently behind them.
"Well, I have some good news for you. Sara is pregnant and will soon marry the man she loves, so don't get your hopes up any longer." Mr. Roberts smiled triumphantly, having just delivered a painful blow to Leon.
"Is it fun to get pregnant when you're not married? Your Roberts family truly has unusual tastes. Let's hope the man doesn't flee, or the Robert family won't know where to hide their faces." Leon sneered disdainfully.
"Leon, I had thought you were kind and honest, but it turns out you're just evil with your words. No matter what schemes you deploy, you can't alter the situation," Mr. Robert couldn't sugarcoat his criticism towards Leon.
"Which of your ears heard that I wanted to return with Sara? From start to finish, you're delusional. You're old now; you should rest more. Too much fantasy isn't good for your health. Let me tell you, since the day I decided to leave, I've had no feelings for your daughter anymore." Leon once again affirmed he neither clung to nor regretted a love that was now in the past. Sara was just that-a past chapter.
"I believe you this time, hoping my trust isn't misplaced."
As Leon left, Mr. Scott entered, and Mr. Robert murmured, "It seems he's not the child's father, or he wouldn't deny it so adamantly."
"But that's good. This worry will be resolved once Ms Sara is married," Mr. Scott whispered.
"Right, the wedding must be arranged quickly before her belly grows too large, which would be inconvenient. Arrange a meeting for me with that young man; I have something to discuss with him."
Mr. Robert had carefully considered that this marriage would benefit the Robert family and pose no harm. The Russell family, wealthy and powerful, could support him and his daughter, making it difficult for Leon to cause any trouble in the future.
This wasn't just about marrying off his daughter but the family's future, a legacy. The Russell family was notoriously demanding, and Sara was headstrong, which worried Mr. Roberts greatly. Yet, he reconsidered, knowing his daughter carried the Russell family's bloodline-they couldn't ignore it.
