The Billionaire Who Stole My Heart (Brittany and Isaac) -
Chapter 1028
"You're a cop, not a bandit!"
"You can't pass judgment without solid evidence!"
And let's not forget, that girl is Yuri's daughter.
Would they even survive if they crossed him?
The young officer's eyes blazed with fury: "You're just scared of crossing the Lynette family!"
With those harsh words, he stormed off.
Brittany, overhearing the argument, felt nothing but exhaustion.
The police had no substantial evidence, and Yuri, with his lawyer in tow, marched straight to the police station after seventy-two hours had elapsed. Brittany was taken back to the Lynette Manor.
The police said she needed to be available for the investigation and couldn't leave Craneville for the time being.
Brittany agreed.
Back at Lynette Manor, she rushed to the bathroom for a hot shower and slept soundly for the first time in days.
She had spent three whole days at the station-eating and drinking weren't issues, but her sleep there had been far from restful.
Back in the Lynette household, it took her a full day and night of sleep to reset her haywire biological clock.
When Saskia heard Brittany was back, she arrived, albeit belatedly.
"Why are you here?"
Yuri was puzzled; Saskia and Brittany had always had a somewhat distant relationship. Why come back at such a critical moment?
"I was worried about Bri, came to check on her."
Yuri's scrutinizing gaze made Saskia's skin crawl, making her want to dodge his look.
"She's still asleep. Maybe later," Yuri said, just as Saskia felt she couldn't take the pressure anymore.
"Alright."
Saskia's appearance stirred something in Brittany.
After waking up and freshening up, she descended the stairs.
"Mom."
Daniel, just home from school, hurried over: "Mom, when did you wake up?"
He had wanted to see Brittany since she got back but was stopped by Yuri.
His mind had been on Brittany all day.
Brittany crouched down: "Just woke up."
Daniel hugged her neck, nuzzling into her embrace: "Mom, I missed you. Can I tell you a story tonight?"
Brittany couldn't help but smile, pinching his sweaty cheek.
"Did you play sports this afternoon?"
"Yep, golf."
Yuri had chosen the best school in Craneville for Daniel, aiming to cultivate a well-rounded elite, excelling in academics, sports, arts, and more.
"Then you better go take a shower; dinner will be ready soon."
Daniel planted a kiss on Brittany's cheek and dashed off.
Saskia, witnessing this, felt a pang of jealousy.
It was just a son; what was there to show off?
She had one too!
Brittany greeted Saskia and poured herself a glass of warm water.
"Bri, I've heard about what happened. Are you okay?" Saskia asked, concern in her eyes. "The whole thing blew up big. Dad had to pull some strings to keep the news quiet. You can't let something like this happen again." Brittany paused in her sip, puzzled. She hadn't done anything, yet according to Saskia, it was all her fault?
"I didn't do anything."
Brittany faced Saskia. "There's something wrong with what you're saying."
Saskia's smile froze, and after a long moment, she stammered, "Bri, I didn't mean it like that—"
