The Billionaire Who Stole My Heart (Brittany and Isaac) -
Chapter 1043
"Ugh-" Brittany sensed his impatience as she wrapped her arms around his neck, planting a conciliatory kiss on his lips. Even in the pitch darkness, she could feel Isaac's irritation.
"I bumped into Willard by chance."
She didn't even like Willard.
Isaac was worrying over nothing.
Isaac knew she didn't like Willard, but that didn't stop his jealousy, "Try to stay away from Willard from now on!"
Brittany obediently nodded: "I've missed you so much."
Waking up to replace Isaac gone that morning left her feeling unexpectedly forlorn.
They were supposed to be inseparable.
Isaac's heart softened at her words, loosening his hold slightly as a fierce longing ignited within him: "Just wait a bit longer, we'll be able to go home soon."
He and Elijah had vowed to clear the Ulbricht family's name.
Once that was done, he could reveal his true identity, and then, he could openly be with Brittany.
Brittany, not wanting to blame him, leaned against his chest: "So, when will we see each other next?"
She didn't even have his contact information.
It wasn't that Isaac didn't want to stay in touch; he simply didn't want to drag her down: "Just wait a bit longer."
Brittany, disheartened, felt her eyes well up slightly.
Isaac bent down to kiss her in the darkness, replaceing her lips with unerring accuracy, whispering soothingly: "I'll come to see you whenever I can."
Brittany knew he was doing his best, her hands clutching at his shirt, eager: "Okay."
Their kiss lingered in the darkness, and after a moment, Isaac reluctantly pulled away, his warm fingertips tracing her lips: "I've got to deal with something tonight. Head back early, have the Lynette family pick you up, and be careful on your way." He paused: "My contact is..."
"If you need me, just message, though I might not always reply."
Brittany felt a wave of sweetness, nodding: "Okay."
Isaac looked at her affectionate demeanor, wishing he could keep her close, yet he had to restrain himself.
After he left, Brittany made her way to the restroom.
Their recent embrace had left her cheeks burning, a sensation that took a while to subside. Turning around, she saw Saskia standing not too far away.
"Brittany, kicking me out of the Lynette family must make you feel pretty smug, huh?"
Brittany thought she was delusional: "Saskia, you brought it on yourself."
"Brittany, if I had known your return would cost me everything, I would have " Saskia stopped herself mid-sentence, huffing in frustration: "Brittany, I'll be waiting to see what end you come to!" Brittany watched her retreating back, puzzled.
What did she mean by that?
Was there some past between her and Saskia she was unaware of?
Returning to the party, Brittany caught up with Ysabel, diving into the latest gossip.
Isaac and Elijah, still mingling, were unmistakably the center of attention.
Some, bold enough, approached.
"Sir, my name is Seraphina Donahue, may I offer you a drink?"
Isaac remained unfazed, "I'm sorry."
Disappointed, Seraphina turned to Elijah, greeting him.
Seraphina and Elijah were old acquaintances.
Seraphina's cousin had once been romantically involved with Elijah, nearly engaged... if not for the Ulbricht family's downfall, they might not have parted ways.
Elijah couldn't hide his disdain for the Donahue family.
He glanced at Isaac, curious about his reaction.
"Ms. Donahue, I'm afraid I can't, I've been dealing with a bad stomach, got gastritis recently, and really shouldn't be drinking." Isaac, knowing Elijah enjoyed stirring things up, wanted to avoid unwanted entanglements. Seraphina, not easily deterred after replaceing someone she was attracted to, pressed: "What's your name?"
"Caspian."
Seraphina wasn't familiar with the name, her gaze fixated on Isaac: "I really like you. How about you marry me? I can guarantee you a life of comfort!"
