Daniel and Brittany exchanged glances.

Brittany shook her head, "No clue who she is."

"That looks like someone from the Palmer family of Craneville," Kari recognized the woman. "She came to your studio before, wanted you to design something personally for her."

But Brittany was already in Craneville at the time, so she had politely declined.

Brittany bit into a rib, the crunch echoing, "The Palmer family?"

"Yeah."

"Ms. Palmer does seem quite fetching."

Kari felt as if Brittany was speaking through gritted teeth, "Ms. Palmer is indeed quite remarkable."

"Speaking of which, weren't you and Nathan Jarvis talking about tying the knot? How come I haven't heard anything about a wedding?"

Brittany, trying not to lose her composure, swiftly changed the subject.

"We got the license; the wedding is still in the planning stages."

Isaac had run into some trouble, making Nathan's job all the more unstable. He had been stuck in Craneville for months, and she hardly knew anything about it.

"Make sure the wedding planning goes well."

Kari smiled, moving the conversation to wedding preparations.

The two chatted away merrily, while at another table,

Ms. Palmer asked Isaac, "Caspian, are you sure you won't reconsider my offer?"

"Sorry, Ms. Palmer, I'm quite happy with my current job," Isaac massaged his temples. Ms. Palmer was willing to pay a hefty sum to poach him, but he wasn't in need of money.

Ms. Palmer looked disappointed, "Think it over. I can offer you a great salary, shares, everything."

Caspian was in high demand all over Craneville.

Unfortunately, the financial offer wasn't tempting enough.

After Isaac's repeated refusals, Ms. Palmer had no choice, "Caspian, are you single?"

She had a sister, about Caspian's age.

"I have a family," Isaac replied honestly. "Thank you for recognizing my abilities, Ms. Palmer. I'm sorry, but I'm very satisfied with my current job."

Ms. Palmer was visibly upset.

Midway through the meal, Isaac noticed Brittany.

He put down his utensils and excused himself to the restroom, from where he sent Brittany a message.

This meeting with Ms. Palmer is purely work-related, nothing else.

Brittany didn't reply.

Isaac figured she was jealous.

He asked a waiter to relay a message to Brittany.

When the waiter approached Brittany and conveyed Isaac's words, she huffed lightly, a smile creeping onto her face.

"Kari, you go ahead and eat. I'm going to the restroom."

Kari didn't suspect a thing.

Daniel, however, felt something was off.

Once Brittany left, he turned to Kari, "Kari, I'm feeling a bit unwell, gonna head to the restroom."

Kari immediately put down her utensils, "I'll come with you."

"No need, I can manage."

...

Outside the restroom, Isaac held Brittany's hand, whispering a few words. Brittany's jealousy dissipated, finally giving him a smile. Isaac kissed her cheek, "How come Kari's here?"

"On a business trip."

She paused, "Nathan has been with you in Craneville the whole time. That couple's relationship must be strained by now."

Isaac hadn't expected Brittany to worry about someone else's relationship, "Alright, I'll tell Nathan to take a break tonight. He can spend time with Kari." "Good."

Daniel, standing not too far away, saw their affectionate display and sighed.

Sure enough, mom was bewitched by that bad man!

Daniel took a photo with his smartwatch, planning to report Isaac, letting him know who had stolen his mom!

After snapping the photo, Daniel returned to the dining area, pretending to accidentally knock over something on the table. In the ensuing chaos with Ms. Palmer distracted by her stained dress, Daniel slipped the laxative he had prepared into Isaac's bowl. Ms. Palmer was about to make a scene when Kari quickly intervened, "I'm so sorry, Ms. Palmer, he doesn't know any better."

"Daniel, apologize now."

Daniel, the picture of innocence, said, "I'm so sorry, pretty lady, I didn't mean to..."
