Chapter 619

Carla was on the verge of tears. She covered her face and left. She exited the hospital room.

Mrs. Dillion saw her tear-streaked face and felt a pang in her heart. "Carla, don't be upset. William just broke up with his girlfriend. He might still be reeling."

Mrs. Dillion guided Carla to the window. "I've seen how much you care for William all these years. He will realize how good you are. Just give him some more time." Carla's eyes were red and swollen, but she knew William was not the kind to be moved easily. He would never fall for her.

"Mrs. Dillion, it's getting late. I should head home now."

After Carla left, Mrs. Dillion stomped her foot in frustration. She couldn't understand why William was so hung up on Brittany. Carla was such a good girl. She needed to replace herself a good catch soon, or someone else might have snatched her away! When Brittany got home, Daniel had already been put to bed by the nanny.

"Ms. Dustin." The nanny approached Brittany awkwardly, looking rather uncomfortable.

"What's up?" Brittany asked as she changed her shoes.

"Ms. Dustin, my brother is getting married. I might have to go back home for a while. I won't be able to take care of Daniel."

The nanny had been with Brittany for a while. Brittany knew she was from a rural area and would definitely need to go back for her brother's wedding. "When will you be back?"

"My family wants me to start preparing for a second child after my brother's wedding. I might not be able to come back for a while."

The nanny might not be highly educated, but she was very meticulous and an excellent cook. She took good care of Daniel and made Brittany's life a lot easier. Her sudden resignation caught Brittany off-guard.

Brittany pulled out a stack of money from her purse and said, "You've been with us for so long. You've worked hard."

She continued, "Take this money. Half of it is for your baby preparations and the other half is a bonus."

Brittany was understanding. "I'll transfer your salary to your bank account tomorrow. Take good care of yourself and prepare for your baby."

The nanny was taken aback by Brittany's generosity and tried to refuse.

"You've taken good care of Daniel. You deserve this." Brittany stopped her from refusing.

The nanny was teary-eyed, "Ms. Dustin, thank you."

After the nanny left, Brittany contacted an agency to replace a new nanny.

After hanging up the phone, Brittany checked in on Daniel, who was sleeping soundly.

She cooked herself a simple meal, and after eating her fill, she went to bed.

The next morning, the agency brought a few nannies over.

"Ms. Dustin, based on your requirements, these are the three nannies we've selected. Take a look. Which one do you prefer?"

"All three of them have professional training. They're great at cooking, taking care of children, and doing house chores."

Brittany chose the friendliest-looking one, and the other nannies left.

The new nanny, Mia, was very kind.

Mia spent two hours preparing a lavish breakfast. During that time, Brittany woke Daniel up, changed his clothes, and took him to the dining room. The table was filled with a variety of breakfast foods, each one looking and smelling delicious.

"Ms. Dustin, Daniel, I'm not sure what kind of food you prefer. So, I made a little bit of everything. Please, have a taste."

Daniel climbed out of Brittany's arms, onto the chair, and took a bite of a sandwich. He was very pleased, "Yummy."

Brittany was surprised by Mia's cooking skills. In just two hours, she had prepared such a lavish breakfast.

She pulled out a chair and said, "Mia, come eat with us."

Mia shook her head and said, "Ms. Dustin, we can't eat with you. Please enjoy your meal."

Mia went back to the kitchen. Brittany tasted some of the other foods and found that Mia's cooking was just as good as the previous nanny's. At 8:15 in the morning.

Mia packed up Daniel's-things and said, "Ms. Dustin, it's time for Daniel to go to school."

Brittany replied, "I'll go with you."

Brittany was worried that Mia might not be familiar with the route, so she drove them to the kindergarten.
