Chapter 686

Isaac watched as she peeled an orange, with a hopeful smile on his face. "Can I have a piece?"

It wasn't about the fruit. He just wanted an excuse to interact with Brittany.

Brittany offered him the remaining half of the orange, her fingertips lightly stained with the fresh juice from peeling it, giving them a translucent glow.

As her fingers brushed his palm, Brittany quickly pulled her hand away, pretending to be nonchalant as she looked out the window.

Biting into the juicy orange slice, the sweetness filled his mouth. Isaac wiped his fingers with a napkin. A warm sensation lingered on his palm.

Through the rear-view mirror, Isaac watched as Brittany bent over, carefully adjusting Daniel's jacket. Her slender fingers moved gracefully, revealing the prominent bones of her knuckles. Brittany noticed his gaze and bit her lower lip, trying to conceal her discomfort.

Upon arriving at the kindergarten, Brittany quickly helped Daniel out of the car, while Isaac drove off to park.

"Bri."

As soon as they stepped out of the car, Brittany spotted Viola Miller with her daughter, Abby.

Bruce, Viola's husband, was also there.

"Abby." Daniel let go of Brittany's hand and walked briskly over to Abby. He reached into his bag and pulled out a little cupcake. "For you."

Abby's eyes twinkled as she gratefully accepted the treat with a childish "thank you."

Brittany felt a pang of realization. So that's why Daniel's cupcake offering seemed so smooth earlier, he'd done it many times before! "Mr. Salter didn't come?"

Viola looked around, failing to spot Isaac, and prepared to launch into a tirade.

"He's just parking the car."

Just then, Bruce's phone rang. He apologized with a smile and walked away.

Viola glanced at Isaac, who had just arrived and smirked mockingly.

"Mr. Salter, it's commendable that you put aside your busy schedule to participate in a parent-child event. How rare."

"Why don't I call Wesley for you?"

Isaac didn't hesitate to return the banter. He had a hunch that Bruce wouldn't have been able to accompany Viola to the event today.

His comment caught Viola off guard, leaving her speechless and annoyed.

Brittany cleared her throat, "We should head in."

"I'll wait for Bruce here."

Daniel led Abby by the hand as Brittany and Isaac walked into the kindergarten.

Brittany turned to Isaac. There was a hint of concern in her voice as she asked, "You didn't really call Wesley, did you?"

"I'm not that petty."

Inside the kindergarten, the playground was already set up for the event. The teachers were dressed in matching uniforms, bustling around in preparation.

Brittany surveyed the scene, spotting numerous simple activities meant to foster family bonding and teamwork.

Viola was the last to walk in, then accompanied by Wesley instead of Bruce. To add insult to injury, Wesley was even dressed in matching clothes with her, leaving Viola visibly disgruntled. However, she refrained from causing a scene in public. "Zac, Brittany, good morning." Wesley cheerfully greeted them.

Before Brittany could react, Viola pinched Wesley hard. "Shut up! Say one more word, and you can get out!"

Upon receiving an urgent message, Bruce had to leave.

The next second, Wesley showed up. It had to have been his doing!

As Wesley took control of the situation, he held Viola's hand, kissing it lightly. Viola blushed and scolded, "Wesley, have some decency!"

"If you try to hit me again, I'll kiss you right here!" Seeing her red-faced and flustered, Wesley couldn't help but tease her more.

""Shameless!"

Knowing he would actually do it, Viola let go of his hand and took Abby to sit elsewhere.

"Where's Bruce?" Isaac was thoroughly entertained by the spectacle.

"Does he deserve to come to my daughter's parent-child event?" Wesley retorted.
