The Billionaire Who Stole My Heart (Brittany and Isaac) -
Chapter 694
Chapter 694
The bidding had been a marathon, lasting a good three hours. Brittany was wholly engrossed, only letting out a sigh of relief when the results were announced.
Joseph had predicted that this piece of land would have ended up in Brittany's possession. He came forward with his entourage, "Congrats, Ms. Dustin." Brittany, having secured the project, was in high spirits, "Thank you, Mason."
She left with her team.
Joseph's assistant gritted his teeth, "Young Master, Brittany doesn't know what's good for her. Should we..."
"Shut up!" Joseph snapped, "She is now part of the Salter family. If we're to take action, now is not the time."
The assistant swallowed his words.
After leaving the bidding venue, Brittany was escorted by her assistant to a victory feast. She wasn't a fan of drinking, especially considering her health.
The whole company was invigorated, and Brittany was brimming with ambition, aiming to take the Dustin Group to new heights.
The project was secured, and a significant amount of capital was invested. That left Brittany somewhat strapped for cash.
Thankfully, things were going well. Wesley had negotiated with the bank and signed a loan agreement. The loan would be credited the following month, easing her financial strain. The busiest period was over, and Brittany began to relax.
In contrast, Isaac was running around like a headless chicken. There had been a constant stream of negative news online, causing Grandeur Capital's stock to plummet. Living under the same roof, they hardly had a chance to cross paths.
Isaac was working from dawn till dusk, and even Daniel noticed his father's busyness.
"Mommy, is Daddy very busy?"
Brittany tweaked his nose, "Yes, he is. Are you not happy with Mommy's company?"
Daniel nestled in her arms, shaking his head, "No, I'm very happy when Mommy is with me."
Brittany tucked Daniel in and left the kid's room.
She unlocked her phone in her room, only to be met with a barrage of negative news about Grandeur Capital.
The news was about suspicion of embezzling public funds, suspicion of tax evasion and bankruptcy.
Those headlines bombarded her, and Brittany, for once, had a good night's sleep.
The next morning.
The news of Grandeur Capital's bankruptcy was impossible to hide. Early in the morning, Grandeur Capital's stock took a nosedive. Investors and shareholders were restless. As soon as Isaac arrived at Grandeur Capital, he was confronted by a revolt from the shareholders!
Meanwhile, the negative news about Grandeur Capital was rampant online. In just a few hours, the market value shrank by billions! Isaac hadn't expected things to get that bad, let alone the shareholders who used to be respectful then daring to confront him! He spent some time pacifying the shareholders and returned to his office..
There was an extra person.
"Long time no see." Marcel Salter sat in his wheelchair, with Leda by his side.
Isaac's eyes narrowed as he looked at his secretary, seemingly questioning how that man had managed to get in.
The secretary stuttered, "Mr. Sálter, I couldn't stop him."
"Out."
The secretary left,
Isaac's eyes landed on Marcel, who looked healthier than he had five years prior, with the exception of still being wheelchair-bound.
He entered his office, "What are you doing here?"
Marcel smiled, "Taking over Grandeur Capital."
Isaac sneered, "You?"
Marcel shrugged, "I know you've always looked down on me. Do you think the shareholders will still accept you now?"
"With the news of bankruptcy and scandals, do you really think they'll still support you?"
Isaac knew the losses this time were severe, but he was confident he could reclaim what belonged to him.
"So, they'll support you, an illegitimate child who can't be made public?"
Marcel laughed heartily, "Isaac, aren't you curious? Why did you fall into such a big trap this time?"
Isaac clenched his fists, and his body was tense. His icy eyes were filled with frost, "What do you mean?"
"You should thank me. I kept Grandeur Capital in the hands of the Howard family, otherwise..." Marcel laughed cruelly, "It would have become the Dustin Group's property!"
