Chapter 708

She feared being caught in the crossfire or even, worse, taking a direct hit.

Grace hadn't expected Joie to disappear for half a month, but she didn't show any signs of concern. She put down her coffee mug and said, "He just got discharged from the hospital. He's still not fully recovered and doesn't wish to have any visitors "How's your filming going?"

"Not very well." Joie played the victim, trying to evoke sympathy from the elderly lady "The crew doesn't seem to like me very much, especially..."

"Especially who?"

Grace frowned. Joie was somewhat famous in the industry. Who would have had the audacity to target her? "People from Brittany's studio."

Joie said sullenly, "They don't seem to like me. They even refused to lend me the jewelry I needed for the shoot..."

"I'm not well-versed with the industry. You've been in this circle for a while, so you'll adapt." Grace furrowed her brow.

Joie claimed she was here to visit, but she hadn't said a single caring word. All her topics revolved around herself. Was that how one should behave when visiting a sick person?

Grace didn't want to speculate about Joie, but she couldn't summon her former gentleness. Perhaps she had too much on her plate recently and her energy was limited.

"Granny, I'll help you water the plants."

Grace didn't refuse. Joie brought out her previous attitude, showing utmost respect and care for the elderly woman.

Upstairs in the study.

Isaac received a call from Wesley, "When do you plan on leaving the Radiant Residences?"

Isaac had been home since he was discharged from the hospital a week prior.

There were rumors that Isaac had nearly drunk himself to death at home.

Some people were even schadenfreude, waiting to see the drama unfold.

Wesley had heard hundreds of versions already, but the man involved was busy gardening at the Radiant Residences, completely ignoring the public opinion.

"And why should I leave?" Isaac rubbed his temples. After working non-stop for so many years, he relished the rare downtime he had at the time. Why should he have bothered going out and listening to idle gossip? Wesley sighed heavily, saying, "I have a new project. If you're interested, we can discuss it."

Having grown up and worked together for many years, Wesley knew Isaac wasn't going to be easily defeated.

"We'll see." Isaac hung up, changed into something casual, and went downstairs.

"Young master, where are you going?" Emily heard the commotion and emerged from the kitchen. Seeing Isaac dressed casually for once, she was startled.

Did the young master finally decide to leave the house?

"I'm going to see Daniel. Take good care of granny."

Isaac left Radiant Residences without notifying anyone and drove to the kindergarten where Daniel was.

It was still early and the area around the kindergarten was quiet.

After an unknown amount of time, the school bo rang, signaling the end of class. The children filed out of the kindergarten.

Isaac spotted Daniel almost immediately.

Dressed in a little black and white suit, with a bow tie, he looked every bit the gentleman. Carrying a small backpack, he ran towards Brittany.

Brittany seemed to have just finished work. She lifted Daniel into the car, looking a bit tired. The mother and son exchanged a few words before Daniel gave Brittany a peck on the cheek, hugging her neck and giggling, Even from a distance, Isaac could see every tiny expression on Brittany's face.

Her eyes were shimmering. A warm smile graced her lips.

She was like a dazzling star, or a moon hanging in the sky, making it hard for one to look away.

He realized something. He had last seen that radiant smile five years before.
