The Billionaire Who Stole My Heart (Brittany and Isaac) -
Chapter 729
Chapter 729
Clad in a crisp white suit, the man's features were not strikingly handsome, but his aura was exceptionally captivating. An air of elegance seemed to radiate from his very bones, his eyes twinkling with a hint of amusement and a touch of superiority. "Ms. Dustin, long time no see." Lucas initiated the greeting.
Tanya looked somewhat taken aback. "Bri, you know each other?"
Brittany snapped out of her reverie, shaking hands with Lucas. "Good to see you again."
Pulling his hand back, Lucas turned his attention to Tanya, offering her the item he held. "Madam, it's a pleasure. My name is Lucas."
Tanya accepted the object, her eyes scrutinizing Lucas. He was as handsome as Blake had described, his demeanor exuding refinement.
Brittany hadn't expected to encounter Lucas here, and certainly not under those circumstances.
Tanya found an excuse to leave, and the spacious living room was left to just the two of them.
"Mr. Lucas, I had no idea it was you." Brittany poured Lucas a cup of coffee. Lucas fixed his gaze on her, accepting the cup. "I knew I was you." Brittany's fingers paused.
"Mr. Lucas, I thought I made myself clear before."
Brittany and Lucas had met in Craneville. Lucas had confessed his feelings for her then, but she had rejected him. She hadn't anticipated seeing him again. Lucas understood Brittany's implication, but he still wanted to take a chance. "Ms. Dustin, I understand your sentiments, but I'd like us to start afresh." Faced with Lucas, Brittany genuinely didn't know what to say.
Given that the Chester family had introduced him, she didn't want to reject him outright. Instead, she gently indicated that her focus was on her child and her work. Lucas smiled. "That's fine. We can start as friends. As long as you don't avoid me, that's more than enough."
Brittany had no choice but to agree.
Over the next while, Lucas frequently appeared in Brittany's life, and the two shared several meals together.
Apart from Lucas's attentiveness, he was a great conversationalist, knowledgeable and articulate.
Lucas also showed a keen interest in children. He was unexpectedly introduced to Daniel and hit it off with him in the afternoon.
Brittany was surprised. She hadn't expected Lucas to be so approachable and even more gentlemanly than before.
After saying goodbye to Lucas, Daniel sat next to Brittany. "Mom, are you going to marry Lucas?"
Daniel understood what divorce meant and knew that his mom and dad were no longer together.
Brittany's hand froze as she fastened his seat belt. "Why would you say that?"
After eating his yogurt, he turned to Brittany. "Lucas and William are both nice. I like them both. If you want to marry Lucas, I would support it."
But that would mean his dad was going to be left behind!
Brittany pinched his cheek. "No, don't overthink it."
Her relationship with Lucas was purely platonic. She didn't harbor feelings beyond friendship for him, let alone contemplate marriage.
Daniel pouted. "Then do you still love Daddy?"
He had heard from Granny Emily that his mom used to be really fond of his dad, willing to sacrifice a lot for him. But his dad had let them down, hurting his mom and causing her a great deal of pain. "Your dad and I, it's not a matter of liking or not liking. We're apart now, but we both love you very much."
Brittany thought he was craving a stable home, just like before.
Daniel's eyes welled up with tears. "Mom, I'll always be there for you.
