The Billionaire Who Stole My Heart (Brittany and Isaac) -
Chapter 739
Chapter 739
The semi-finals live stream.
Kari received a call from the production crew. After a few brief exchanges, Kari couldn't keep his calm composure. "Get her to the hospital immediately. The match is almost over, and we'll be there right away." After hanging up, Kari contacted the studio and sent someone to the hospital at once.
All this while, Brittany knew nothing about it.
It wasn't until the live stream ended that she and Aubrey returned to the dressing room to replace Kari waiting for them. "Brittany, there's something I need to discuss with you. Can we talk?" Recently, Brittany had kept her distance from her studio staff to avoid any misunderstandings, and Kari was aware of this. However, with the current situation, she had to tell Brittany. "Brittany, you guys talk. Remember what I told you earlier," Aubrey said with a light smile as she left the dressing room.
"What's up?"
Having hosted a live stream for over seven hours, Brittany was exhausted. Her throat felt parched from all the talking.
She grabbed a glass of water and downed it in one gulp before turning her attention to Kari.
"Zara got into a fight at the set."
"What happened?" Brittany asked, frowning. Zara had been with her for many years. Although she was just an assistant, she was highly capable and managed almost everything on the set. "They said she had a run-in with Joie..."
Brittany immediately stood up and said, "I'll go to the hospital. You just focus on preparing for the finals."
Kari wanted to accompany her, but Brittany stopped her. "Just focus on the competition."
Brittany left the competition venue immediately and headed straight to the hospital.
Upon reaching the hospital, before she could see Zara, she heard Joie shouting, "I don't care! This little assistant dared to hit me! I want her arrested! I want an injury check-up." People on Brittany's side were always a pain in the neck for Joie!
Brittany didn't know much about the situation. However, she knew Zara wasn't one to stir up trouble, and Joie was trouble.
"Injury check-up, sure," Brittany said calmly as she approached Joie, "But before that, Ms. Joie, I would like you to explain how she got that wound on her head." Caught off guard, Joie's arrogance froze on her face.
A police officer stepped forward and said, "Ms. Dustin, we've already investigated the incident."
After the fight on set escalated, the makeup artists called the police. Fortunately, the makeup room had security cameras that had recorded the entire incident.
As Brittany watched the footage, a chilling light flashed in her eyes.
As suspected, Joie provoked Zara in the first place.
Thinking about the surveillance footage made Joie lose some of her confidence. "Brittany, I won't go through with the injury check-up for your sake, but she must apologize to me!"
Even an assistant dared to lay a hand on her. If this got out, how would she face the public?
"Joie, you were the one who started it," Brittany didn't miss any detail from the surveillance footage. "Zara was merely trying to protect herself. But you, you hit her on the head. You better hope she's okay, otherwise, I'll be the one demanding an injury check-up. And then, you'll be the one going to jail."
Joie's face paled. "You..."
"Ms. Dustin." Zara, her wound bandaged, came out of the examination room.
"Zara." Brittany rushed over and carefully examined her. "Are you okay? Does it still hurt?"
Like a child who had been wronged, Zara clutched Brittany's shirt, "Ms. Dustin, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to get into a fight."
Brittany had just finished the live stream and had rushed over because of her. Zara felt guilty for causing trouble.
"Don't say that. I know what happened. Don't worry, I'll make sure this is sorted out."
Brittany tried to comfort Zara, looking at Joie coldly. "Ms. Joie, the surveillance footage is here. Don't you think you should apologize?* Apologize?
Joie nearly laughed out in disbelief, "Brittany, have you lost your mind? You want me to apologize to a mere assistant? Is she even worth it?"
"Officer, since Ms. Joie refuses to settle this privately, let's do this by the book."
The officer didn't want to escalate the situation, but Joie's refusal to apologize and her arrogant attitude didn't sit well with them.
