Chapter 797

Isaac took a brief respite but soon found himself caught up in the hustle and bustle of life.

This time, however, it was not work that occupied him.

He was planning a proposal. He reached out to one of the best wedding planning teams in the country. He was meticulous in all he did, and this time was no exception. Brittany was none the wiser..

The wedding bells for Nathan and Kari were tolling.

Brittany put in a lot of effort helping Kari with the wedding, but Kari was not doing too well.

She had been daydreaming during several meetings.

Brittany noticed this little detail. When the meeting ended, she stayed behind with Kari.

"Kari, are you okay?"

Brittany poured a cup of coffee for Kari and asked, "You look a little off. Are you not getting enough sleep?"

She handed the cup over to Kari.

Kari jerked her hand back as if the cup was a hot potato.

"Thud!"

The cup hit the floor.

Kari turned pale. "Brittany, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to."

Her hand was clenched into a fist, shaking imperceptibly.

"Kari, what's wrong?"

Brittany, keen as a hawk, noticed something was off with Kari.

Kari forced a smile and said, "Brittany, I'm fine; I'm just a little nervous."

Brittany studied Kari for a long time and finally seemed to believe her explanation.

"Don't be too nervous. The wedding is just around the corner."

Getting married, anyone would be nervous.

Maybe she was overthinking.

Brittany gave Kari a few days off.

Kari refused. "Brittany, I'd rather stay in the studio..."

"Alright then."

After talking with Brittany, Kari's condition improved a lot. Brittany breathed a sigh of relief, thinking she was just genuinely

nervous.

On the eve of the wedding.

According to the tradition in Imperial City, the bride and groom could not meet.

Kari's mother was brought to the city but did not stay at Kari's house. She stayed at a hotel.

Brittany decided to book another suite, planning to accompany Kari.

That evening, Willa, looking at her daughter, who was about to get married, had tears in her eyes. "Kari, tomorrow you'll be marrying Nathan, I'm so happy."

Kari was raised by a single mother, Willa. Seeing her daughter getting married was a great comfort to her.

Kari held Willa's hand. "Mom, I know. I will live well."

Willa took out a bank card from her pocket and said, "This is the money I have been saving for you over the years. Take it."

"Mom, I don't need this money."

Kari was not short of money.

And she did not want to take Willa's hard-earned savings.

"Take it." Willa insisted. "Kari, I'm sorry for all these years. It's my fault you couldn't finish university. But things are looking up now. After you get married, you must take on your responsibilities, understand?" Kari accepted the bank card and said, "Mom, you should come and live with us."

Nathan had suggested that Willa could live with them after the wedding.

Willa was frail; she had suffered a lot over the years, and her health was not what it used to be. Living together would make it easier to look after her.

Willa shook her head. "I won't. You young people have your own lifestyle; I won't intrude; I can take care of myself."

Willa knew Nathan and her daughter meant well, but she preferred to live independently rather than be a burden to her daughter. "Then let me buy you an apartment."

A two-bedroom apartment in the same complex would be perfect.
