Scattered papers littered the floor.

Isaac stood his ground with an air of calm defiance. "I admit, concealing my true identity was a mistake on my part, but..."

At first, it was Brittany who mistook him for some broke kid, and he had simply played along with the misunderstanding. But as things progressed, he did make genuine errors.

Yuri had no patience for his explanations. "You and Bri, get a divorce."

"That's not an option." Isaac shook his head. "You're angry, and I get that. You can do whatever you want to me, but this... I can't agree to."

He had worked so hard to win Brittany back; there was no way he could just let go.

Yuri scoffed at his resolute stance. "Do you even know who clued me in on this? It was your own father!"

Tension radiated from Yuri. "My daughter has suffered because of the Salter family, and as her husband, not only did you fail to protect her, but you also let her endure so much pain. What right do you have to be with her now? Either agree to the divorce, or settle things with the Salter family."

Yuri was already displeased with him, and now he had found the perfect excuse to make Isaac's life difficult.

Isaac remained still, a glint of cold resolve flickering in his eyes. After a moment, he declared, "I will handle the Salter family."

Yuri's anger was far from quelled. "As for today's incident, I don't want Bri to replace out. Until you've dealt with the Salter family, I don't want to see your face!"

The meeting between Isaac and Yuri was anything but pleasant, and both tacitly agreed to keep Brittany in the dark.

Isaac, under the guise of work commitments, stopped accompanying Brittany to the Lynette Mansion, and Yuri didn't mention Isaac again.

Initially, Brittany didn't think much of it, but after several rebuffs and accidentally discovering that Isaac's schedule wasn't as packed as he claimed, she sensed something was amiss.

Choosing an evening when Isaac was home, she sent Daniel over to the Lynette Mansion and took to the kitchen herself, preparing a sumptuous dinner.

Isaac, pleasantly surprised, walked into the kitchen and wrapped his arms around her waist. "I thought you were going to have dinner with the Lynettes tonight."

Yuri genuinely cared for Daniel. Three times a week, Daniel would eat at the Lynette Mansion, always receiving royal treatment. Yuri even showered him with toys, winning Daniel's affection.

With Daniel more than happy to stay with the Lynettes, the time he spent clinging to Brittany had significantly decreased.

Brittany continued her culinary tasks. "You've been avoiding meeting with Dad lately."

Isaac knew Brittany was sharp; she was bound to get suspicious sooner or later. He was prepared for this.

"Caught me, huh?"

Brittany stopped what she was doing. "Is Dad giving you a hard time?"

Isaac chuckled softly. "No, it's just that I thought you two needed some time alone."

He took Brittany's hand, leading her out of the kitchen and guiding her to the sofa. "He's missed you all these years. Now that he's found you and Daniel, he surely wants to spend more time with you."

"It's because of you that he and I came together, that we became a family. You're the most important piece." Isaac's voice was tender. "I want you to spend more time with him, to make up for all those lost years." Brittany couldn't detect any falseness in his words, but she still harbored doubts. "Is that really it?"

Isaac kissed her cheek. "When have I ever lied to you?"

Upon reflection, Brittany realized that he rarely deceived her. "Still, I wish you and Dad could get along better."

Isaac understood her wishes, but in this world, harmony was not always achievable. Life's realities were often less than ideal.

"Alright, I'll try my best."
