"Let's head to the office."

Willard pushed open the door to the office, only to replace a man sitting on the couch, wearing a silver mask that concealed his face, his eyes cold and menacing. A chill ran down Willard's spine for no apparent reason.

Why did he get the feeling that Elijah's new executive seemed to have a bone to pick with him?

"Mr. Willard."

The man extended his hand: "Pleasure, I'm Caspian."

"Caspian."

Willard shook his hand. "Mr. Ulbricht sent you over, is there an issue with our collaboration?"

Caspian withdrew his hand, catching a faint scent on Willard that he recognized.

It was Brittany's favorite perfume.

He pinched his fingertips, a flash of anger quickly passing through his eyes, though his face remained as calm as still water.

"Mr. Ulbricht's message was to accelerate our partnership."

Willard nodded. "Alright, let's move this discussion to the conference room."

After talking for over three hours and signing the contract, Willard invited him for dinner.

Caspian shook his head: "Mr. Willard, I've got other commitments. I must be going."

Leaving the Blackwood Group, Caspian took off his mask, changed into a set of black attire suitable for the night, and drove straight to Bay Community.

Since the car accident, Brittany had completely moved out of the villa they once shared.

The villa had been vacant for half a year, all the furniture covered in dust sheets, yet still unable to hide the marks of time passing by.

Caspian pushed open the master bedroom door, half-expecting Brittany to jump into his arms, sharing whispers of love.

Unfortunately, she wouldn't be appearing anytime soon.

Caspian spent the night in Bay Community and early the next morning, just as he closed the door.

"Why are you here?"

Caspian turned to replace Brittany.

Wearing a tracksuit, likely just back from a morning run, her breathing slightly hurried.

"Just passing by."

Brittany felt something was off. "Passing by?"

Bay Community wasn't a place just anyone could enter.

"What's your name?"

"Caspian."

"Did you replace your wife and kids?"

Caspian looked at Brittany with an unusually gentle gaze: "I did."

Brittany didn't push further: "Then I'll be going."

Without thinking, Caspian grabbed Brittany: "Ms. Lynette, have you been in contact with Willard recently?"

Brittany frowned defensively: "How do you know?"

"I just wanted to remind Ms. Lynette, Willard is a businessman, no matter how much he likes you, he will weigh the costs."

Caspian could see Brittany had feelings for him, the more so, the more he wanted to end everything quickly. He moved closer, his breath trembling slightly: "So, Ms. Lynette, better cut ties with him soon." Brittany's heart skipped a beat, she hadn't planned on developing anything further with Willard.

"Caspian, you're too close-"

Brittany instinctively stepped back, but Caspian suddenly pulled her closer, her scent enveloping him, almost leaning in to capture her lips...

Brittany dodged his touch, furious, raising her hand, "Don't touch me!"

Caspian caught her hand, pressing closer.

The overpowering scent of masculinity was stifling, Brittany stiffened.

"Caspian, you have a family, how can you do this, aren't you ashamed?"

If Brittany knew he was this bold, she wouldn't have greeted him in the first place.

Caspian laughed: "My wife?"

He raised an eyebrow: "My wife has long forgotten about me."

Brittany felt as if she'd been punched in the gut, a mix of sourness and pain, but mostly, an indescribable awkwardness.

"Your issues with your wife are none of my business."

"But, Ms. Lynette, you like me, don't you?" Caspian pinpointed Brittany's secret.

"That's ridiculous." Brittany's face turned red instantly, her long-hidden feelings laid bare, wishing she could just disappear.
