Brittany felt like she was in another lifetime when she heard William Dillion's name.
"Alright, got it."
Before leaving, Kari gave Brittany a hug. "Brit, stop digging into Mr. Salter's past. I'm worried it's too much for you to handle."
Losing a loved one isn't something you easily get over.
She just couldn't bear to see Brittany in so much pain.
"Kari, you know me. I'd rather be painfully aware than blissfully ignorant."
Kari sighed deeply, knowing Brittany all too well made it even harder to see her suffer.
Brittany had arranged to meet William, who was currently on a business trip.
Upon hearing her request, William sent over a photo of him and Zac from their college days. "Brit, this is the only picture I have left from back then." "William, thank you. If I'm still in town when you get back, dinner's on me."
William gently declined, "I won't be back in town for another two weeks."
In reality, he only needed to be away for a week, but he just couldn't face Brittany-not yet.
He wasn't avoiding her for any particular reason; he just didn't want to fall back into old patterns.
After hanging up, Brittany opened the photo and caught her breath.
The man in the photo had a striking appearance, even the poor quality of the old photo couldn't hide his distinguished look.
Brittany saved the photo.
That evening, Daniel went out and ended up being brought back by Noel Salter.
Brittany didn't try to stop him.
When Noel came to pick up Daniel, he made sure to say goodbye to Brittany.
She wanted to ask about Isaac but held back, not wanting to reopen old wounds.
Brittany decided to turn in early that night.
In the middle of the night, she got a call from Hannah, "Brit, come down to the bar. I've got someone I want you to meet."
Checking the clock, it was already 3 AM. She had slept a few hours, enough to feel rested. Since she was back in town, she wanted to catch up with friends. Brittany agreed, slipped into a sleek dress, and left her hotel.
Arriving at the bar, she found Hannah, already quite drunk, slumped over the table with Derek Bishop by her side.
"Hey, bro."
Brittany and Derek had mended their relationship. Despite his visits to Craneville over the past few months, he never mentioned Isaac.
"You made it."
"Why'd you drink so much?"
Brittany knew Hannah loved the bar scene, but there was no need for her to overdo it.
"Bachelorette party." Derek was never a fan of Hannah's drinking habits, but she was stubborn. The more he protested, the more she insisted on doing it. There wasn't much Derek could do but let her be.
Hannah, completely wasted, grabbed Brittany's hand and wouldn't let go, her eyes teary, "Brit, you're finally back. I've been waiting for you to be my bridesmaid!" Brittany chuckled, "My kid's already crawling. How can I be a bridesmaid?"
Hannah sobbed, "You and Isaac never had a wedding. I was looking forward to being your bridesmaid!"
"Hannah!"
Derek panicked.
Little did he know, Brittany was already aware of Isaac's existence.
"Bro, no need to hide it anymore. I know about Isaac," Brittany said with a gentle smile.
Derek was speechless for a moment, "Sorry, we didn't mean to keep it from you. We just didn't want to bring up those painful memories."
Brittany nudged Hannah, "Weren't you going to introduce me to someone?"
Hannah suddenly snapped back to reality and pulled Brittany towards the dance floor!
